Exploring the #Bills’ biggest offseason needs in 2024:

The Buffalo Bills enter the offseason in an all-too-familiar place, coming off a third consecutive division-round exit from the NFL postseason.

With areas to strengthen and to improve upon from their 2023 campaign, GM Brandon Beane and the team’s front office are facing one of the most crucial offseasons of his tenure.

Beane will once more be tasked with ingenuity in creating the financial space off the field while adding talent and filling positions to improve the team.

With free agency, the NFL Draft, and big financial decisions on personnel and committing dollars ahead, here is a look at the biggest offseason needs for the Bills in 2024:

LOOK: #Bills snow sculpture of Josh Allen, Tyler Bass:

After a tough moment for Bills kicker Tyler Bass, quarterback Josh Allen did his best to pick him up.

Following the Bills’ 27-24 loss to the Chiefs in the divisional round of the playoffs, Allen was spotted giving Bass a hug after his late missed field goal that would have tied the game.

That moment is now frozen in time.

Buffalo-area artist Eric Jones constructed this snow sculpture of the two. It was built outside of the Ten Lives Club, which is the cat adoption group Bass supports. The foundation saw thousands of donations come pouring in from Bills Mafia after the loss.

Harrison Butker comments on Bills kicker Tyler Bass following missed field goal

Harrison Butker commented on #Bills kicker Tyler Bass following his missed field goal against the #Chiefs on Sunday.

The ending of the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills divisional round game shocked many fans. The Kansas City victory wasn’t the surprise but more for the missed potential game-tying field goal from reliable Bills kicker Tyler Bass.

The Chiefs were clinging to a three-point lead with under two minutes remaining. Bass pushed a 44-yard field goal attempt wide right, cementing a 27-24 Kansas City victory. Harrison Butker was on the other sideline that night and shared his thoughts while speaking with reporters on Wednesday.

“I actually didn’t reach out to him at all. It was unfortunate,” Butker explained. “I’m just trying to give him some time away, probably to clear his head from kicking and kind of enjoy the offseason a little bit. But I’ll probably text him later on this offseason. He’s a guy that went to Georgia Southern, so I’ve kicked with him in the offseason.”

Butker converted on his two field goal attempts of the game last Sunday in Buffalo and understands the pressure kickers face during big games. He believes Bass will bounce back from this bad moment but needs time to regroup.

“He’s a great kicker, and I really think he does a great job,” Butker said. “But just giving him a little space right now. And it’s tough because as a kicker, you’re gonna have games like that, where you miss a kick and, ideally, it’s not a big game, but you can prepare and do everything you can, but sometimes, the cards just don’t fall in your favor. And that’s why it’s so important to remain humble because it can happen to any of us.”

The Chiefs kicker has another big game this Sunday in Baltimore and has proven to be ready for the moment in the past.

Bills Mafia supports Tyler Bass by donating to cat adoption group

Lovely:

Bills Mafia are widely known for supporting a good cause in an effort to give a lending hand to one of their own.

Tyler Bass is feeling that support now… and so are area cats.

The Bills lost 27-24 to the Chiefs in the AFC divisional round. Bass had an opportunity to tie the game but missed a kick to the right.

In the locker room after the final whistle, Bass took responsibility.

Even so, Bass went on to deactivate his social media accounts as there were reports and claims that he was receiving abuse on the internet.

Since then, Bills Mafia has entered the ring to back him up with some dollars.

Fans have since donated to the Ten Lives Club cat adoption group which Bass supports. According to the team’s radio partner WGR-550, the number of donations has swelled above $100,000. Many of those being made are coming in the form of $22 submissions, representing Bass and his No. 2 that he wears.

It’s tough to make a mistake at such a critical moment in the game, but once again, Bills fans have shown compassion.

With that, here is the BillsWire’s final report card for the Buffalo Bills 2023 season following the team’s 27-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs:

What we learned from the Bills’ playoff loss to the Chiefs

What we learned from the #Bills’ playoff loss to the #Chiefs:

The Bills’ six-game winning streak and playoff run came to a windy and chilly end Sunday night at home in Highmark Stadium.

It didn’t help that it was against their AFC rival, the Kansas City Chiefs, who knocked Buffalo out of the playoffs for the third time in four years with a 27-24 victory.

That’s not to say the game wasn’t revealing in terms of insights and both pros and cons worth weighing going into the offseason.

With that, here are three things we learned from Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs:

Bills Mafia showed support for kicker Tyler Bass by mass donating to cat adoption group

Bills Mafia is once again proving why it’s unrivaled.

We already knew the Buffalo Bills have one of the best fanbases in professional sports, and it’s proving why once again this week.

The Bills’ season came to an end on Sunday night with a 27-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs. A field goal attempt from kicker Tyler Bass with less than two minutes to play would have tied the game, but Bass’ kick sailed wide right.

Rather than turn on Bass, who has played for the team since it drafted him in the sixth round in 2020, the Bills Mafia rushed to his support. According to a report from The Buffalo News, fans have donated thousands of dollars and counting to the Ten Lives Club, a cat adoption group Bass has worked with in the past.

Kimberly LaRussa, who works with the Ten Lives Club, told The Buffalo News that fans wanted to donate $22 as an homage to Bass.

“That’s when we kind of learned that he was receiving a little hate today from yesterday’s football game,” LaRussa said. “And we were just so saddened to hear that, because everyone at Ten Lives Club, all our supporters, when they watch the Bills game, they’re all rooting for Tyler. That’s because he loves cats, and he helped Ten Lives Club last year.”

Bass began working with the group as a result of his partnership with Show Your Soft Side, which works in tandem with professional athletes to stop animal abuse.

The Ten Lives Club also made a post on Facebook defending Bass, which spurred a flood of donations. LaRussa said the organization had raised $7,000 through Facebook alone with even more online donations not yet calculated.

“WE STAND WITH TYLER BASS. DON’T BULLY OUR FRIEND,” the group posted on Facebook on Monday. “We just heard the terrible news that Tyler Bass is receiving threats after yesterday’s game and our phones are ringing off the hook from people who want to donate $22 to Ten Lives Club in Tyler’s name.

“Tyler doesn’t deserve any of the hate he’s receiving. He’s an excellent football player and an even better person who took the time to help our organization and rescue cats last year. Leave our friend alone.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a gesture like this from the Bills Mafia. After a playoff win over the Ravens in 2021, Buffalo fans donated to the Blessings in a Backpack charity that Lamar Jackson supports.

The following year, fans donated more than $400,000 to support a Buffalo-based charity offering support to families dealing with pediatric cancer in honor of Bills tight end Dawson Knox’s late brother, Luke.

It’s never easy to make a mistake at such a critical moment in the game, but once again, Bills fans have shown compassion to one of their own.
