Texas Football Recruiting: Longhorns lose another commit, four-star WR

The downward spiral continues for the Texas Longhorns with four-star wide receiver Phaizon Wilson decommitting on Thursday.

The downward spiral continues for the Texas Longhorns.

One of the Longhorns top prospects in the 2021 class — four-star athlete Billy Bowman — chose to decommit from Texas prior to the Red River Rivalry.

On Wednesday night, five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers chose to open his recruitment after originally committing to Texas in August.

The Ewers effect is now impacting Texas in all the wrong ways. Four-star wide receiver Phaizon Wilson has now decided to retract his commitment to the Longhorns.

After rumbles of many highly rated recruits now reconsidering their commitment to Texas, something must be done to stop the bleeding.

Texas is now losing the top prospects out of their own state. Head coach Tom Herman has not fielded a disciplined football team this season despite having one of the most talented rosters in all of college football.

The back-to-back losses were enough to warm the seat of Herman’s future in Austin, but now it’s scorching hot.

The recruiting downfall presents a larger problem. Texas must act quickly to prevent others from joining the mass exodus.
