Here are some questions we want answers for on Saturday. What are yours that you want to see the Buckeyes answer? #GoBucks

Unlike many seasons for Ohio State football, there are more than a few questions surround it’s team this fall.

Many of the questions are fairly obvious, but they’re still without answers that we all want to find out about. What the start of the season brings is an opportunity for the Buckeyes to give us those answers.

Although my questions might not be exactly what yours are, we probably have at least a few of the same one’s heading into Indiana. Find out below what my questions surrounding this Ohio State team are, and hopefully, we get some answers for them by the time Saturday evening rolls around.

Ole Miss transfer Tywone Malone loses black stripe

Tywone Malone is already making some noise on the Buckeye defensive line. #GoBucks

Black stripe alert!

Ohio State gained a huge win when it earned a commitment from Tywone Malone out of the transfer portal this year. Malone seems to be fitting in with the Buckeyes just fine because he became the newest member of the Rushmen on Saturday by shedding his black stripe.

Malone comes to Columbus from Ole Miss where he was a two-sport star on the football and baseball fields. He appeared sparingly for the Rebel baseball team but made the most of his opportunities hitting two home runs and collecting four RBIs in nine at-bats. Malone is leaving the diamond behind and focusing on improving his skills on the gridiron.

Malone left Ole Miss with 13 tackles, two sacks and two pass deflections over the course of two seasons in Oxford.

Malone will have two years of eligibility left for the Bucks and will add much-needed depth on the defensive line.

Watch: New Ohio State defensive tackle Tywone Malone getting ready for camp

The big man can make a big impact this fall #GoBucks

One of the biggest transfer acquisitions for Ohio State this offseason was former Ole Miss defensive tackle [autotag]Tywone Malone[/autotag].

The 6-foot, 4-inch, 315-pound transfer dabbled as a two-sport star while playing for the Rebels. When he decided to move on from the program and head north to Columbus, Malone gave up that dream.

His sole focus going forward will be football. As a former top prospect, the No. 63 overall player in the 2021 class on the 247Sports composite, the sky is the limit. It seems Malone is going all in, as he just scratched the surface at Ole Miss.

Malone was shown working out with Leroy Thompson of Complete Players INC in this video shared below. It looks like Ohio State gained a very good player out of the portal in Malone.

BOOM! Ohio State gets a commitment from transfer SEC defensive tackle

The rumors were true and finish with a BOOM! #GoBucks

The Ole Miss to [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] transfer pipeline this offseason has been flowing.

During the initial transfer period, the Buckeyes landed cornerback Davison Igbinosun, who will play an integral role this fall.

Today, another former member of the Rebels is following Igbinosun, defensive tackle [autotag]Tywone Malone[/autotag]. Earlier today the buzz was that the 6-foot, 4-inch, 305-pound defensive lineman was trending to Columbus. Turns out those rumors were true.

What remains to be known is if Malone will play baseball for the Buckeyes, as he did for the Rebels. He only played in a few games over the last two years but showed big-time power. Three of his five hits went over the fence.

Like on the diamond, Malone didn’t see the field much for the Rebels in two seasons registering just 13 tackles and 2 sacks. He was a top prospect coming out of high school, the Buckeyes offered him then as well.

Malone now lands in Columbus with the expectation that he will add some depth to the defensive tackle unit. [autotag]Mike Hall Jr[/autotag]., [autotag]Ty Hamilton[/autotag] and [autotag]Tyleik Williams[/autotag] all should be contributors this fall barring injuries. You can now add Malone to that list as the Buckeyes just got a bit deeper.

Ohio State trending to land SEC transfer defensive tackle

Added depth on the interior would be nice #GoBucks

It was not a surprise when Ole Miss transfer defensive tackle [autotag]Tywone Malone[/autotag] decided to make a visit to [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag].

When there wasn’t much noise after his trip, it seemed like the Buckeyes were out of the race. Malone then went on to visit Miami, with many expecting him to make a verbal.

