Usher and Ludacris inspired some hysterical Dodgeball jokes with their purple Super Bowl halftime outfits

Okay, this was pretty funny.

The Super Bowl halftime show always inspires some great moments and some great jokes. Usher’s fantastic performance accomplished both.

Whether it was the music legend skating around on roller skates or performing with Alicia Keys, there was plenty to talk about during the star-studded halftime show.

One of the best parts of the performance was Usher teaming up with Ludacris and Lil Jon to bring back the 2004 club anthem “Yeah!” for everyone in Las Vegas and at home.

However, Usher and Ludacris wore these really fascinating purple outfits that reminded everyone of the movie Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.

In that film, Ben Stiller’s villainous White Goodman led the team you rooted against, the Globo Gym Purple Cobras, who wore purple outfits when they played on the dodgeball court in the movie.

Usher and Ludacris sporting those purple outfits had everyone thinking about Dodgeball and the Purple Cobras in particular.

The Average Joes are back as a Dodgeball sequel is officially in the works

Get ready, Dodgeball fans. A sequel to the 2004 sports comedy is in early development.

Movie fans can prepare to once again dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge.

Deadline reported on Thursday that a sequel to the beloved sports comedy Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story is in the works.

Actor Vince Vaughn will return to star in the sequel as Peter LaFleur, the Average Joe’s gym owner who leads a ragtag dodgeball team to a national tournament to save their workout establishment from the grips of the evil Globo Gym owner White Goodman (Ben Stiller).

The original film came out in 2004 and grossed $168.4 million as a summer hit.

Deadline reports that only Vaughn and a writer (Jordan VanDina, who wrote the 2020 comedy The Binge) are attached to the project at the moment.

Plot details aren’t yet known, but Dodgeball fans can rest assured that there will be plenty of laughs (and dodgeball action) in store.

No release date is yet known, but fans can probably expect the sequel to hit the dodgeball court sometime in the next couple of years.

Just don’t expect a direct-to-ESPN 8: The Ocho release.

Controversial officiating call costs Demario Davis a win at Pro Bowl dodgeball game

WATCH: A controversial officiating call costs Demario Davis a win at Thursday night’s Pro Bowl dodgeball game

The New Orleans Saints just can’t escape last-minute officiating gaffes. Linebacker Demario Davis earned his first-ever trip to the Pro Bowl Games this season, and he was put in a big spot during one of the event’s first highlights: the NFC Dodgeball game, in which Davis made the final throw.

He beamed New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley in the head with a dart that would have won the game for the NFC defense — it’s a miracle Barkley’s bucket hat didn’t go sailing away. But the referees said Davis illegally hit Barkley in the face, which led to his disqualification and instead a win for the NFC offense.

But it made for terrific content, with an instant reaction from the crowd and Davis’s teammate Cameron Jordan cheering him on after what they thought was the game-winning throw. Ah well. They’ll have other opportunities to shine in upcoming events like the flag football game on Sunday.

How to watch Demario Davis and Cameron Jordan at the Pro Bowl Games

How to watch Saints defenders Demario Davis and Cameron Jordan at the Pro Bowl Games:

The NFL has shaken up this year’s Pro Bowl events schedule to appeal to more fans and draw a bigger crowd, focusing more heavily on skills competitions and minigames to showcase the best athletes in the world in their element. And two New Orleans Saints stars will be looking to stand out as Pro Bowlers in Las Vegas: linebacker Demario Davis and defensive end Cameron Jordan.

Davis will compete in Thursday night’s dodgeball competition and Sunday’s flag football game (for which he’s gotten some technique lessons from Eli Manning), while Jordan is competing in the lightning round contest on Thursday and the gridiron gauntlet on Sunday.

This year’s Pro Bowl Games will be broadcast on ESPN beginning Thursday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. CT. We’ll be watching the Saints players in attendance to see how they stack up against their peers from around the league.

WATCH: Quenton Nelson Gets Wakeup Call in Pro Bowl Dodgeball

Participating in the Dodgeball Competition in the Pro Bowl Skills Competition, Nelson had a ball bounce of his hands right before another, well, gave Big Q a wakeup call.

Good morning and happy Friday to all of you!

Crazy weather across the Midwest aka winter (it happens every year) so what better way to wake up this Friday and get ready for your weekend than by watching a former Notre Dame star participate in the NFL’s Pro Bowl Skills Competition?

All-World offensive guard Quenton Nelson of the Indianapolis Colts is a beast. He’s in rare-air in that he’s been a First-Team All-Pro in both of his first two NFL seasons, he’s the straw that stirs the drink for the Colts offensive line and he’s got perhaps the best set of highlights we’ve ever seen for a guard.

One thing he doesn’t appear to have however is a great set of hands.

Participating in the Dodgeball Game in the Pro Bowl Skills Competition, Nelson had a ball bounce of his hands right before another, well, gave Big Q a wakeup call.

All I can think of is in “Billy Madison” when Adam Sandler’s character goes hog-wild on a bunch of kids in a game of dodgeball.

In my head that is what Quenton Nelson is doing right now – storming through Disney Land destroying whoever hit him in the face and each of their teammates one by one.

Texans linebackers dress for ‘DodgeBall’ against the Broncos

Houston Texans linebackers wore outfits from the 2004 film “DodgeBall” in their pregame warmups.

One of the traditions for the 2019 season has been for the Houston Texans’ linebacking corps to wear outfits in pregame warmups that pay homage to pop culture. Last week, they dressed as the SWAT team. A week before that, it was as Mortal Kombat characters from the legendary video game from the 1990s.

Ahead of their Week 14 tilt with the Denver Broncos, Houston’s linebackers came out dressed as the characters from “DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story,” the 2004 film starring Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller. Inside linebacker Benardrick McKinney was also pushing fellow linebacker Dylan Cole in a wheelchair. The third-year pro tore his ACL in Week 12 versus the Indianapolis Colts.

According to McKinney, the unit gets together on Friday and decides what they are going to do.

“We don’t think about that until, like, Friday,” McKinney told reporters after the club’s 28-22 win over the New England Patriots in Week 13. “We just got a lot of guys with creativity that come up with it.”
