Michigan State continues to trend in the right direction for an elite offensive tackle prospect in the 2023 class.

Five-star tackle Samson Okunlola has locked in an official visit to Michigan State for this upcoming weekend. Okunlola announced the upcoming visit via Twitter this past weekend.

Okunlola is ranked as the No. 31 overall prospect and No. 3 tackle in the 2023 class. He’s also the top player from Massachusetts.

The Spartans made Okunlola’s top nine schools list recently, and have continued to trend in the right direction for this elite prospect. Getting him on campus for an official visit should only help the Spartans’ case in landing Okunlola.

5-star OT Samson Okunlola names his top schools

The Georgia Bulldogs have made Samson Okunlola’s list of top schools. Okunlola is a five-star offensive tackle recruit in the class of 2023

The Georgia Bulldogs have made Samson Okunlola’s list of top schools. Okunlola is a five-star offensive tackle recruit in the class of 2023.

Samson Okunlola is a rising senior at Thayer Academy in Brockton, Massachusetts. Does he name sound familiar? Samson is brothers with Samuel Okunlola, a former three-star class of 2022 defensive end prospect, plays college football for the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Samson Okunlola is one of the elite talents along the offensive line in the class of 2023. The younger Okunlola is ranked as the No. 33 recruit in the country. The 6-foot-5, 305-pound offensive lineman is the top-ranked recruit in Massachusetts and the third-ranked offensive tackle in the country.

The five-star offensive tackle considers Georgia, Alabama, Michigan State, Florida, Penn State, Miami, Oregon, Oklahoma, and Ohio State to be his top schools. Somewhat surprisingly, Okunlola does not rank Pittsburgh among his top nine.

Samson Okunlola has over 45 scholarship offers. He has excellent flexibility and bend and also wrestles at a high level.

Okunlola has an official visit with Michigan State scheduled June 10-12. The five-star offensive lineman also visited Oregon on May 22.

Multiple Sooners targets figure into 247Sports’ latest five-star update

Several Oklahoma Sooners targets saw some movement or earned their fifth star as 247Sports integrated On3’s recruiting rankings.

With the bulk of summer still ahead of us, tomorrow’s stars have plenty of time and leeway to improve and move up in the recruiting world’s rankings. In the case of the Oklahoma Sooners, multiple targets they have honed in on for their 2023 class saw some reshuffling as they became five stars for the first time or moved up and down amongst the other five stars around them.

247Sports took the opportunity to update their five stars in theĀ new-and-improved 247Sports Composite rankings that now include rankings from On3 recruitingĀ in addition to those from 247Sports,Ā RivalsĀ and ESPN.

David Hicks is the first notable Sooner target to pop up and he comes in at number five. The massive and insanely talented defensive lineman is a certified five-star across every major service and he is a high priority for Todd Bates and the Oklahoma staff. A&M looks like an early leader but Oklahoma is right on their heels and this fall’s results could very well be the leader.

Another Texas high school star, Anthony Hill also is a 247 Sports composite five-star in the latest update as well. The No. 16 ranked Hill just finished a weekend in Norman for his official visit. The Sooners are once again fighting the Aggies for another defender but are very much still in the race at this present time.

Behind Hill at No. 21 sits another highly-rated defender in Peter Woods out of Alabama. Todd Bates has been at the forefront of this recruitment since taking over at Oklahoma and is building on his relationship with Woods that he started while still working for the Clemson Tigers. Woods is already planning officials to Clemson and the Sooners would be wise to see if they can land one as well. Woods’ calling card is his versatility as he can play inside and out.

No.22 goes to running back Richard Young who the Sooners also hosted for an official visit this weekend. Young is the first Sooners offensive target to make this list and while his recruitment favors UGA and Alabama, an official visit plus his relationship with running backs coach DeMarco Murray still gives the Sooners a puncher’s chance.

The last major Sooners target of note is the last five-star in the new rankings. Samson Okunlola, a tackle out of Massachusetts comes in at No. 33. The massive six-foot-five, 305-pounder, with a seven-foot wingspan has the Sooners in his top 9. Bill Bedenbaugh’s reputation precedes him and while the Sooners offered a little late they have a shot to make up some ground and possibly sneak into the top five.

While it’s entirely possible the Sooners don’t end up with all of these prospects, there’s a real chance that at least one or two are very serious possibilities for Oklahoma. There’s a long time between now and signing day but it’s encouraging to see the Sooners still in the mix for quite a few five-star prospects considering the turnover that unfolded last winter. Oklahoma still being in the mix is a testament to the new coaching staff and their recruiting prowess.

5-Star 2023 OT Samson Okunlola includes Alabama in loaded top-9

A small win for the Crimson Tide on the recruiting trail when 5-Star 2023 OT included Alabama in his top-9!