That didn’t happen either and now it seems like Malone is trending to join his former Rebels teammate Davison Igbinosun in Columbus. A 247Sports crystal ball projection was logged by Miami insider Gaby Urrutia for the defensive tackle to eventually commit to Ohio State.

[affiliatewidget_smgtolocal]

Malone was a 4-star prospect coming out of high school, ranked as the 11th defensive lineman and 63rd overall prospect according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He registered 13 tackles and 2 sacks in his two seasons with the Rebels.

Although Malone just posted yesterday that he had entered the portal, he officially submitted his paperwork almost 3 weeks ago. The reason why no announcement was made was that Malone was considering returning to play for Ole Miss.

The big defensive tackle also plays baseball, so if Malone does end up in Columbus, he will probably play on the diamond as well. He would be a welcome addition to a defensive line that could use some depth on the interior and for the baseball team that has struggled this season.

Report: Ducks show interest in Ole Miss DL transfer Tywone Malone

Report: Ducks show interest in Ole Miss DL transfer Tywone Malone

We’ve said it once, we’ve said it a million times: Even if the Oregon Ducks don’t have a major need at a certain position, that won’t always stop Dan Lanning and the coaching staff from pursuing an available player in the transfer portal if it can make them better.

Lanning has said as much several times since coming to Eugene, and we’ve seen it play out that way via multiple offers made to transfer portal players over the past couple of months.

The latest player to reportedly see some interest from Lanning and the Ducks is Ole Miss defensive lineman Tywone Malone, who entered the transfer portal a few weeks ago. Malone is a former 4-star recruit who was rated as the No. 63 player in the 2021 class. He was also recruited by Lanning and the Georgia Bulldogs back in 2020 and placed Georgia among his final 4 schools before committing to Ole Miss.

Malone played sparingly for the Rebels, seeing action in 14 games during his two seasons while racking up 13 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks. He also had two PBU’s during his time at Ole Miss.

The Ducks don’t currently have a major need for additions on the defensive line, but Malone does have three years of eligibility remaining and could be a nice piece going forward. Oregon currently have three available scholarships to work with in the offseason.

Tywone Malone’s Transfer Portal Profile

Former four-star DT in transfer portal hearing from Michigan football

#Michigan has an ace in the hole the other schools don’t! #GoBlue

If at first you don’t succeed in a top-flight player’s recruitment, perhaps you’ll get the opportunity to try again.

Such is the case for Michigan football with Tywone Malone, the former four-star defensive tackle from Oradell (New Jersey) Bergen Catholic. The Wolverines were in early on Malone; Chris Partridge was in charge of his recruitment. However, Partridge departed, taking the Ole Miss co-defensive coordinator position and that is where Malone ended up.

Now the maize and blue are getting involved with Malone once again; he’s in the NCAA transfer portal. With Partridge, his former coach in Oxford, back in Ann Arbor, it appears Malone is hearing from him and the Wolverines once again.

But Malone is also hearing from Miami, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, and USC. Of course, the Wolverines have a feather in their cap given Partridge won him over once, he could do it again.

Regardless, the former 2021 recruiting class four-star, who was the No. 63 player in the country on the 247Sports composite, isn’t a must for Michigan football this year. The Wolverines are happy with a four-man rotation in the middle with Kris Jenkins, Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant and Rayshaun Benny. But, should Malone pledge to the Wolverines, that would help solidify the line beyond this year, given that Jenkins will be off to the NFL after this year.

Last season, Malone had 10 tackles and a sack, improving on three tackles and a sack his freshman year. He’ll have two years of eligibility at his next school of choice.

National Signing Day: Top 100 DT Tywone Malone commits to Ole Miss

Four-star Bergen Catholic (N.J.) defensive tackle Tywone Malone committed to Ole Miss to play both football and baseball Wednesday.

Four-star Bergen Catholic (N.J.) defensive tackle Tywone Malone committed to Ole Miss to play both football and baseball Wednesday afternoon.

Malone picked Ole Miss over a group of finalists consisting of Florida State, Rutgers, Tennessee, Texas A&M and USC. Each school was in contact with Malone on both the football and baseball said leading up to National Signing Day, but Malone’s relationship with both Ole Miss coaching staffs won out at the end of the day.

An injury cut Malone’s senior season at Bergen Catholic, but the mammoth 6-foot-4, 305-pound defensive tackle starred as a junior, recording 54 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and seven sacks. Malone also starred on the diamond as a first baseman for the Crusaders and will continue his baseball career in the SEC at the position.

Malone is the No. 62 recruit, No. 6 defensive tackle and top prospect in New Jersey in the class of 2021 according to 247Sports. His scouting report reads:

Big-framed defensive lineman with good height and length. Measured 34-inch arms as a sophomore and an 80-inch wingspan as a junior. Also owns college-ready mass with build to fit multiple fronts. Experience inside and on the edge vs. good high school competition. Flashes impressive strength-to-power ability as a stout bull rusher. Length and strength foster stack-and-shed ability vs. the run. Keeps his eyes forward and locates the ball well. Somewhat of a short-strider who redirects adequately relative to size. Generally quick off the ball. Strong tackler who arrives with purpose. Two-sport athlete who plans to play football and baseball in college. Pad level is adequate but can show more consistency in that department. Tools-laden defensive lineman who will need to expand move set and overall nuance. Legitimate high-major D-line prospect who could become multi-year impact starter with a real shot at reaching the NFL Draft.

Tennessee in top 6 for elite 2021 defensive tackle

The Vols have a chance to sign this elite prospect from the northeast.

Tennessee is still in the conversation to land Tywone Malone, a 2021 defensive tackle prospect from Oradell, New Jersey.

Malone is not only a blue-chip interior defensive lineman, but also a high-level baseball player.

The Vols are included with USC, Rutgers, Ole Miss, Florida State and Texas A&M in Malone’s final decision.

A 6-foot-3.5, 300-pound lineman, Malone is rated a 4-star prospect, and the No. 5 defensive tackle in his class per the 247Sports Composite. A strong, powerful defender, Malone is also the top prospect in New Jersey.

The Vols have a few connections that could help bring Malone to Knoxville.

Tight ends coach Joe Osovet is listed as his primary recruiter, a coach who is familiar with the northeast, having spent much of his career coaching JUCO football in New York.

Malone also attends Bergen Catholic High School in New Jersey, the alma mater of current Tennessee quarterback Jarrett Guarantano. A burgeoning baseball program at UT under Tony Vitello could also help in the effort for Malone’s signature.

The Vols’ 2021 recruiting class currently sits at No. 6 in the country, and No. 3 in the SEC. Tennessee currently has two defensive tackle commits, including 4-star prospect KaTron Evans.

UGA, Ohio State among 4-star Tywone Malone’s top schools

The Georgia Bulldogs and Ohio State Buckeyes made the top schools for four-star 2021 defensive tackle Tywone Malone.

The Georgia Bulldogs and Ohio State Buckeyes are in the list of top schools for four-star defensive tackle Tywone Malone. Malone is a the best recruit in New Jersey in the class of 2021. He plays high school football and baseball at Bergen Catholic.

Malone is 6-3 and weighs 300 pounds. He’s got the size to play college football as a freshman.

Malone announced his top schools via Twitter. His recruitment remains open:

Tywone Malone puts Georgia, Florida, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, Rutgers, LSU, FSU, Virginia Tech, USC, Ole Miss, and Alabama in his top schools. Where will he go next?

Malone, like many elite recruits in the northeast, is projected to go to Ohio State. However nothing is set in stone.

Kirby Smart and Georgia would love for Malone to come to Athens. He’d join Knowhson Moreno as elite New Jersey recruits to commit to UGA.
