Thursday betting odds for Florida at Vanderbilt, per BetMGM

According to BetMGM, the Florida Gators hold a massive edge heading into Saturday’s college football game with the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Behind six touchdown passes from star redshirt senior quarterback Kyle Trask, five of which came in the first half, the Florida Gators raced past Feleipe Franks and the Arkansas Razorbacks, 63-35, on November 14 to improve to 5-1 and maintain their No. 5 ranking in the Amway Coaches Poll Powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Just two days away from taking to the field again, which will come at Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville against Derrick Mason’s Commodores, the Gators’ betting odds also held steady, with BetMGM listing Dan Mullen’s squad as a 31.5-point favorite.

The over/under has dropped a notch to 67.5.

Kicking off at 12 p.m. EST, this game will be available on ESPN, including the option to live stream on the network’s app, and can be heard on the Gator Radio Network.

Thursday betting odds for Florida vs Arkansas, per BetMGM

Florida Gators football vs Arkansas Razorbacks BetMGM has Florida has a heavy favorite in the game being played in The Swamp this Saturday.

[jwplayer rsybIgFL]

Just days away, the Florida Gators will host the Arkansas Razorbacks in The Swamp to kick off the second half of UF’s schedule. Now five games in with a 4-1 record — including a big win over rival Georgia — the boys in Orange and Blue sit in the SEC East Division driver’s seat.

Arkansas comes to town sporting an even 3-3 record, and while it has had a relatively decent season so far, the ‘Backs represent the midpoint of mediocrity in the conference. As such, UF is strongly favored in this matchup.

BetMGM oddsmakers still list the Gators as a 17.5-point favorite, while the over/under dropped two points to 60.5.

The game will kick off at 7 p.m. EST in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN, can be live-streamed on the ESPN app and can be heard on the Gators Radio Network.

The Dallas Cowboys appear to be getting the band back together on defense, and with the loss of quarterback Dak Prescott it couldn’t be a moment too soon. In last week’s win over the New York Giants, corner Anthony Brown played for the first time since Week 1. After suffering a rib injury during the following week’s practice, Brown’s absence came on the heels of three other Week 1 injuries that included the loss of middle linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, who has suffered a broken collarbone.

After successful surgery and a speedier-than-anticipated recovery schedule, Vander Esch appears ready to test the reconstructed area with a padded, contact practice on Friday. If all goes well, he’ll suit up on Monday night when the Cowboys take on Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals, according to Jane Slater of the NFL Network.

Vander Esch only appeared in nine games in 2019, and some of those for only a handful of snaps. A neck injury was the cause then, but it appears unrelated to his current ailment. The 2018 Pro Bowler was having an outstanding camp and will hopefully be the first in a continuous line of defensive additions over the next several weeks.

CB Chidobe Awuzie has been out since Week 2 with a hamstring injury. DE Randy Gregory (suspension) can be activated to the roster following this week’s contest and will play next week against Washington. Linebacker Sean Lee (sports hernia) seems to be nearing a return as well.

The Dallas defense has been bad this season, ranking near or at the bottom of the league in volume statistics and in the bottom half of the league in efficiency stats. Having more talent available will hopefully be a boost to their performance.

We’ll update with more injury news as it rolls in.

Throwback Thursday: Texas vs Texas Tech 2009

In 2009, Texas was looking for revenge against Texas Tech. Let by some good defense, the Longhorns were able to do that with a 34-24 win.

To open Big 12 play in 2009, Texas hosted Texas Tech in what was a revenge game from the year before. In 2008, the Red Raiders beat the Longhorns, giving them their only loss of the season. This year, Texas made sure they would not come in their way of a perfect season.

Ranked No. 2 in the country, Texas was led offensively by quarterback Colt McCoy and wide receiver Jordan Shipley. The two connected 11 times for 73 yards. Shipley also returned a first-quarter punt 46 yards to give Texas a 7-3 lead.

Hunter Lawrence kicked a field goal in the first minute in the second quarter and that was the only scoring of the first half. Texas went into the locker room winning 10-7.

The second half was the opposite of the first, with each team finding their rhythm on offense. The first four drives in the half had four touchdowns, two for each team. Running backs Tre Newton and Cody Johnson found the endzone for Texas, while Texas Tech quarterback Taylor Potts found wide receiver Lyle Leong twice to make it 24-17 in favor of the Longhorns.

With the good, also came the bad. The four drives after the scores were a Texas punt, Potts interception, McCoy interception, and a Sergio Kindle strip-sack on Potts. After the fumble, the Longhorns finally took advantage of a turnover, as McCoy found wide receiver Dan Buckner for a three-yard score.

The Red Raiders responded with another Taylor Potts touchdown, but Texas was able to ice the game with a nine-play, 50-yard drive that ended in a Lawrence field goal to give the Longhorns a 34-24 lead. Texas forced a turnover on downs and got their revenge against Texas Tech.

While Potts’ 420 yards was the most the Longhorn defense allowed all year, Texas held Texas Tech to -6 yards on the ground. They also forced five fumbles, but only recovered two of them. Add an interception and the Longhorns forced three turnovers.

Colt McCoy had one of his worst days of the regular season, throwing his only multiple interception game. Tre Newton led the team in rushing, having 88 yards on 20 carries.

This game started a six-game winning streak in the series for the Longhorns. Tomorrow’s matchup will make it a decade since this matchup and Texas has gone 8-2 in those 10 games. With a win tomorrow, they can keep that 8-2 record in the 2010s.

Texas will face Texas Tech on Friday at 11:00 a.m. on Fox.

PODCAST: Can Bills carry consistency vs. Broncos into Cowboys meeting?

Buffalo Bills podcast following Week 12 in over Denver Broncos, ahead of Thanksgiving meetings vs. Cowboys.

The Buffalo Bills won their second straight game to improve to 8-3 on the season for the first time since 1996. It was a remarkable game, with the team displaying proficiency in all three phases of football that put up points and yardage on a top defense, halting a strong run offense, and did it’s job on special teams.

Denver had played much better than it’s record until this point, and they hit an absolute brick wall at New Era Field. The Bills defense only allowed 167 yards of total offense in Week 12. Buffalo downed talented running backs Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman. In fact, it seemed that Broncos play calling didn’t aim to target Buffalo’s sketchy run defense in the second half, as they became very pass happy and one-dimensional.

In the Broncos closest venture towards the end zone, they could not get the job done as Tre’Davious White was essentially handed an interception and a broken route intended for Courtland Sutton, who was held for one catch in the outing.

The offense did well, aside from a bad Josh Allen interception that gave Denver some of the best field positioning that they had all day. 244 yards on the ground, again dominated by Devin Singletary.

However, the big news was that, Frank Gore, the journeyman running back, passed Barry Sanders to become third all-time in rushing yards. A tremendous accomplishment, and extra satisfying that it happened with him wearing a Bills jersey.

Buffalo prepares for Dallas on a short week for this Thursday, as the Bills play their first Thanksgiving game in several years. The quick turnaround has affected many teams this year, not being allowed to play to their full potential. Everyone is already hard at work at One Bills Drive to ensure the Bills are prepared for their latest National Spotlight opportunity.

Podcast Hosts Matt and Jeremy examine the win over Denver, and the road to Dallas:
