4-star CB Justyn Rhett signs with Georgia

Justyn Rhett is a Dawg.

Back in December 2021, four-star cornerback Justyn Rhett committed to Notre Dame, choosing the Fighting Irish over Georgia, Michigan, Texas A&M and Florida State.

In April of this year, Rhett attended the UGA spring game. He decommitted from Notre Dame the same day. Nine days later he announced his commitment to Georgia.

On Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period, Rhett signed his national letter of intent to play for the University of Georgia.

Rhett ranks as the nation’s No. 270 overall player and No. 30 ranked cornerback. He hails from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pac-12 team working to flip Notre Dame running back commit

Will Notre Dame hold on?

As Notre Dame looks to put the finishing touches on their 2023 recruiting class with the early signing period just a week away, a significant amount of effort remains in keeping the committed players from flipping.  We’ve seen commits pull off their pledges as five-star [autotag]Keon Keeley[/autotag] recently chose Alabama after originally being a Notre Dame commitment.  The Irish have also seen former cornerback pledge [autotag]Justyn Rhett[/autotag] change his mind and choose Georgia as well as running back [autotag]Dylan Edwards[/autotag] who recently flipped to Deion Sanders and Colorado.

Now Notre Dame looks to keep Oregon from flipping running back [autotag]Jayden Limar[/autotag].  Limar committed to Notre Dame while having Michigan, Oregon, and Arizona listed as his other finalists back in May.  Despite the commitment, Oregon spent time visiting in-person with Limar earlier this week according to multiple reports.

Limar is rated as a four-star talent out of Lake Stevens, Wash.  Following the recent flip from Edwards, only Limar and four-star [autotag]Jeremiyah Love[/autotag] remain as running back commitments so the need to keep Limar is obvious.

The proximity to home here obviously raises concern if you’re Notre Dame, as does the fact Oregon landed a commitment from quarterback [autotag]Dante Moore[/autotag] despite the Irish being the perceived runaway favorite for him earlier this year.

I’d be lying if I said I had any idea what Limar or pretty much any commitment/target is going to do at this point.  NIL has changed things forever and you never know where that bag of legal money may suddenly show up from to change a teenagers mind at the last minute.

Stay tuned…

Ohio State is trying to flip 2023 Notre Dame commit after scholarship offer

Not great

There is blood in the water and there is a feeling that plenty of schools will be looking to flip current Notre Dame commits. There have already been four decommits for the 2023 cycle for the Irish ([autotag]Keon Keeley[/autotag], [autotag]Justyn Rhett[/autotag], [autotag]Elijah Paige[/autotag] and [autotag]Sedrick Irvin Jr.[/autotag]) and there is potential for more.

There are rumors that multiple teams are looking to flip the current highest rated Irish commit, safety [autotag]Peyton Bowen[/autotag]. Now it looks like [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] is going to have to keep Ohio State away from one of Notre Dame’s other commits. Today, the Buckeyes offered a scholarship to [autotag]Adon Shuler[/autotag], the New Jersey safety.

If you look through his recent activity on Twitter, most of it has ben pro Notre Dame, including visiting with former Irish star safety [autotag]Kyle Hamilton[/autotag]. There was however a retweet of fellow New Jersey star Vaboue Toure’s offer from Ohio State. Toure is a 2024 prospect but high school teammates with Shuler.

It’s hard to read into that retweet, Shuler could very well be just being happy for his teammate. Unfortunately, the saying, when there’s smoke, there’s a fire could apply here. Time will tell if Shuler is actually considering flipping to Ohio State, but the Buckeyes officially offering the Irish commit is a bit troubling.

Breaking: Notre Dame loses another 2023 commitment

Not the best recruiting news at all

At one point during this 2023 recruiting cycle, Notre Dame held the top spot in the nation but things have certainly changed since sitting atop the recruiting world earlier this year. First it was [autotag]Sedrick Irvin Jr.[/autotag], then [autotag]Justyn Rhett[/autotag] and the biggest decommit, [autotag]Keon Keeley[/autotag].

Keely obviously hurt the most, as he was the highest rated commit and was on the Ohio State sidelines shortly after formally announcing he was not a part of the Irish class anymore.

Today the fourth decommit of the 2023 cycle happened for the Irish as Arizona offensive lineman [autotag]Elijah Paige[/autotag] has decided to step away from his pledge to Notre Dame.

This one was a bit surprising as there was no smoke to Paige leaving the class. With Paige gone, the Irish have twenty-two verbals with four offensive lineman ([autotag]Charles Jagusah[/autotag], [autotag]Sullivan Absher[/autotag], [autotag]Joe Otting[/autotag], and [autotag]Sam Pendleton[/autotag]).

