5 Giants were snubbed from the 2024 Pro Bowl Games

New York Giants NT Dexter Lawrence is headed to the 2024 Pro Bowl Games but five of his teammates were arguably snubbed.

The rosters for the 2024 Pro Bowl Games were announced on Wednesday and only one New York Giants player made the list.

For the second season in a row, defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence was honored as a member of the NFC squad.

There were other Giants, however, who were under consideration that did not make the list.

Here are four players who just missed the honor this season.

D’Andre Swift among six Eagles named to NFC Pro Bowl

D’Andre Swift is among six Philadelphia Eagles named to the NFC Pro Bowl

The Eagles have lost four of their last five, but their 11 wins are still among the NFL’s best and they were properly represented on the NFC Pro Bowl roster.

D’Andre Swift earned his first 1,000-yard season in 2023, and his first Pro Bowl nod as well, becoming one of six Birds to earn a nomination.

wide receiver A.J. Brown (starter, 3rd selection), guard Landon Dickerson (reserve, 2nd selection), tackle Lane Johnson (starter, 5th selection), center Jason Kelce (starter, 7th selection), linebacker Haason Reddick (reserve, 2nd selection), and running back Swift (reserve, 1st selection).

Philadelphia had 9 Pro Bowl alternates: kicker Jake Elliott (1st alternate), quarterback Jalen Hurts (1st), cornerback Darius Slay (1st), return specialist Britain Covey (2nd), defensive end Josh Sweat (2nd), tackle Jordan Mailata (3rd), defensive tackle Jalen Carter (4th), tight end Dallas Goedert (4th), and guard Cam Jurgens (5th).

The 2024 Pro Bowl Games are scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 1 in Orlando.

Giants’ Dexter Lawrence named to 2024 Pro Bowl Games

New York Giants NT Dexter Lawrence has been named to the 2024 Pro Bowl Games with two other Giants named alternates.

New York Giants nose tackle Dexter Lawrence didn’t receive a lot of love from the fans, not even cracking the top 10 at his position, but his fellow players and the league’s coaches have voted him into the 2024 Pro Bowl Games.

For Lawrence, it will be his second consecutive appearance in the Pro Bowl Games — the first Giants’ defensive lineman to receive that honor since Jason Pierre-Paul (2011-2012).

Lawrence is also the first Giant with back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances since safety Landon Collins (2016-2018).

In 15 games this season, Lawrence has recorded 52 tackles (32 solo, seven for a loss), two passes defensed, 19 QB hits and 4.5 sacks. His 92.8 Pro Football Focus grade ranks first among all interior defenders.

Despite doing well in fan voting (outside of Lawrence), no other Giants were named starters for the 2024 Pro Bowl Games.

Running back Saquon Barkley was named a second alternate and linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux was named a third alternate.

The 2024 Pro Bowl Games will be held from Thursday, February 1 through Sunday, February 4 in Orlando, Florida.

3 Giants among top-10 at their position in Pro Bowl voting

Three New York Giants are among the top-10 at their position in 2024 Pro Bowl fan voting, but NT Dexter Lawrence is not one of them.

Fan voting for the 2024 Pro Bowl Games has opened and three New York Giants are among the top-10 at their position.

Kayvon Thibodeaux has the fifth-most votes of any outside linebacker in the NFL and third-most of any in the NFC. He’s certainly on pace for his first Pro Bowl appearance having recorded 11.0 sacks to date.

At inside linebacker, Bobby Okereke, like Thibodeaux at his position, has the fifth-most votes in the NFL and the second-most votes in the NFC.

The surprise is Jamie Gillan, who is third overall among punters in the NFL and is currently leading the NFC in votes.

Shockingly, neither nose tackle Dexter Lawrence nor running back Saquon Barkley are among the top-10 at their position in the NFL or the NFC.

Fan voting for the 2024 Pro Bowl Games continues until Monday, December 25. That will account for one-third of the votes with NFL players and coaches casting their votes on Friday, December 29, accounting for the final two-thirds.

The 2024 Pro Bowl Games will begin with a skill competition on February 1, 2024, and conclude on February 4, 2024, with the flag football game.

