NFL Week 10 best bets: One wager to make for every team

We’ve got one bet to make on NFL every team in Week 10, from player props to picks against the spread.

The second half of the 2023 season officially begins this week with 14 games from Thursday to Monday night. It’s another week of what should be relatively close games, with only two contests featuring spreads larger than 6.5 points.

Things begin on Thursday night with the Panthers-Bears matchup and conclude on Monday night when the Broncos visit the Bills in an AFC showdown in Buffalo.

The NFL Wire editors have picked one bet to make on each team in the league this week. It’s a collection of player props, picks against the spread and more, giving bettors a nice variety of options in Week 10.

Note: The Chiefs, Rams, Dolphins and Eagles are on a bye this week.

The best player prop bets for the NFL divisional playoffs.

The divisional round of the playoffs features four games I’m predicting to stay close but could absolutely end in blowouts if things break the right way for the favorites — all of them.

The Chiefs and Eagles have been significantly better than the Jaguars and Giants all season. The 49ers have played head and shoulders above everyone lately. And the Bills were Super Bowl favorites all year.

That unpredictability makes it imperative to nail prop picks that can hit regardless of the way these games break. And I think I have just the picks for that.

Wild Card record: 3-3

Regular season record: 43-52

Week 18 is here, which means this is my last round of player props for the regular season. My only regret is that the momentum I have ending the season didn’t begin earlier.

Since Week 7, I’m 31-23 on prop picks. But an extremely rough start to the season (and missing Week 17) will rob me of an opportunity to get to .500.

No worries, though. The goal here is to finish up strong and take those good vibes into the playoffs like any good Super Bowl hopeful. Appropriately, all of this week’s picks are players in games with something on the line.

Week 16: 4-2

2022 record: 41-48

It’s always risky picking against star players doing star-player things, even when all the numbers and trends point towards an off week. So I only have myself to blame for my first sub-.500 performance since Week 6.

Taking the unders on Saquon Barkley and Nick Chubb last week just wasn’t wise. As far as Kirk Cousins’ under, I don’t regret that at all. It looked genius for about a half until the Colts decided to turn into the Little Giants.

But whatever, lesson learned. I’m going heavier on overs this week, with a couple big names sprinkled in for insurance. Let’s get it.

Week 15: 2-4

The trick in picking player props, aside from just recognizing trends, is being able to predict game script.

For instance, last week I picked Ezekiel Elliott’s rushing yards over because I thought Dallas would get up big on Houston and Elliott would get a ton of carries to milk the clock. I also picked Patrick Mahomes’ passing yards under for the same reason — KC wasn’t supposed to be in a shootout with Denver.

Unfortunately, both games ended up being close. So, Elliott fell eight yards short of the over. And Mahomes ended up nowhere near the under because he had to work his magic to make sure the Chiefs won.

Let’s hope for better luck this week.

Week 14: 3-3

If you stuck with me through the rough and tumble early part of this NFL season, it’s been paying off lately, and no week was more lucrative than last week. I went 5-1 on my pick-six in Week 13, coming within 10 yards of a perfect record (I underestimated just how much Matt Ryan would have to pass against the Cowboys).

So, yeah, I’m feeling good going into Week 14. But there’s still a lot of work to do for me to get to .500, and the end of the regular season is quickly approaching. A perfect week would go a long way here.

Week 13: 5-1

2022 record: 32-39

OK, so I’m batting .500 over the last couple of weeks. Not terrible, but definitely not something I’m prepared to settle for either.

My record won’t even out until I start stringing together some winning weeks, so that’s what we’re aiming for here.

The problem in Week 12 is that I bet against Jalen Hurts again, and that hasn’t worked out for me all year. So this week we’re going with the bold strategy of betting against…Miles Sanders, his teammate coming off a season-high of rushing yards.

What can I say. I’m a glutton for punishment. Let’s get into Week 13.

Week 12: 3-3

It’s been a long time (two weeks to be exact). I shouldn’t have left you, left you…without a few picks to step to.

After going 4-2 for a second straight week in Week 9, I took Week 10 off. But we’re back and ready to keep this record trending in the right direction after a rough start to the season.

The theme for Week 11 is “go low”, because I’m hammering unders on four of my six picks. That includes me going back to the Mac Jones passing yards under that’s been so generous to me — hopefully you’ve been tailing. Let’s get into this pick-six.

Week 9: 4-2

We finally did it! For once, we hit .500 on our prop picks.

Laugh all you want, but this is a moment I’m going to enjoy, because woof. It’s been a rough season through seven weeks for your boy.

But as we approach Week 8, dare I say momentum is on my side? In a week I declined any quarterback props, I nailed my picks for Tyler Boyd, Robert Woods and Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

Now, we’re bringing the QBs back into the fold with the big Giants-Seahawks battle taking center stage, though I still leaned heavily into the receiving yards market.

Week 7: 3-3

2022 record: 13-28

Week 3 was a week of progress for me when it came to making picks against the spread. Unfortunately, the improved picking didn’t carry over to my player prop picks, with just two of those hitting last week.

The two props I nailed were players from teams that lost, which is actually becoming a season-long trend involving four of my five correct picks. The majority of props I’ve missed have been players on winning teams. It’s obviously just a wild coincidence, but so is the fact that most of my picks this week are from teams I expect to lose. So let’s hope that trend lasts another week.
