Also a basketball athlete, Pollard holds offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Boston College, Florida State, Cincinnati and others.

Tennessee currently has one prospect committed to the 2022 recruiting class, in 3-star defensive end Jimmy Scott from New York.

Tennessee offers wide receiver from Florida

The Vols are looking to add to their 2022 recruiting class.

Tennessee is on the recruiting trail for 2022 prospects, and the Vols recently offered one wide receiver from Lake City, Florida in Marcus Peterson.

Peterson is a 3-star on the 247Sports Composite. Though listed as a wide receiver, he is rated as the No. 31 tight end in his class and the No. 62 player in the state of Florida.

Peterson already has offers from the likes of Arkansas, Florida State, South Carolina, Miami and Penn State.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound prospect is a junior at Columbia High School.

The Vols currently have one prospect committed to the 2022 recruiting class in 3-star defensive end Jimmy Scott from New York.

2022 Gators Football Recruiting Profile: Syveion Ellis

Wide receiver Syveion Ellis has a combination of size and speed makes him an intriguing candidate on the perimeter in two years.

247Sports Composite: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rivals.com: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Overview:

Beginning his prep career in the Peach State with the Brunswick Pirates, Ellis committed to Florida during a campus visit on April 13, 2019, when he was still in his freshman year.

The lone member of the Gators’ 2022 class until five-star athlete Sam McCall joined him on October 28, he transferred to the Miami Edison Red Raiders ahead of his sophomore year, who hosted the Chaminade-Madonna Lions in the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Region 4-3A Finals on November 27.

As is commonplace with prospects who pledge this early, Ellis has continued to hear from other programs and he released a top-six list on July 16, which included, in addition to Florida, the Arkansas Razorbacks, Miami Hurricanes, Oregon Ducks, South Carolina Gamecocks and Tennessee Volunteers.

The 6-foot-5-inch, 200-pound pass-catcher attended multiple Gators games in 2019, and was only able to visit one other school on his list, Miami, before the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) instituted their recruiting dead period because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in March.

While a lot can happen between now and Ellis inking his National Letter of Intent (LOI), his combination of size and speed makes him an intriguing candidate on the perimeter in two years.

Florida has placed an emphasis on the wide receiver position in the 2021 cycle, currently possessing the commitment of four student-athletes, all of whom are four-stars, Jacksonville’s Marcus Burke, Seffner’s Charles Montgomery, Loganville, Georgia’s Daejon Reynolds and Ocala’s Trevonte Rucker.

247Sports Composite: Five-star

Rivals.com: Four-star

Overview:

Listed as the No. 4 athlete in the 2022 class by the 247Sports Composite, which also ranks McCall as the fifth-best player in the talent-rich state, he committed to the Gators on October 28, choosing the program over the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida State Seminoles and Oklahoma Sooners.

Cornerbacks coach Torrian Gray was McCall’s primary recruiter, with an assist from passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales.

“Athlete” can be a wide-ranging term when it comes to recruiting, but the expectation, according to many people around the program, is McCall will play cornerback in Gainesville, with the possibility existing of him contributing as a wide receiver, too.

Earning a grade of .9844 from the Composite, he is the 41st-highest all-time commit for Florida.

Presently, McCall is one of just two members in the Gators’ 2022 class, joining Miami four-star wide receiver Syveion Ellis.

Texas Football Recruiting: Five-star prospect chooses Ohio State over Texas

Caleb Burton, once considered the top priority, has committed to Ohio State. Another in-state blue-chip prospect slips through UT’s fingers.

When five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers committed to Texas in August, it seemed as if the Longhorns were going to have a historic recruiting class. Not only were top players from in the state targets but some of the best prospects across the country thought about playing in Austin.

Everything changed when Ewers, the No. 2 overall player on the 247Sports composite decommitted from Texas and instead chose to head north to Ohio State. Ryan Day and the Buckeyes have been known to enter the state and steal blue-chip players from Tom Herman. On Monday afternoon, they did it again.

