Four-star LB target Raul Aguirre moves up commitment date

Four-star linebacker Raul Aguirre will make his commitment on Tuesday, July 12.

June was a month filled with visits and it looks like July will be a month loaded with commitments. One such player that is taking that approach is four-star linebacker, [autotag]Raul Aguirre[/autotag].

Aguirre took to Twitter late Saturday night to inform everyone that he would be moving his commitment date up to Tuesday, July 12.

The Fayetteville, Georgia native took his official visit to Tuscaloosa on June 10 but was also on an unofficial visit with [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Tide in April.

Currently, Aguirre does not have any crystal balls on 247Sports, but according to On3’s RPM, Alabama has the best chance at landing Aguirre’s commitment at 52.6%. But [autotag]Mario Cristobal[/autotag] and the Miami Hurricanes are in a close second at 38.1%.

At this point, it looks like a two-team race for the talented linebacker. You could make the argument that Cristobal and Miami are as hot as anyone on the recruiting trail at the moment, but it is also wise to never count out Saban and the Tide.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to monitor Aguirre’s recruiting process and update you as quickly as possible.

This 4-star linebacker placed Florida in his top 6 schools

Florida is definitely feeling the love on the football recruiting front so far this month as another prospect includes the Gators among his top schools.

Monday morning, four-star linebacker [autotag]Raul Aguirre[/autotag] released a list of the six finalists in his recruitment. Florida was included among them, alongside Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, ArkansasĀ and Miami. He has been on campus in Gainesville on two occasions since being offered in March, with his official visit coming in early June.

Interacting in person with the Gators’ linebacking staff and personnel made a big difference for Aguirre. He told 247Sports that the team wasn’t in his top five schools prior to his official visit, but that changed after his time with the folks on Florida’s defensive squad. He called out [autotag]Ventrell Miller[/autotag] as being the highlight after the veteran took time to be one of Aguirre’s on-campus hosts.

Scouting reports on Aguirre indicate that he’s a well-rounded prospect; carrying hard-hitting physicality on his 6-foot-2-inch, 220-pound frame without sacrificing the ability to contribute in coverage as well. He seems to be a good candidate for reps early in his career.

It’s not going to be easy for Florida to beat out their competitors and seal the deal with the young linebacker. He’s a native of Miami according to his Twitter bio, which may give a boost to the ‘Canes who are already enjoying some momentum under Mario Cristobal’s watch. Georgia is a tempting offer for any defensive prospect after seeing what they were able to do last season. And Alabama’s brand is unassailable, a fact that they’ve leveraged with many a recruit in the past.

A look at recruits Florida football is hosting first weekend of June

Here are the eight prep prospects making their way to the Swamp this weekend.

Florida football will host a group of eight 2023 recruits this weekend starting on Friday, June 3, as [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] and his staff prepares to impress some of the best that the high school ranks have to offer. The Gators have seven blue-chip prospects heading to Gainesville ā€” all four-star rated by both the 247Sports Composite and the On3 Consensus ā€” plus a three-star commit who is also making the trip.

Additionally, in line with the new policy of focusing on recruits from within the state’s borders, six of the visitors hail from the Sunshine State while the other two are not much further away in Georgia and Alabama. There will be plenty more visits in the coming weekends this month and the Gators are looking to get off to a strong start with this first batch of preps.

Below is a look at all eight prospects heading to the Swamp from June 3 to 5 along with their respective rankings, a brief blurb on their recruitment, as well as a look at our previous coverage here at Gators Wire.

This 4-star linebacker had a ‘fantastic’ first trip to The Swamp

Four-star linebacker Raul Aguirre said his first trip to UF was fantastic and hopes to return in the future.

Four-star linebacker [autotag]Raul Aguirre[/autotag] didn’t know much about Florida football when he picked up an offer from the Gators earlier in spring, but a Tuesday visit to The Swamp has given the Fayetteville, Georgia, recruit some insight into what [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag]’s program is all about.

He spoke with 247Sports following the visit and gave Napier and Co. a rave review with a return trip in mind.

“I would say the visit was fantastic,” Aguirre said of the visit. “All across the board, the coaches showed a lot of love. The players showed a lot of love, and the facilities were really good. I am definitely going to get back up there sometime soon.”

That visit could wind up being one of Aguirre’s five officials, but the 6-foot-2-inch, 220-pounder says Ohio State is the only team locked into one right now. Florida’s new training facility is set to open up over the summer and could be what draws him back. Aguirre left Gainesville impressed with the old facilities and knows that the new ones will be even better.

Until then, UF’s recruiting and coaching staff will continue to keep in contact with him. Defensive analyst [autotag]Jamar Chaney[/autotag] is his main point of contact on the staff and who he spent the most time around during his visit. Inside linebackers coach [autotag]Jay Bateman[/autotag] also spent time with Aguirre and pushed the idea that they wanted him in the linebacker room next year.

Aguirre will be at Miami over the weekend for an unofficial visit and then his schedule is clear for the rest of the spring. He’ll look to put together a top-10 or top-8 list after that and then will need to figure out which of those programs are receiving official visits.

The 247Sports composite ranks Aguirre No. 123 overall in the class of 2023 and is No. 9 among linebackers.

This 4-star linebacker stopping by Florida next Tuesday

Florida is hosting four-star linebacker Raul Aguirre on Tuesday along with a handful of other recruits.

Recruiting is expected to slow down now that the Orange and Blue game has passed, signaling the end of spring football for Florida this year.

But it’s always recruiting season for head coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] and staff, and they are still hosting prospects until the next NCAA dead period takes place. One prospect visiting the Gators on Tuesday is four-star linebacker [autotag]Raul Aguirre[/autotag], according to Gators Online.

The Fayetteville, Georgia, native is ranked as the 123rd overall prospect and as the ninth-best player at his position, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Florida originally presented a scholarship offer to Aguirre on March 28. This will be his first time ever visiting the Swamp.

He has already established a strong relationship with Napier and his coaching staff but Aguirre also has a connection to a player on the Gators roster: [autotag]Chief Borders[/autotag]. He said Borders and his father have told him about how much they have enjoyed the coaching change so far.

For Aguirre, Napier and inside linebackers coach [autotag]Jay Bateman[/autotag] have been the main points of contact from Florida.

This spring he has taken visits to Alabama, Ohio State and Nebraska. Aguirre also holds offers from Georgia, Miami, Oregon, Texas, South Carolina, Auburn and Penn State as well as others.

He said he isn’t sure where Florida fits into his recruitment until he makes it down to the Swamp for a visit. Aguirre will obviously find out on Tuesday.

Michigan State is looking to beat out some of the biggest schools in the south to land a big-time 2023 talent in linebacker Raul Aguirre.

Aguirre announced on Monday that he has received a scholarship offer from the Spartans. Aguirre — who hails from Fayetteville, Ga. — is ranked as the No. 8 linebacker in the 2023 class.

Aguirre now holds scholarship offers from Michigan State, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, Miami (FL), Oklahoma State, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, and West Virginia.

Michigan State was the first program to offer Aguirre since September so hopefully, this new attention from the Spartans will boost their chances at getting a commitment.
