Florida QB earns fifth star in latest On3 Industry Ranking update

Florida’s top commit in the 2024 recruiting class, quarterback DJ Lagway, is now a five-star prospect on the On3 industry ranking.

Florida quarterback commit [autotag]DJ Lagway[/autotag] is widely regarded as one of the top recruits in the class of 2024, but now he’s gained five-star status on the On3 industry ranking after a recent update to the On300 rankings.

The On3 industry ranking uses a weighted algorithm to determine its composite score, using all four major recruiting services. 247Sports and On3 each have a 35% share of the equation, Rivals.com makes up 20 percent and ESPN contributes the final 10%.

He is ranked No. 23 overall on the On3 industry ranking and No. 3 among quarterbacks in the class of 2024.

ESPN is the highest on Lagway, ranking him at No. 14 overall and No. 2 among quarterbacks in the class. The updated On300 now has Lagway at No. 20 overall and No. 3 among 2024 signal callers. 247Sports isn’t quite as high on him at No. 42 nationally and No. 6 positionally. Rivals.com is in a similar spot, placing him at No. 45 overall and as the top dual-threat quarterback in the class (Rivals differentiates between dual-threat and pro style).

Lagway has been a vocal leader of his recruiting class and is looking to bring the top talent in the country to the Swamp. Florida is currently fourth in On3’s 2024 team recruiting rankings.

Where Wisconsin’s promising 2024 class stands in national recruiting rankings

Where do the Badgers stack up in the early stages of the 2024 cycle?

The new-look Wisconsin Badgers have hit the ground running on the recruiting front: They have landed a trio of commits in 2024.

The class is headlined by four-star quarterback Mabrey Mettauer, who was one of Luke Fickell’s first big wins on the job.

Mettauer is joined by a pair of tight ends as Wisconsin is in the early stages of building its 2024 group.

Where does Wisconsin’s three-person class stand according to 247Sports and who leads the way at this early stage? The Badgers landed in the top 25.

Here are the 2024 recruiting rankings at this point according to 247Sports’ composite:

An early look at 2024 recruiting rankings: Luke Fickell’s first full recruiting cycle

There is a long way to go in the class of 2024 recruitment process, but the Badgers have already made a few splashes.

The biggest get of the Luke Fickell 2024 class so far was four-star quarterback Mabrey Mettauer. The four-star prospect currently stars at The Woodlands High School in Texas.

Per his Twitter commitment post, he is looking forward to playing in the Air Raid offense with new offensive coordinator Phil Longo and staff.

Mettauer is one of three commits in this early stage of the 2024 class. He is the lone four-star commit so far for the Badgers in Fickell’s first full recruiting cycle at Wisconsin.

How do the Badgers stack up against the rest of the nation. Here is a look at the top 25 2024 recruiting classes per On3:

Where does LSU’s 2023 recruiting class stand in the final 247Sports Composite Rankings?

The Tigers sit just outside the top five in the final rankings.

Signing day is done and dusted, and LSU’s 2023 recruiting class is officially in the books.

It was a bit anti-climactic for the Tigers — as is the case at many programs since the proliferation of the early signing period. LSU signed 25 high school players back in December while also adding 11 transfers already this offseason, and the program has largely turned its attention to 2024 since then.

It was a great bump class for coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag]. It didn’t quite crack the top five, but it featured a pair of five-stars in offensive tackle [autotag]Zalance Heard[/autotag] — a top 15 overall player — and edge rusher [autotag]DaShawn Womack[/autotag]. LSU also added two top-100 receivers in [autotag]Jalen Brown[/autotag] and [autotag]Shelton Sampson Jr.[/autotag] and a stable of blue-chip players in the secondary.

Here’s where LSU’s promising haul stacks up against the rest of the country, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Meet Notre Dame’s Now Complete 2023 Recruiting Class

Meet Notre Dame’s 26 current commitments in what is a top-five class nationally.

After a whirlwind couple of years the 2023 recruiting class has officially been completed at Notre Dame.  What started out tremendously hit a few snags along the way.  It closed with one of the strangest signing day stories you’ll ever see when Peyton Bowen bailed on Notre Dame for Oregon, only to change his mind and bail on Oregon for Oklahoma just a day later.

In all, Notre Dame wound up with 24 signed commitments after the second signing period in February.  It didn’t finish in the top couple of spots nationally like we had hoped after it’s tremendous start but will continue to add to the overall talent for Notre Dame.

Here are the 24 newest members of the Notre Dame football team:

Where LSU’s recruiting class stands in the 247Sports Composite Rankings after the early signing period

The Tigers are just outside the top five nationally following the early signing period.

