LOOK: Five-star commit Tony Mitchell trolls the Texas Longhorns

Five-star Alabama commit Tony Mitchell trolls the Texas Longhorns on Twitter.

Five-star defensive back prospect [autotag]Tony Mitchell[/autotag] committed to Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide in late June and has been putting in work on the recruiting trail since.

On Saturday, Mitchell tweeted out his recruiting pitch to fellow in-state prospect [autotag]Hunter Osborne[/autotag]. Mitchell’s technique was straight to the point by simply saying, “why not ‘Bama?”.

Current Texas Longhorns commit Johntay Cook responded to Mitchell’s tweet by saying “why not Texas?”. That’s when things got interesting and Mitchell jumped from the proverbial top rope. Mitchell responded in the most Alabama way possible by saying “cause ppl wanna win”.

Cook would reply with “bet on ya self” but Mitchell’s point was made and it’s hard to argue with the facts.

Here is the series of tweets:

Alabama Morning Drive: Tide adds speedy WR Cole Adams to 2023 class

Can anyone slow down Alabama’s momentum on the recruiting trail?

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome back to another edition of Alabama Morning Drive. Now that we’ve made it to Thursday, we are just one day away from a long holiday weekend.

If you thought recruiting news had been hot, just wait to see what happens over the next few days!

Speaking of recruiting, Nick Saban and Alabama added one of the nation’s best slot receiver prospects to the class of 2023 on Wednesday night when four-star [autotag]Cole Adams[/autotag] announced his commitment to the Tide.

Adams is a playmaking wideout from Oklahoma who chose the Crimson Tide over the in-state Sooners and other high-level programs such as Arkansas, LSU, Michigan State, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.

Let’s take a look at a few other stories that Tide fans should be following.

Texas lands 2023 five-star safety Derek Williams over Crimson Tide

Alabama beat out for the five-star safety

Five-star safety, Derek Williams, has committed to the University of Texas over Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, and others.

Williams is the No. 3 safety in the 2023 recruiting cycle and the No. 37 player overall. Coming in at 6’2 and 185-pounds, Williams has an outstanding frame to succeed at the collegiate and professional levels and he comes out of New Iberia, Louisiana.

Williams would have been a massive get for the Tide because the possibility of pairing him with recent commit [autotag]Tony Mitchell[/autotag] would have been something special.

Instead, he will join former Alabama offensive coordinator [autotag]Steve Sarkisian[/autotag] in Austin and will attempt to revive the Texas brand.

Alabama is projected to land 4-star JUCO transfer WR Malik Benson

Alabama likely to land No. 1 JUCO player in the country

After a massive commitment from five-star DB [autotag]Tony Mitchell[/autotag] last night, [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] is working to continue to add to the loaded 2023 class. The class already boasts two five-stars and four four-stars already.

Chad Simmons of On3 is now predicting that the Crimson Tide may add four-star WR Malik Benson as well. Benson is the No. 1 overall JUCO player in the country out of Hutchinson C.C. in Kansas. Benson just visited Tuscaloosa two weekends ago.

Roll Tide wire will continue to follow Benson’s recruitment and how it impacts the Crimson Tide.

Alabama Morning Drive: Tide receives a pair of Sunday commitments

Nick Saban and Alabama certainly had a good weekend.

Good Monday morning, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome back to Alabama Morning Drive! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. And what a massive recruiting weekend it turned out to be for [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The good news started on Sunday afternoon when three-star athlete [autotag]Brayson Hubbard[/autotag] announced his commitment to Alabama. If that wasn’t enough good news for Tide fans, later Sunday evening, five-star defensive back Tony Mitchell also made his verbal pledge to the Crimson Tide.

Hubbard is a talented prospect who plays quarterback for his high school team but will most likely transition to the defensive side of the ball in college and play safety.

Mitchell is an all-world safety prospect who just a couple of weeks ago was receiving a lot of buzz in favor of SEC rival Texas A&M. It appears as if coach Saban and the rest of the staff in Tuscaloosa showed everything they needed to in order to secure Mitchell’s commitment.

Both announcements were made on Twitter.

Let’s take a look at a few other stories that Alabama fans need to be following this morning.

5-star DB Tony Mitchell makes commitment

5-star DB Tony Mitchell has made his decision

On Sunday, 2023 5-star defensive back Tony Mitchell, a top Georgia target, announced his commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Mitchell (Alabaster, Alabama) is the No. 2 cornerback in this class, and the No. 15 player overall.

Mitchell was choosing between Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, and Texas A&M before ultimately deciding to roll with the Tide.