Five-star Caleb Burton, once considered the top priority after Ewers, has committed to Ohio State. Coming out of Del Valle High School, Burton ranks in the top 15 nationally and is the No. 2 wide receiver on the 247Sports composite.

Outside of Texas and Ohio State, 36 other schools have offered Burton, making him a hot commodity. He had released a top 12 consisting of schools such as Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, and Oklahoma.

Ohio State now has nine commits in their 2022 class, with the top two being from the state of Texas. More could even be on the way with prospects such as cornerback Denver Harris drawing attention from the Buckeyes.

Tom Herman’s past two recruiting cycles have been nothing short of a dumpster fire. Losing in-state blue-chip talent to other elite programs year in and year out is an excellent way to make your seat warmer than it already is.

While Texas does have time to respond, things are not looking great. Other schools are going to have the opportunity to steal even more top in-state talent over the next year.

Texas Football Recruiting: Dual-threat quarterback receives offer from Longhorns

Four-star quarterback Conner Weigman picked up a Texas offer on Thursday. The Longhorns will be trying to replace five-star Quinn Ewers.

Entering the season, it seemed as if quarterback was not going to be an issue in Texas’ 2022 recruiting class. Five-star Quinn Ewers was committed and possibly taking the Longhorns’ program to a different level.

A couple of mistakes later, Tom Herman lost the generational talent to the Ohio State Buckeyes. A lifelong Horns fan, Ewers, will be the next example of elite prospects leaving the state of Texas.

Luckily, the state still has two elite quarterback prospects the Longhorns can duke it out for. Cade Klubnik is a four-star pro-style quarterback out of Westlake High School.

On Thursday, dual-threat quarterback Conner Weigman joined the mix. Weigman is a four-star prospect, and Texas will be heavily invested in trying to sign both.

Tennessee target, 5-star quarterback prospect decommits from Texas

This blue-chip prospect is re-evaluating his college football decision.

Tennessee’s quarterback position has been under a magnify glass in 2020, as Jarrett Guarantano has struggled greatly at times, and the Vols seemingly do not have a suitable full-time backup option.

The Vols are continuing to recruit the quarterback position and with Quinn Ewers.

The 2022 blue-chip quarterback prospect from Southlake, Texas decommitted from Texas on Wednesday. Tennessee offered Ewers this summer.

Ewers is a 5-star prospect on the 247Sports Composite, the No. 1 pro-style quarterback in his class, the No. 1 player in Texas and the No. 2 player nationally for 2022.

Florida Gators land commitment from 2022 five-star athlete Sam McCall

UF’s 2022 recruiting class got a big boost with the addition of five-star athlete Sam McCall to their commitment list on Wednesday.

Lake Gibson (Lakeland, Florida) 2022 five-star athlete Sam McCall committed to the Florida Gators on Wednesday, which was also his birthday, making the announcement on his Twitter account, with head coach Dan Mullen watching live.

Listed as the No. 4 athlete in the cycle and a top-five player in the state by the 247Sports Composite, McCall attended one of the program’s Junior Days on March 7 and the Gators were seen as the leader for his services throughout his recruitment.

As his two-minute-and-twenty-second video shows, he chose Florida over the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida State Seminoles, and Oklahoma Sooners.

Contributing on both sides of the football at the prep level for the Braves, the expectation is McCall will play cornerback in Gainesville, but the possibility exists of him chipping in on offense, too.

Position coach Torrian Gray has been McCall’s primary recruiter, and Andrew Ivins, a Miami Hurricanes insider for 247Sports, had high praise for the 6-foot-2-inch, 180-pounder in his evaluation, comparing him to former Alabama safety standout Eddie Jackson, who is now in the National Football League with the Chicago Bears.

McCall becomes the second member of the Gators’ 2022 class, joining Edison (Miami, Florida) four-star wide receiver Syveion Ellis.
