Georgia basketball offers scholarship to Ryan Mutombo

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a basketball scholarship to center Ryan Mutombo, the son of Dikembe Mutombo.

Tom Crean and the Georgia Bulldogs have offered a basketball scholarship to center Ryan Mutombo. Mutombo is a senior at Lovett School and is from Atlanta, Georgia.

Mutombo is the son of NBA legend Dikembe Mutombo, who was an eight-time all-star and a four-time defensive player of the year. Mutombo’s number fifty-five jersey is retired for the Atlanta Hawks and Denver Nuggets.

Ryan Mutombo will play much of his career in his father’s shadow according to the media, but Mutombo has a chance to make a name for himself. At six-foot-eleven, Mutombo has great size and is a talented four-star recruit. He’s a member of the class of 2021.

He was excited to receive an offer from the University of Georgia:

We’ll keep you updated throughout Mutombo’s recruitment. He’d be a great addition to Georgia’s class of 2021.

Dikembe Mutombo attended Georgetown during his college days. Will Ryan Mutombo follow in his footsteps or opt to go to FSU, Clemson, Georgia, or many of the other schools that have offered him?

Irish offer Massive Class of ‘22 Tackle from South Carolina

Notre Dame continues to attack the offensive line class of 2022, this time going out east to offer an offensive tackle.

For a sophomore going into his junior year in Greenville, South Carolina, Collin Sadler will most likely have his choice of virtually any school he would like to attend to play collegiate football. The 6’6” and 295-pound tackle got his Notre Dame offer yesterday as they joined an impressive list at this early stage in his recruitment.

Sadler adds the Irish verbal offer after already collecting the same from Clemson, LSU, Michigan, Oregon and others. It might be tough getting him to leave the state as the Tiger’s are his perceived leader at this moment.

The massive tackle isn’t just a large body, as his Greenville team has him pulling on outside run plays while also getting to the outside to block screens. Sadler is the ninth offensive tackle Brian Kelly and offensive line coach Jeff Quinn have offered. At the current moment, the Irish do not have any commits in the 2022 class and are looking for their first pledge from the rising junior class.

Michigan State HC Tom Izzo meets with 2022 4-star SG Robert Cowherd

MSU Basketball head coach Tom Izzo met with Denmark High School shooting guard Robert Cowherd on Monday regarding his recruitment.

According to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers, Izzo met with 2022 4-star shooting guard Robert Cowherd on Monday, in addition to the many other prospects he was in touch with.

Cowherd currently plays for Denmark High School in Alpharetta, Georgia. Rivals has him ranked as a 4-star prospect while 247Sports doesn’t have a ranking for him yet.

Michigan State Basketball offers 7’1″, 2022 center Donovan Clingan

MSU Basketball has offered top-50 prospect Donovan Clingan from Bristol Central High School.

On Sunday, it was reported that Michigan State Basketball had met with 7-foot-1, 2022 center Donovan Clingan in a virtual meeting. On Monday, Clingan announced that he received an offer from MSU.

Clingan is a top-50 player in his class and an absolute statistical monster. Clingan averaged 24.8 points, 17.2 rebounds, and 6.4 blocks per game last year for Bristol Central High School in Connecticut.

Given his size and abilities it’s no surprise that Clingan already has offers out from Boston College, UConn, Iowa, Rutgers and more as a variety of major programs will definitely be trying to get in on the Clingan sweepstakes.

With 2022 recruiting in full swing, this will be an interesting player for fans to keep an eye on. Something Izzo has lacked on his teams of late is size in the front-court and a future tag team of Mady Sissoko and Clingan could be scary for opposing teams.

Michigan State will not make athletes sign a COVID-19 Risk Waiver like Ohio State

Unlike Ohio State, Michigan State is not making athletes returning to campus sign a Coronavirus Risk Waiver.

With all the excitement over college athletes returning to campus for voluntary workouts along with the start of the 2022 basketball recruiting season, one story from a Big Ten rival of MSU’s should definitely not go unnoticed, and that is the fact that Ohio State will be having football players sign a Coronavirus risk waiver before engaging in voluntary workouts. Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press reported on Monday that Michigan State is not having players sign these waivers and instead is stressing safety and education for those returning to campus.

To be frank, and this is of course just my opinion, but it does feel a little odd to me to have players sign those waivers at Ohio State and I am glad the Spartans are not following suit. These are unpaid student athletes who ultimately make millions of dollars for their respective universities. If Ohio State thinks there is a chance players could contract this virus by returning to campus, they should bear the responsibility of that decision, in my opinion.