The New Orleans Saints were well-represented at this year’s Pro Bowl Games by defensive end Cameron Jordan and linebacker Demario Davis, who helped NFC team coach Eli Manning defeat his older brother Peyton Manning and the AFC in a 35-33 rout in front of a heavy crowd at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

It was Jordan’s eighth year to be named a Pro Bowler, but it was the first time for Davis, and they each made the most of it — even if Davis was involved with a controversial officiating decision in the Pro Bowl dodgeball game. Still, it’s good to see that they and their families enjoyed themselves on such a big stage. The 2022 season wasn’t easy for anyone and this was a well-earned, low-stakes event to unwind with their friends and peers from around the league.

Here are some of the best photos of each Saints standout from the Pro Bowl Games:

Giants great Eli Manning coaches NFC to 2023 Pro Bowl Games victory

Retired New York Giants great, Eli Manning, coached the NFC to victory in the first-ever Pro Bowl Games with some help from Saquon Barkley.

Retired New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and the NFC were triumphant on Sunday, defeating Peyton Manning and the AFC in the first-ever Pro Bowl Games.

Manning and the NFC got a boost from Giants running back Saquon Barkley, who helped win the dodgeball competition and later caught all three passes thrown his way in the flag football contest. Those passes came off the arm of ex-Giants quarterback Geno Smith.

The Giants’ other Pro Bowler, nose tackle Dexter Lawrence, did not participate in the flag football games.

After the win, Manning received a Gatorade bath and proceeded to rub Peyton’s nose in it.

Below are some highlights from the 2023 Pro Bowl Games featuring the Giants that were in attendance.

Controversial officiating call costs Demario Davis a win at Pro Bowl dodgeball game

WATCH: A controversial officiating call costs Demario Davis a win at Thursday night’s Pro Bowl dodgeball game

The New Orleans Saints just can’t escape last-minute officiating gaffes. Linebacker Demario Davis earned his first-ever trip to the Pro Bowl Games this season, and he was put in a big spot during one of the event’s first highlights: the NFC Dodgeball game, in which Davis made the final throw.

He beamed New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley in the head with a dart that would have won the game for the NFC defense — it’s a miracle Barkley’s bucket hat didn’t go sailing away. But the referees said Davis illegally hit Barkley in the face, which led to his disqualification and instead a win for the NFC offense.

But it made for terrific content, with an instant reaction from the crowd and Davis’s teammate Cameron Jordan cheering him on after what they thought was the game-winning throw. Ah well. They’ll have other opportunities to shine in upcoming events like the flag football game on Sunday.

Giants’ Saquon Barkley dazzles in dodgeball at Pro Bowl Games

New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley saved the NFC from a Thursday night sweep at the hands of the AFC with a dazzling dodgeball display.

The NFC took quite a beating in the skills competition on Thursday night at the 2023 Pro Bowl Games. They lost in precision passing, the lightning round, and the longest drive competition.

They were at risk of being swept on the first night before New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley stepped in.

With the AFC on the brink of a 12-0 lead, Barkley recalled the words of Patches O’Houlihan and began to dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge en route to a key NFC victory.

Barkley did take a dodgeball to the head late in the match but per the “official rules,” headshots are not permitted. Therefore, Barkley was able to stay alive and eventually sealed the win by taking out New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis.

Entering a pivotal offseason, Giants running back Saquon Barkley’s agility and elusiveness were front and center for all to see. In a one-on-one showdown with the Saints’ Demario Davis, Barkley was side-stepping Davis’ shots with jaw-dropping maneuvering. Dodgeball or not, it was a marvel to see. Then he used his head, literally, to lead the NFC offense to a victory. Davis looked to have won the matchup when he fired a shot that nailed Barkley, but the Big Blue RB immediately pointed to his head and pointed out that per the official Pro Bowl Games Rulebook (not sure if that exists, actually), head shots are disallowed. Thusly, Saquon led his team to a triumph with some elite footwork and field generalship. It also led to the NFC offense winning the dodgeball tournament and preventing a shutout on the first day of the games.

Thanks to Barkley, the NFC was able to put three points on the board and will head into Sunday’s competition finale trailing 9-3.