Alabama Football’s dominance on the field begins on the recruiting trail. Nick Saban’s efforts to bring in some of the nation’s top prospects begins years before players get to the collegiate level.

Recently, Alabama earned a minor win that could eventually become significant.

Five-star offensive tackle, Samson Okunlola, out of Massachusetts narrowed down his list of prospects landing spots to nine. The Crimson Tide made the list.

Currently, there’s no indication that Okunlola is leaning toward one specific program.

Five-star offensive lineman puts Ohio State in trimmed list

Adding a five-star tackle would be huge for the 2023 Buckeye recruiting class.

Ohio State is continuing to work on adding to the No. 4 ranked class in the country. As June rolls into full swing, the Buckeyes will be hosting some big-time recruits with hopes of gaining more verbal pledges to join the quest to bring a championship to Columbus.

One big name OSU already has a commitment from is Luke Montgomery who is the No. 4 rated tackle in the 2023 class. But the Bucks want more and need more at the tackle position. On Thursday Ryan Day got some good news that five-star prospect Samson Okunlola has put Ohio State on the shortlist.

Here’s what Okunlola had to say about the Buckeyes:

“I like the o-line coach (Justin Frye). He is more on the younger side of o-line coaches but he’s still a great dude. Right now they have a pretty good o-line. They may have room to start at the left tackle, but you have to work for it.”

Joining Ohio State as finalists are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Penn State.

Penn State among top schools for five-star offensive tackle

Where does Penn State fall in this massive five-star offensive lineman’s top nine?

Penn State has placed a heavy emphasis on the offensive line in the Class of 2023 recruiting cycle, and the efforts continue to be paying off in the pursuit of a five-star offensive tackle. [autotag]Samson Okunlola[/autotag], from Massachusetts, updated his recruiting progress with a list of his top nine schools. Among the top nine schools still in the running was Penn State.

Penn State is up against some stiff competition as the recruiting focus begins to narrow. The other eight schools listed among Okunola’s top schools are Oregon, Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Ohio State, Miami, and Michigan State. There is no timeline for an expected decision date for Okunola, and he has yet to confirm any official visits on his schedule.

According to On3, Okunola seems to be expecting to make official visits to Alabama, Miami, and Michigan State. It is worth noting that Okunola has been on Penn State’s campus before. Okunola attended Penn State’s junior day in January and Penn State was among the first handful of offers to be extended to him back in December 2020.

Okunola would be a massive addition to an already loaded offensive line haul in the Class of 2023 for Penn State. Okunola measures 6′-5″ and 305 lb going into his senior year of high school at Thayer Academy in Brockton, Massachusetts. He is rated as a four-star recruit by 247Sports but is bumped up to five stars in the composite rankings. The last update to the On3 prediction machine listed Penn State with the second-best shot to secure a commitment from Okunola, although the favorite was Rutgers, which was not listed among Okunola’s top nine.

Perhaps of some interest to note, the primary recruiter of Okunola for Alabama is reported to be former Penn State head coach [autotag]Bill O’Brien[/autotag], now the offensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide.

Spartans listed in top 9 for 2023 5-star OT Samson Okunlola

Michigan State football is still in the race for one of the top offensive tackle prospects in the 2023 class

Michigan State football is still in the race for one of the top offensive tackle prospects in the 2023 class.

Samson Okunlola of Brockton, Mass. released his top nine schools list, which the Spartans were lucky enough to make. Michigan State was joined by Oregon, Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Penn State, Ohio State and Miami (FL).

Okunlola is a five-star prospect on 247Sports, and ranked as the No. 3 offensive tackle in the class. He’s also listed as the No. 31 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Okunlola holds offers from nearly 50 different programs, including some of the biggest schools in the game. So it’s great to see Michigan State crack his top nine schools list. The next step would be to remain in the hunt when he trims that list even more.

Top Illinois offensive lineman includes Notre Dame in official visit schedule

Come east young man

The Irish are looking for more than just one other offensive lineman to join current 2023 commits Sullivan Absher and Sam Pendleton. Fresh off the news that Notre Dame is a legit candidate for Massachusetts five-star tackle Samson Okunlola, there is another development along the lines.

In a report from 247Sports Steve Wiltfong, Illinois offensive tackle Charles Jagusah has set four of his five official visit dates. Along with a trip to South Bend, the six-foot-six-inch and 310-pound tackle will visit Missouri, Arkansas and Michigan with a fifth still up in the air.

It wasnā€™t just finding out about the visit that was good news for Marcus Freeman, also the breakdown from Jagusah on why heā€™s still considering the Irish. ā€œNotre Dame is close. Also a great team with a great tradition. Top-notch offensive line coach and heā€™s developed a very close relationship with Harry (Hiestand),ā€ is what his mother, Sheila Doak, told Wiltfong.

At the current moment, the Irish are Jagusahā€™s last scheduled visit, but with one remaining that could change.