In 2020, Mitchell won a state championship (Class 7A) in dramatic fashion with Thompson High School. Mitchell has won three state championships during his impressive high school career. The talented five-star recruit is a rising senior and received immense recruiting interest from some of the nation’s top college football programs.

Alabama lands massive commitment from 2023 five-star DB Tony Mitchell

Nick Saban lands biggest commitment of 2023 class this far!

[autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama Crimson Tide landed their biggest commitment of the 2023 class thus far with five-star safety Tony Mitchell today. Mitchell is the No. 2 cornerback in this class, and the No. 15 player overall.

Mitchell is an in-state product out of Alabaster and keeping him in Alabama was one of the Crimson Tide’s biggest goals in this recruiting class. Mitchell is 6’2 and 180 pounds and will look to compete for playing time as soon as he steps on campus.

He chose Alabama over offers from Tennessee, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Michigan and others.

An absolutely massive commitment for the Tide to land.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama football and the future recruiting classes.

Aggies make final four for top cornerback prospect, Tony Mitchell

Aggies make final four for top cornerback prospect, Tony Mitchell

Texas A&M has officially made the final four school list for one of the top defensive prospects in the nation in the 2023 recruiting class, cornerback, Tony Mitchell. He recently made the announcement via Twitter, with his full list consisting of Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M, and Georgia.

With his first official visit set for October 28th to visit Auburn, Mitchell has unofficially visited Texas A&M four times since last June, as the Aggies have trended up every month since then, finally showing that their efforts have paid off, and looking forward to making their final recruiting push going into the fall.

From my most recent recruiting profile evaluating the future star, I described his ability on the field:

Mitchell is a long, lean, and highly athletic cornerback who currently stands at 6-2, 180lbs with room to grow. From a coverage standpoint, Mitchell is a polished mover with great change of direction ability, aided by his smooth hips which help during his transitions, and his patience in coverage and great ball instincts while focusing on his man. He has the lateral quickness and vertical ability to cover any level on the field which may ultimately make him more of a safety prospect, depending on the program he chooses.

Tony Mitchell will ultimately make his decision based on how he envisions his football future transpiring, the coaching staff he trusts the most during his visits, and which college football environment will bring out the best in him for the next 3 to 4 years. But I will say this, he sure looks great in maroon and white!

Five-star 2023 safety has Auburn in top four schools

It could be an uphill battle for the Tigers to land the in-state prospect.

A highly touted recruit has put Auburn in his final four schools.

Tony Mitchell, a 2023 recruit out of Alabaster, Alabama, included the Tigers in his final list of teams that also includes Alabama, Texas A&M and Georgia. Although Auburn is among the final teams, it looks like it will be an uphill battle to land the five-star product for coach [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag] and his staff.

Mitchell has been projected by three different 247Sports experts to Auburn’s eternal rival in the Alabama Crimson Tide. Although Mitchell is scheduled for a visit to the Plains in late October, it is still seeming unlikely that the Tigers will be able to land him unless they push much harder for his recruitment in the coming months.

Auburn could certainly use the help. The Tigers have offered 15 safeties for the 2023 class with only one recruit in four-star prospect Terrance Love. Great defensive backs are a commodity teams can never have enough of in college football, so it will be interesting to see what Harsin and his staff do with their recruiting efforts for Mitchell as time passes.

Mitchell has no timetable for his decision at the moment, but his visit to Auburn on October 28 is currently the only official visit remaining that he currently has scheduled.

UGA football in 5-star DB’s final four

The Georgia Bulldogs have made five-star defensive back Tony Mitchell’s top four schools.

The Georgia Bulldogs have made five-star defensive back Tony Mitchell’s top four schools. Mitchell is already an accomplished high school athlete in Alabaster, Alabama.

The five-star defensive back considers Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, and Texas A&M to be his top schools. Mitchell is favored to commit to the Alabama Crimson Tide per 247Sports.

In 2020, Mitchell won a state championship (Class 7A) in dramatic fashion with Thompson High School. Mitchell has won three state championships during his impressive high school career. The talented five-star recruit is a rising senior and received immense recruiting interest from some of the nation’s top college football programs.

Tony Mitchell is ranked as the No. 2 cornerback in the class of 2023 and the No. 15 overall prospect. Mitchell is the No. 2 recruit in Alabama. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound defender has desirable size for a cornerback prospect.

Mitchell no longer is strongly considering some of his previous top schools like LSU, Clemson, Florida, and Oregon.

The Alabaster standout announced his latest list of top schools via his Twitter account:
