5 burning questions ahead of Eagles vs. 49ers in NFC Championship Game

The San Francisco 49ers are heading to Lincoln Financial Field as the No. 2 overall seed and with the reputation of having the NFL’s top defense.

Even with elite pass rushers and an All-Pro linebacker, this 49ers’ defense has holes and it can be found in the back four, and when teams are able to physically match up with DeMeco Ryan’s defense up front.

Philadelphia (14-3) defeated the New York Giants 38-7 on Saturday to clinch a spot in the title game and then watched on Sunday evening, as the Niners (13-4) defeated the Cowboys 19-12 at Levi’s Stadium.

With kick-off just a few hours away, here are five burning questions that need to be answered.

Seahawks rookie Abe Lucas makes top 40 PFF OTs for 2022 season

The Seahawks hit several home runs in the 2022 NFL draft, most importantly securing two potential long-term starters at the offensive tackle positions.

The Seahawks hit several home runs in the 2022 NFL draft, most importantly securing two probable long-term starters at the offensive tackle positions.

The team’s No. 9 overall pick Charles Cross had a strong rookie season at left tackle, posting a respectable 63.1 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, which ranked him No. 67 at his position. The real find was third-round right tackle Abe Lucas from Washington State, though. Lucas earned a 68.4 overall grade, which was enough to crack the top 40 players at his position.

Their early success is particularly impressive given how Seattle deployed them. Only Tampa and Philadelphia left their tackles on an island at a higher rate.

Cross is 22 and Lucas is 24, so the best is likely yet to come.

Here’s the complete top 40 OT rankings from PFF.