Former Notre Dame commit to join reigning champs

Who is the biggest remaining uncommitted defensive player in the 2023 class that Notre Dame must ultimately land?

Former Notre Dame commitment [autotag]Justyn Rhett[/autotag] appeared to be the next great safety headed to play for the Irish but that all changed a couple weeks back when he announced he was withdrawing his commitment.  It didn’t take long for Rhett to announce his new intentions as he did so Monday, stating that he now plans to attend Georgia.

Rhett, a four-star safety from [autotag]Bishop Gorman[/autotag] in Las Vegas, is ranked as the 107th player in the 2023 recruiting cycle by 247Sports.  Rhett’s flip from Notre Dame to Georgia made an impact as the Bulldogs currently rank third in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings for 2023, behind the Irish at one and [autotag]Texas Tech[/autotag] at two.  It should be noted that Texas Tech’s 19 commitments are as many as Notre Dame and Georgia combine to have, but that only four of those 19 have a four-star rating even.

All the best to Rhett at Georgia.  Hopefully he’ll get a chance to take on the Irish down the road in the [autotag]College Football Playoff[/autotag].

4-star CB Justyn Rhett decommits from Notre Dame

Four-star cornerback recruit Justyn Rhett has decommitted from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Here’s why UGA is in the mix:

Four-star cornerback recruit Justyn Rhett has decommitted from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Rhett decommitted as he visited Georgia for the 2022 spring game on April 16.

Rhett plays football for Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Rhett is ranked the No. 12 cornerback in the country and the No. 2 player in Nevada in the 2023 recruiting class. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound defensive back originally committed Notre Dame in December of 2021.

The four-star cornerback is considering Notre Dame, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Oklahoma now that he has decommitted from the Fighting Irish.

Rhett holds numerous scholarship offers from top other top college programs like Michigan, Texas A&M, Florida State and Georgia. The Bishop Gorman star could join Darnell Washington as recent elite recruit from Nevada to sign with the Georgia Bulldogs.

Notre Dame loses a 2023 commitment while visiting SEC power

It wasn’t meant to be

In early December of last year, Las Vegas Bishop Gorman star cornerback Justyn Rhett verbally committed to Notre Dame, picking the Irish over Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Oklahoma. For the next four plus months, it looked like the Irish had a commitment from one of the best defensive backs in the country.

Unfortunately, Rhett had continued to have conversations with other schools and this past weekend took an official visit to Georgia for their spring game. Prior to that trip, Rhett made a decision that many Notre Dame fans did not want to see, he decommitted from the 2023 recruiting class.

Although Rhett has been quite on his social media account, multiple outlets have confirmed the unfortunate news. The 2023 Notre Dame recruiting class now has eight total commits, however the group is no longer the top ranked class in the country according to multiple outlets.

Prized Notre Dame football recruit set to visit reigning champs

Are you worried about how this will play out?

Four-star cornerback Justyn Rhett had scholarship offers from some of the biggest and baddest programs in the land when he announced his commitment to Notre Dame in December.  Among those were Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, and USC just to name a few.

Another is a rather successful program of late and one that Rhett has decided is worth his time to take a visit to next month as the Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.) star tweeted Tuesday that he’ll make a visit to Athens, Georgia and see the reigning national champions on April 16.  This is the date of the Bulldogs spring game.

News of Rhett taking a visit to see the team and coach that just won a national championship certainly isn’t what Notre Dame fans would like to hear but if you want to climb the ladder and make it into the truly elite level of recruiting then things like this are going to continue to come with the territory.

Notre Dame adds yet another star to 2023 recruiting class

Who is the Notre Dame corner you were most excited about when they committed to the Irish?

Notre Dame has been trying to put the finishing touches on their 2022 recruiting class in recent days as the early signing period is now just days away.  That doesn’t mean they haven’t been hard at work beyond 2022 however as the Irish received another significant commitment in next year’s class over the weekend.

Justyn Rhett is a 6-1, 192-pound cornerback from powerhouse Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas and committed to Notre Dame over the weekend.  Rhett is listed by 247Sports as the 10th best corner nationally in the 2023 class and 101st player overall.

Rhett and Bishop Gorman are fresh off another Class 5A Nevada state championship, the program’s 11th in the last 13 years.  If the high school sounds familiar for Notre Dame fans it may be because it’s produced a handful of Fighting Irish players in recent years such as Ronnie Stanley, Alize Mack, and Nicco Fertitta.

Rhett becomes the seventh commitment in Notre Dame’s 2023 class and chose the Irish over Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, and USC.
