Giants sign QB Jacob Eason, RB Hassan Hall to practice squad

The New York Giants have signed QB Jacob Eason and RB Hassan Hall to their practice squad.

The New York Giants held their weekly workouts on Tuesday in East Rutherford and once they concluded, two players were added to the practice squad.

Quarterback Jacob Eason and running back Hassan Hall were those awarded with new contracts.

The 25-year-old Eason was originally a fourth-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts in the 2020 NFL draft. He’s also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and Carolina Panthers.

In two career games, Eason has completed five of his 10 pass attempts for 84 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions.

The 23-year-old Hall signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Georgia Tech back in April. He was released as a part of final cuts in late August and was re-signed to their practice squad.

The Browns released Hall from their practice squad in late September and he signed with the Arizona Cardinals a few days later but spent only a week in the desert.

Hall has never taken a snap during the regular season.

Dolphins work out 7 players on Tuesday

Miami worked out 7 before signing 1.

After the Miami Dolphins officially lost running back Darrynton Evans from their practice squad on Monday, they had an open spot that they needed to fill.

With that knowledge, the Dolphins held workouts on Tuesday that included seven players before they signed running back Jake Funk to their practice squad.

While they’ve already made the signing, it may be worth it to get familiar with those who Miami opted not to sign on Tuesday.

Titans hosted five players for workouts on Tuesday

The Titans worked out a total of five players on Tuesday, including their former RB Jonathan Ward.

The Tennessee Titans spent their non-practice day bringing in a handful of players for workouts, one of which was a familiar face.

According to the league’s transactions wire, the Titans worked out one of their former players in running back Jonathan Ward, which was first reported on Monday by Justin Melo of The Draft Network.

Ward was with the team in 2022, appearing in three games and totaling five carries for 25 yards while playing mostly on special teams.

Tennessee brought Ward back this offseason and he looked to have a good shot to make the initial 53-man roster as the team’s third back before suffering an injury in preseason Week 1.

The Titans are in the market for a running back with the team only having two on the active roster (Derrick Henry and Tyjae Spears) and one on the practice squad (Jacques Patrick).

Ward was just one of five players the Titans took a look at on Tuesday. Here’s the rest.

Browns add Devin Asiasi among 4 practice squad roster moves

The Browns make a handful of practice squad moves…

The Cleveland Browns enter Week 4 with the chance to see their record soar to the heights of 3-1 if they can take down the Baltimore Ravens. The success they have seen, however, will not stop them from continuing to churn the bottom of their roster and the practice squad every week. To that point, the Browns had six players in for a workout at the end of last week, including former third round tight end Devin Asiasi.

And now, as we sit five days from their game against the Ravens, the Browns have made two signings to their practice squad, resulting in two players getting the axe from their reserve unit as well. We saw this all of last year as well, as the Browns frequently tinkered with their practice squad as the season ticked along.

Here are the four moves the Browns made to their practice squad as a monstrous Ravens week gets underway in Cleveland.

3 positional battles to watch as we wait for training camp

The first team is all but filled out, but what position battles are worth monitoring?

We are still about a month out from the Cleveland Browns returning to Berea for training camp. And for the most part, it should be a rather uninteresting one in terms of positional battles at key positions in 2023 after general manager Andrew Berry remained aggressive this offseason to add talent at needed spots on the depth chart.

However, there are a few depth positions that could provide a bit of intrigue when camp arrives to keep an eye on. Here are three battles worth monitoring when the Browns get back in the building later next month.

Browns: 4 undrafted free agents with the best chance to make the 53-man roster

Which UDFAs have the best chance to make the roster?

From wide receiver Cedric Tillman to center Luke Wypler, the Cleveland Browns utilized their seven picks in the 2023 NFL draft to add depth and future contributors to their roster. They then added even more rookies to their roster, signing a couple of handfuls of undrafted free agents to their roster. While linebacker Mohamoud Diabate headlines this group, there is more than one player with a shot to make the final 53-man roster by the time training camp concludes.

Who has the best bet to see themselves on the active roster when Week 1 rolls around? Here are four undrafted free agents at positions of need who fit the bill.