The three-day early signing period is officially in the books as LSU turns its attention to a Citrus Bowl contest against Purdue on Jan. 2 and welcoming its early enrollees to campus.

Early signing day was a bit anti-climactic for Tigers fans. Coach Brian Kelly’s staff lost out on the sweepstakes for [autotag]Desmond Ricks[/autotag], a five-star IMG Academy cornerback who picked Alabama. It also failed to land uncommitted four-star Mississippi defensive back [autotag]Isaac Smith[/autotag], who pledged to Mississippi State, and it lost one commit in cornerback [autotag]Daylen Austin[/autotag], who flipped to Oregon.

However, it wasn’t all bad. LSU pulled a flip of their own, bringing in Vanderbilt tight end commit [autotag]Ka’Morreun Pimpton[/autotag], and it signed all 25 of its commits, excluding Austin.

The Tigers aren’t necessarily done yet as the normal signing period opens in February. They will have at least one target committing then in five-star athlete [autotag]Nyckoles Harbor[/autotag].

But the Tigers are mostly done in 2023, and we have a good idea of what this class is going to look like when it’s all said and done. Here’s where it ranks in the 247Sports Composite Rankings after the early signing period.

Where LSU’s 2023 recruiting class currently stands in the On3 Consensus rankings

The Tigers are looking for a strong finish, but they already have one of the top classes in 2023.

The Tigers had a successful Year 1 season on the field, but arguably the most impressive returns from the first season of the [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] era have come off it.

Kelly has done an incredible job on the recruiting trail in the 2023 cycle, and the result has been one of the top high school classes in the country. LSU currently has one five-star prospect committed (per the On3 Consensus Rankings) and a number of highly rated four stars.

LSU recently added another elite prospect in safety [autotag]Javien Toviano[/autotag], a top-75 prospect from Texas who committed on Thursday.

At times, this has been a top-five class — depending on the recruiting service you’re checking — but after a wild week on the recruiting trail for several other programs, LSU currently sits at just No. 7 in the On3 Consensus.

The Tigers’ success on the recruiting trail starts on their home turf. LSU has commitments from some of the top players in the Pelican State including Heard, four-star wide receiver Shelton Sampson Jr., four-star running back Kaleb Jackson and four-star safety Kylin Jackson. Of the top 16 players in Louisiana, eight of them are committed to the Tigers. Brian Kelly has also made a mark out-of-state. On Dec. 15, he landed a commitment from four-star safety Javien Toviano, the No. 54 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus and a Texas native.

LSU already has a big class at 25 and will likely look to add several transfers, but there’s still room to grow. Kelly said he wanted to bring in 30+ players this offseason between recruiting and the transfer portal.

The recruiting class could surge in the rankings once more if the Tigers can land consensus five-star cornerback [autotag]Desmond Ricks[/autotag], who is considered an LSU lean and spent his final official visit weekend in Baton Rouge.

Two 2023 LSU commits pick up fifth star from 247Sports

Zalance Heard and Dashawn Womack are now among the top group of prospects in the 2023 class.

A couple of LSU commits got rankings bumps this week and now reside in the elite tier.

Defensive lineman [autotag]Dashawn Womack[/autotag] and offensive tackle [autotag]Zalance Heard[/autotag] both picked up their fifth star on 247Sports. Heard is now also a five-star in the 247Sports Composite and the On3 Consensus rankings.

Womack now has five stars from 247 and On3, but due to his lower rankings from Rivals and ESPN, he is yet to grab the fifth star on either of the composite or consensus rankings.

I wouldn’t rule out Womack eventually entering the consensus five-star group. While he’s always been a top-300 prospect, his rise into the elite didn’t come until this past summer and fall.

ESPN and Rivals might still be catching up, and slight bumps in their rankings could be enough to boost Womack. LSU now has three recruits that have a five-star from one place or another.

[autotag]Shelton Sampson Jr.[/autotag] has five stars on On3 but just four stars from the other services. As a whole, LSU’s class ranks fifth according to On3 and seventh per 247.

Where each Notre Dame ‘23 commit landed on 247Sports updated Top 247

This list is long and impressive for the Irish

The Irish have amassed one of the top recruiting classes for the 2023 cycle, it has been an impressive group in the little time that Marcus Freeman has been leading the program. Yes, the news on this front has not been the best in the recent weeks, but the work has still been put in and the results are fantastic.

Since 247Sports has now analyzed the play from the past high school season, they made one of their final class updated and released their latest Top 247 recruits. Plenty of future Irish stars made their list and you can find out below which ones did and where they ended up.
