Here are some of the bigger names The Clemson Insider has confirmed as planned visitors for the Clemson-Georgia Tech game:

A couple of headliners among the recruits expected to be in attendance are a couple of five-star class of 2023 prospects in Merrillville (Ind.) Andrean linebacker Drayk Bowen and Pickerington (Ohio) Central safety Sonny Styles.

Styles is the No. 1 safety in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, which tab Bowen as the No. 2 linebacker in the class.

Bowen is working with a top five that includes Clemson along with Auburn, Indiana, LSU and Notre Dame.

A big-time receiver from the Lone Star State is slated to be on hand for Saturday’s game as well in Del Valle (Texas) four-star Braylon James, the No. 11 wideout and No. 75 overall prospect in the 2023 class, per the 247Sports Composite.

James has built a strong bond with Clemson receivers coach Tyler Grisham.

“Me and Coach Grisham are super close man,” James told TCI recently. “No matter where I go I know I’ll always have a backbone in him.”

Among other notable class of 2023 recruits on Clemson’s anticipated guest list for Saturday’s game are Alpharetta (Ga.) Denmark four-star linebacker Dee Crayton, Piedmont (S.C.) Wren defensive back Travon West, Alcoa (Tenn.) offensive lineman Lance Williams, Perry (Ga.) athlete Jamari Stone and Port Huron (Mich.) Northern edge defender Luke Fletcher.

Clemson 2022 offensive line commitment Collin Sadler of Greenville (S.C.) will also be in The Valley on Saturday.

Does Freeman’s youth give Notre Dame a leg up in Styles recruitment?

This could help Notre Dame in his recruitment

Notre Dame has made some very positive recruiting inroads in Ohio recently, with a 2021 signees Lorenzo Styles Jr. and Mitchell Evans and 2023 commit Brennan Vernon. The familiarity in the Styles household has really given Brian Kelly and the Irish a leg up recruiting Lorenzo’s younger brother Sonny’s recruitment.

Even though their father played for the Buckeyes, that didn’t stop Lorenzo from signing with a different Midwest power and it seems like that might be the case with Sonny as well.

In a recent interview the younger Styles broke down what may be an extremely obvious advantage that Notre Dame has over Ohio State, Marcus Freeman.

Sonny recently told (subscription required) Bill Kurelic that the two programs have “a lot of similarities. Position wise what they want me to play is pretty similar. The two defensive coordinators are kind of different. Coach Freeman is a younger guy but very successful.”

Although he didn’t discount OSU’s defensive coordinators NFL experience, Kerry Combs is certainly older than Freeman, he’s turning 60 later this fall. With Freeman just entering his mid-thirties, at 35, this could be seen as an advantage over the Buckeyes in Styles recruitment.

Will it be the determining factor? Probably not, but any advantage that the Irish can get over Ohio State is a welcome one.

Sooners offer top safety of the 2023 recruiting class

The Oklahoma Sooners have recently targeted the No. 1 safety in the 2023 recruiting cycle, five-star safety Sonny Styles.

The Oklahoma Sooners and defensive coordinator Alex Grinch recently sent out their latest offer to five-star safety Sonny Styles of Pickerington, Ohio. He is rated the No. 1 safety in the 2023 recruiting class. It isn’t hard to find Styles on the field standing in at 6’4″. He plays with a punishing style as he uses his size to his advantage.

A player that would do well in the Grinch defense as an enforcer on the back end of the defense. Going up against these offenses that like to throw it all over the field, defenses need that imposing player on the back end to try and disrupt the timing of the passing game.

Styles is a two-way player in that he also plays wide receiver. He has the ball skills necessary to create opportunities for the offense. The Sooners look to make a major push in the 2023 recruiting cycle and if they land both Styles and quarterback Malachi Nelson, that would put them off to a great start.

