LOOK: TC Caffey and Ty Hamilton are Buckeye DUDES of the Week

Ty Hamilton and TC Caffey have been working hard in the offseason. #GoBucks

We’ve been looking around on social media and beyond for some clips and news of what’s going on inside of the Woody Hayes Athletic Center with the Ohio State football program. One of those things is definitely hard work in the weight room and beyond.

In fact, from time-to-time, we get a glimpse of some of the OSU players working up a sweat in and out of the training facilities to get ready for what’s coming down the line when the season hits. The work put in now translates often to success when the bright lights are on.

The Ohio State football creative team shared a glimpse of what’s going on via the football program’s social media page earlier this week and named to players Buckeye DUDES of the Week. Watch and see how running back TC Caffey and defensive lineman Ty Hamilton are putting in some elbow grease when it comes to conditioning during the winter.

We’ll continue to be on the lookout for some of these little nuggets as we try and get through the offseason and pull in whatever pieces of Ohio State football we can to make life bearable.

Ohio State gets another major contributor to return in 2024

Running it back. #GoBucks

Ohio State football has seen a few players leave via the transfer portal and off to the NFL.

One of those players who had a major decision was defensive tackle [autotag]Ty Hamilton[/autotag]. The fourth-year senior could have gone either way, but on Monday afternoon announced that he will be returning to Columbus for a fifth season.

This past season was Hamilton’s best in a Buckeye uniform, as he registered 38 total tackles along with two sacks. His playing time will undoubtably increase, as another defensive tackle, Michael Hall Jr., has opted to declare for the NFL.

With Hamilton now set to return and defensive end Jack Sawyer as well, the Ohio State defensive line is setting up to be on of the most formidable units in the country.

Hopefully this isn’t the last good news that the Buckeyes will hear, as there are still more than a few starters who have yet to make their decisions.

Which Ohio State football players earned their Buckeye leaves against Penn State?

Which Buckeyes earned their helmet decals against Penn State?

For 60 minutes on Saturday, Ohio State football was in a battle with visiting Penn State, and earned a gritty, hard fought 20-12 victory in front of a raucous home crowd.

With another win in the book, the Buckeyes seventh of the season, you will see plenty more Buckeye leaf decals on players helmets next week as they visit Wisconsin. (We’re getting to the point of the year where some players are almost full!)

Some of those players get them for team achievements, but these players highlighted below earned them for their individual play in our own personal grading scale. Check out who we thought played the best football for Ohio State on Saturday and deserves new helmet decals.

BOOM! Ohio State gets a commitment from transfer SEC defensive tackle

The rumors were true and finish with a BOOM! #GoBucks

The Ole Miss to [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] transfer pipeline this offseason has been flowing.

During the initial transfer period, the Buckeyes landed cornerback Davison Igbinosun, who will play an integral role this fall.

Today, another former member of the Rebels is following Igbinosun, defensive tackle [autotag]Tywone Malone[/autotag]. Earlier today the buzz was that the 6-foot, 4-inch, 305-pound defensive lineman was trending to Columbus. Turns out those rumors were true.

What remains to be known is if Malone will play baseball for the Buckeyes, as he did for the Rebels. He only played in a few games over the last two years but showed big-time power. Three of his five hits went over the fence.

Like on the diamond, Malone didn’t see the field much for the Rebels in two seasons registering just 13 tackles and 2 sacks. He was a top prospect coming out of high school, the Buckeyes offered him then as well.

Malone now lands in Columbus with the expectation that he will add some depth to the defensive tackle unit. [autotag]Mike Hall Jr[/autotag]., [autotag]Ty Hamilton[/autotag] and [autotag]Tyleik Williams[/autotag] all should be contributors this fall barring injuries. You can now add Malone to that list as the Buckeyes just got a bit deeper.

Current Ohio State defensive tackles and their 247Sports rankings

Current Ohio State defensive tackles and their 247Sports rankings #GoBucks

The Ohio State football team has seven defensive tackles on scholarship and all were relatively high recruits based on their 247Sports recruiting rating. The interior of the defensive line showed flashes of excellence, but they were honestly a tad underwhelming. No one lived up to the hype and watching Georgia really showed how far that interior of the defensive line needs to develop to be elite.

Michael Hall was a guy who was receiving huge praise from the coaching staff and teammates, and was even compared to Aaron Donald but faded towards the end of the season. Hero Kanu was just a true freshman last season, but it is only a matter of time before a player of his size is forced to see the field. Tyleik Williams is another player who showed flashes of brilliance but also had stretches of non-existence. Enough speculation though, let’s dive into the rankings of these studs.

Black Stripe Alert: Ty Hamilton next to receive honor

Ohio State freshman defensive lineman Ty Hamilton is the latest incoming player to have his black stripe removed.

Earlier today wide receiver Julian Fleming shed his black stripe, but he wasn’t the only one. In addition to him, the first defensive lineman in the freshman class, Ty Hamilton, also was recognized and lost his black stripe this weekend.

“I appreciate y’all boys man,” Hamilton said. “I want to think my unit, thank coach J (Larry Johnson) for pushing as hard as I can today. Go Bucks!”

Hamilton committed to Ohio State as a three-star recruit out of the Columbus area Pickerington Central High School. Being one of the first newcomers to lose his black stripe says something for how hard he’s working and for the respect he has already received from the coaching staff and his teammates.

Watch as Hamilton jumps up, thanks everyone for the honor, then has that black-stripe ripped off by fellow veteran defensive lineman Tommy Togiai.

Hamilton joins Trey Sermon, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Kourt Williams, Gee Scott, Jr., and Julian Fleming in all shedding their black stripes early.
