2024 4-star safety Peyton Woodyard puts Oregon Ducks in top 7, sets commitment date.
The Oregon Ducks look to be in a good position to add to their already impressive 2024 recruiting class.
Over the weekend, 4-star safety Peyton Woodyard, the No. 2 safety and No. 29 overall rated player in the 2024 class, announced his top 7 schools, listing Oregon among them.
Woodyard is a player at St. John Bosco in California, one of the premier schools in the nation. Woodyard set a commitment date for the 7the of January, where he will announce where he’s going at the All-American game.
So far, Oregon has three commitments in the 2024 class; 4-star TE A.J. Pugliano, 4-star OT Fox Crader, and 4-star WR Tyseer Denmark.
The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top schools for one of the top safety recruits in the class of 2024
The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top schools for class of 2024 safety recruit Peyton Woodyard.
Georgia football is already off to a solid start with junior recruits. Kirby Smart and company have commitments from six players in the class of 2024. Georgia has the third-ranked class of 2024 in the country.
Peyton Woodyard plays high school football for St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California. St. John Bosco just beat Mater Dei High School to win a division title.
Woodyard is ranked as a four-star recruit. The talented safety is the No. 2 player at his position and the No. 29 overall prospect in the class of 2024. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound defensive back is the second-ranked recruit in California.
Georgia football has had a lot of recruiting success in California recently. The Dawgs signed recently signed elite recruits in Brock Bowers and Kendall Milton.
Peyton Woodyard’s top seven schools are Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Michigan, USC, Florida, and Notre Dame. The four-star safety plans to focus on these schools throughout the rest of his recruitment.
For many, it has seemed like the missing piece for the Irish program has been at quarterback. It’s not just having one on your roster that can carry a team, it’s also about having depth and incoming prospects that can be passed the torch.
The current Notre Dame group is solid, but unproven, loaded with talent but still rough around the edges. That’s not a knock on [autotag]Tyler Buchner[/autotag], [autotag]Drew Pyne[/autotag] or [autotag]Steve Angeli[/autotag], it’s just a fact. [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] is trying to change the influx of quarterback talent, going after some high level prospects.
An event like ‘The QB Retreat’ hosted by well respected quarterback coach Steve Clarkson brings plenty of talented players to the event. Fortunately for us, Greg Biggins of 247Sports was on-hand and shared updates on multiple prospects that are considering Notre Dame.

One of the best players in the entire 2024 class will be taking a visit to Eugene this coming month.
One of the very best players in the entire 2024 class has scheduled a visit to Eugene to come to see Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks next month.
5-star safety Peyton Woodyard, a 6-foot-2, 188-pounder from St. John Bosco in California, will reportedly make a trip to Eugene for a weekend in early April. Woodyard is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 1 safety in the 2024 class, and the No. 8 player overall.
Woodyard is one of the most coveted players in the 2024 class despite not even starting his junior season yet. He already has visits taken to USC, Texas, Texas A&M, and LSU. He will be joined by St. John Bosco teammate Ty Lee in Eugene.
While the Sooners finalize their ’22 recruiting class, they’ve ventured out west to offer 3 top-100 players from St. John Bosco in California.
The Oklahoma Sooners are putting the finishing touches on their 2022 recruiting class. And while they look to close out the cycle with a bang, the Sooners are looking ahead to 2023 and 2024 as well. They got a commitment from the top quarterback in the state of Texas on Monday in Jackson Arnold.
Brent Venables and his coaching staff have been on the road looking to open up new recruiting grounds in Texas and California.
On Tuesday, Venables and his staff were in California visiting St. John Bosco and they made several offers while they were there.
The Sooners offered safety Peyton Woodyard, cornerback Marcelles Williams, and linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa. Each player is considered a four-star defender early in the 2024 cycle by 247Sports for St. John Bosco.
Woodyard is currently the No. 20 player in the 2024 class and the No. 2 safety prospect. Williams is considered the No. 70 player and No. 8 cornerback in the class. Viliamu-Asa is ranked No. 10 in the country, is the No. 2 linebacker in the country, and is 247Sports No. 1 player in the state of California.
Each of these prospects is a top 100 player in the class and ranks within the top 10 in the state of California.
Brent Venables’ presence with the Oklahoma Sooners has given them inroads into Florida recruiting from his time at Clemson. He’s also been successful in recruiting in Texas in his short time in Norman. Now he’s making his way out west to keep Oklahoma’s footprint in the state of California strong as well.
With his defensive chops and the eventual move to the SEC, Venables has a strong hand to play as he ventures into Pac-12 country.