MSU offers 2023 S Sonny Styles, cousin of former Spartan Kurtis Drummond

Sonny Styles — a 6-foot-4 and 205-pound safety prospect in the class of 2023 — has received a scholarship offer from Michigan State.

Michigan State football is hoping to cash in on some family ties with a rising 2023 safety prospect, who already has offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame and Michigan.

Sonny Styles — a 6-foot-4 and 205-pound safety prospect in the class of 2023 — announced on Tuesday that he’s received a scholarship offer from Michigan State. Styles is a cousin of a former Spartan great — Kurtis Drummond.

Styles is yet to be ranked by 247Sports but is surely going to be a highly-touted recruit based on who already has offered him. Along with the Buckeyes, Fighting Irish and Wolverines, Styles also has an offer from Indiana.

Styles plays for Pickerington Central High School of Pickerington, Ohio. Check out highlights of Styles from this past season below:

Could another Styles be headed to Notre Dame?

The Fighting Irish coaching staff are trying to have Sonny Styles, young brother to commit Lorenzo, join him in South Bend.

The Fighting Irish already have secured a commitment from one Pickerington Central star in Lorenzo Styles Jr. and there is plenty to be excited about his pledge. There could be another Styles on the way to South Bend as Lorenzo’s younger brother, Sonny was offered by Brian Kelly and his staff on the first of the month.

After watching Lorenzo’s highlights from their season opening win, I thought they could be making a move on the younger Styles soon. That’s exactly what happened as Sonny put on a show during a nationally televised game.

The Irish joined instate powerhouse Ohio State in offering the star sophomore, and once again more flip ideas went into many peoples minds. The Buckeyes have done well keeping the best talent in state, but the Irish are one of the very few schools that can pull elite talent out of Ohio. Recently, Notre Dame has pulled offensive lineman Zeke Correll, Tommy Kraemer and Liam Eichenberg away from their home state to play for the Blue and Gold.

Rivals once again revisited Lorenzo’s potential for a flip and both of their recruiting experts Mike Farrell and Adam Gorney don’t believe the Buckeyes will be able to. They actually see Michigan as Notre Dame’s biggest threat to flip Styles Jr., but I just don’t see that happening.

Back to Sonny, who seems to be on the verge of blowing up nationally, already with two Midwestern power programs after his pledge. Having a family member as a teammate is always something players will consider and when Lorenzo ultimately signs with the Irish, a build in recruiting advantage will be made.

The recruitment of Sonny is just beginning, but already having a relationship with the Styles family, father Lorenzo played for the Buckeyes, is an advantage that Kelly must take. Lorenzo Jr. is already asking Irish Nation to show his younger brother some love. The Irish coaching staff has already done that and hopefully they will once again be reunited on the field wearing the same colors.

Ohio State offers son of former Buckeye linebacker Lorenzo Styles

Ohio State reportedly offered a scholarship to former Buckeye linebacker Lorenzo Style’s son, Sonny.

If you flipped the television on today and didn’t know ahead of time, you may have been a little surprised to see Pickerington Central and Pickerington North doing battle in Ohio high school football.

And while we may have missed out on being able to watch OSU commit Jack Sawyer on the North side because of his decision to sit out his senior year to enroll in Ohio State early, we did get to see the son of former Ohio State linebacker Lorenzo Styles have himself a game.

At 6-foot, 4-inches, and 205-pounds, Sonny Styles out of Pickerington Central blocked a punt and returned it for six and also had an interception in his team’s 35-9 win over Pickerington North. He stood out as a field roaming safety on national television.

Shortly thereafter, Styles announced on Twitter that he had received an offer from Ohio State.

It’s too early to get a gauge on where Styles is ranked because he’s in the 2021 recruiting cycle, but right now his only other offer on the table is from Indiana.

There’s a long way to go with this one, but being just a stone’s throw from the campus of Ohio State, all while having some Buckeye blood in his lineage should bode well for the Buckeyes’ chances down the road.
