Stock up, stock down following the Bills’ win over the Texans

Stock up, stock down following the #Bills’ win over the #Texans (via @mckennamiddle):

The Buffalo Bills advanced to 3-1 on the season with a dominant 40-0 victory over the inept Houston Texans.

It was a wet and rainy day in Western New York that saw plenty of sloppy play from the away team. Outside of an interception from Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen and a poor red zone possession, the Bills played a flawless game.

With the Kansas City Chiefs on the horizon let’s look back at who played well and who didn’t against the Houston Texans in this week’s stock report:

Bills shuffle offensive line, Cody Ford benched vs. Texans

#Bills shuffle offensive line, Cody Ford benched vs. #Texans:

The Buffalo Bills made a notable change to their offensive line in Week 4 against the Houston Texans.

Announced as the team’s starting lineup was an offensive line that did not include Cody Ford. It appears he has been benched.

In place for Ford was an interesting twist as well.

Starting at right guard is Daryl Williams, who slides over from right tackle. In Williams’ place is rookie third-round pick Spencer Brown on the outside at tackle.

At left guard is Ike Boettger, who’s starting in place of Jon Feliciano, who was ruled out due to a concussion.

Still starting at left tackle and center, respectively, are Dion Dawkins and Mitch Morse.

Ford was a second-round pick of the Bills in 2019.

Panthers cut QB Will Grier

The Will Grier experiment (if you could’ve called it that) is now over for the Carolina Panthers.

Two years ago, former Carolina Panthers general manager Marty Hurney had the fortitude to rank Will Grier higher up on his draft board than he did Kyler Murray. Today, new general manager Scott Fitterer had the fortitude to squash that mistake.

2019 third-round selection Will Grier was amongst the team’s early cuts on Tuesday morning. So not only has the 26-year-old quarterback lost out in the battle for the backup spot to starter Sam Darnold, but he’s now lost out on his spot completely.

Grier struggled to see the field since he was drafted, then struggled when he did, totaling just 228 yards, zero touchdowns and four interceptions while completing 28 of his 52 attempts (53.8 percent) over his only two appearances. Although he wasn’t as offensive this preseason, he obviously did not do enough to inspire the staff to keep him onboard into his third year.

Joining Grier in the early cuts are outside linebacker Christian Miller (the pick after Grier in 2019), linebacker Josh Bynes, wide receivers Omar Bayless, C.J. Saunders and Keith Kirkwood, tight end Stephen Sullivan, offensive linemen Sam Tecklenburg, Mike Horton and Aaron Monteiro, running back Spencer Brown, cornerback Jalen Julius and defensive lineman Frank Herron.

Carolina Panthers 53-man roster projection: Final cuts edition

Who’s staying in and who’s going out? Here are our projections for the Panthers’ initial 53-man roster.

Bloody Tuesday is upon us and the Carolina Panthers have some cleaning up to do. So who stays and who goes as they cut down their personnel before that 4 p.m. ET deadline in a few days?

Here are our projections for the team’s initial 53-man roster for the 2021 regular season.

Panthers snap counts: OLs Tecklenburg, Christensen do work vs. Colts

C Sam Tecklenburg and RT/RG Brady Christensen stepped up for the Panthers on Sunday.

The Carolina Panthers strolled into Lucas Oil Stadium yesterday afternoon relatively shorthanded for their 2021 preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts. Each of the team’s projected starters didn’t touch their pads, plus they were already dealing with a handful of injuries to the 90-man roster.

So, with the results now officially in, did Sunday’s snap counts come out a little funky? Well, all in all, they were probably what many would’ve expected to be.

But, more importantly, what can we deduce from these early numbers?

Bills sign Spencer Brown, full 2021 rookie class under contract

The #Bills now have every member of their 2021 NFL draft class signed:

We can now officially welcome the Buffalo Bills’ entire 2021 rookie class to the NFL.

On Tuesday, the Bills announced that offensive lineman Spencer Brown signed his four-year rookie deal. He was Buffalo’s third-round pick at the No. 93 overall spot.

With Brown now under contract, the Bills’ entire rookie class, all eight selections, are now signed and ready to go.

Brown signing comes just in time as well.

The Bills won’t start their 2021 training camp, in full with veterans, until next week. However, rookies will traditionally report early and Buffalo’s 2021 first years are expected to do so on Tuesday.

Had Brown not signed his deal, he wouldn’t have been able to take part in the first day. We won’t hear from Brown and the rest of the Bills’ rookie class until next week, though.

Brown, a massive 6-foot-9 offensive lineman from the University of Northern Iowa, will have to earn any potential playing time he gets next season in training camp. The better path to playing early in his career might be on the inside of Buffalo’s offensive line.

But considering recent his background playing tackle in college, Brown might be better suited for the team’s swing tackle spot behind Dion Dawkins and Daryl Williams.

Panthers 2021 training camp: 5 under-the-radar players to watch on offense

Here are five under-the-radar players to watch on offense during 2021 training camp.

The Carolina Panthers begin their 2021 training camp schedule on July 28. Once it begins, we will be hearing a lot about big names like Christian McCaffrey, Sam Darnold and Brian Burns along the way. A lot of guys will wind up flying under the radar, though.

Let’s take a look at five players on offense who will be worth following as training camp unfolds this year.

Panthers bring on DL Frank Herron once again

Panthers bring on DL Frank Herron once again

Just 16 days after the team waived him to make room for a pair of undrafted rookies, the Carolina Panthers are bringing back defensive lineman Frank Herron.

The 26-year-old initially jumped on with the Panthers a little over a month ago, signing alongside running back Mikey Daniel and nose tackle P.J. Johnson in mid-April. Herron, again, would then be waived on May 10 as Carolina brought in linebacker Paddy Fisher and running back Spencer Brown.

The 6-foot-4, 305-pounder has played in seven NFL games, each with the Detroit Lions. He recorded 11 combined tackles (one for a loss) between the 2019 and 2020 seasons.

Defensive lineman Kendall Donnerson, as also announced by the team, was waived to now make way for Herron.