Among a contingent of prospects from a familiar California powerhouse that attended Louisville’s game against Clemson last Saturday at Cardinal Stadium was Peyton Woodyard, who is on the Tigers’ recruiting radar for the class of 2024.
The Clemson Insider caught up with Woodyard, a four-star safety from St. Bohn Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), to get his thoughts on Clemson’s 30-24 win and more.
“What a game!” Woodyard said. “There were a lot of us Bosco football players that went to the Louisville vs. Clemson game. I thought both teams played hard and deserved to win. Clemson’s defense was ultimately able to hold Louisville out of the end zone at the end. Great pursuit of a great quarterback.”
Along with seeing Clemson’s defense save the win thanks to its late goal-line stand against Malik Cunningham and the Cardinals, Woodyard enjoyed watching two St. John Bosco products – D.J. Uiagalelei and Beaux Collins – hook up for a 46-yard touchdown throw and catch in the first quarter for the Tigers.
“It was also great to see that D.J. to Beaux connection again,” Woodyard said. “Those two are my big bros, we’re all part of the Bosco brotherhood. We also train together at STARS.”
Woodyard had a chance to speak with Uiagalelei a little bit on Saturday morning and was impressed by the way he battled through a knee injury to help the Tigers to a victory that night.
“I got to see and talk to D.J. briefly at the hotel,” Woodyard said. “We just said hello in passing, and he played great given that he was injured. D.J. has always been a great leader and player, so I am not surprised on how he played.”
Woodyard (6-2, 191) has already racked up more than 20 offers, including one from Louisville and others from schools like Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Michigan, Southern Cal, Arizona State, Florida State and Penn State.
Clemson doesn’t offer sophomores such as Woodyard, though he’s holding out for a coveted offer from the Tigers and had this to say about them last month:
“I haven’t heard anything from them, but I know they’re looking,” he told TCI. “Coach (Brent) Venables follows me on Twitter. I haven’t been able to talk to him ever since I’ve been up there, since this past summer. I definitely want to get back up there after this season and go on a visit.”
Woodyard visited Clemson for the Dabo Swinney Camp in June and is already planning a return trip to Tiger Town next year.
“I plan on getting over in the spring with my family,” he said.
Along with Louisville, Woodyard has attended a game at Notre Dame this season, as well as a few games at Southern Cal. Besides Clemson, he’s looking to get back to Ohio State, Alabama and Georgia, and also wants to check out Boston College, Oklahoma and LSU moving forward.
Woodyard is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 4 prospect in California, No. 2 safety nationally and No. 20 overall prospect for the 2024 class.

A Clemson target in the 2024 class will be at Saturday night’s game in Louisville.
He’ll be in attendance with a large contingent of his high school teammates from St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) – the same school that produced Clemson sophomore quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei, as well as freshman wide receiver Beaux Collins.
Four-star safety Peyton Woodyard, who owns an offer from Louisville, made his way down to Kentucky for Saturday’s marquee conference matchup at Cardinal Stadium.
Woodyard reported an offer from Lousiville back on Sunday, Oct. 31. He has already racked up upwards of 20 offers, including those from schools such as Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Michigan, Southern Cal, Arizona State, Florida State and Penn State.
He’s still holding out for that coveted Clemson offer and had this to say about the Tigers last month:
“I haven’t heard anything from them, but I know they’re looking,” Woodyard told The Clemson Insider recently. “Coach Venables follows me on Twitter. I haven’t been able to talk to him ever since I’ve been up there, since this past summer. I definitely want to get back up there after this season and go on a visit.”
He’s ranked by 247Sports as the No. 2 safety and No. 20 overall prospect in the 2024 class regardless of position.
Tons of talent was on hand this weekend in South Bend
