Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Miami Marlins (29-52) and Philadelphia Phillies (53-28) play the 2nd game of a 4-game series Friday. First pitch from Citizens Bank Park is slated for 6:20 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Phillies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 2-2

The Marlins won the series opener 7-4 Thursday as 3B Jake Burger broke a 4-4 tie in the 8th inning with a solo home run. LF Bryan De La Cruz also had a bases clearing double and scored on 1B Josh Bell‘s double. LHP Tanner Scott pitched a perfect 9th inning to earn his 11th save.

The 7-4 loss to the Miami Marlins was the least of Philadelphia’s concerns because 1B Bryce Harper limped off the field after making the final out and LF Kyle Schwarber left the game earlier in the 9th inning with left groin tightness. DH Trea Turner went 2-for-4 with 3 runs scored and C Rafael Marchen had a solo HR. Despite the loss, the Phillies are 31-13 at home.

Marlins at Phillies projected starters

RHP Kyle Tyler vs. LHP Cristopher Sanchez

Tyler (0-0, 4.50 ERA) makes his 3rd appearance and 2nd start. He has a 1.17 WHIP, 4.5 BB/9 and 4.5 K/9 in 6 IP.

  • Only start: No-decision, 4 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 2 K in 6-4 win against the Seattle Mariners Sunday
  • Called up from Triple-A Jacksonville on June 22
  • Has pitched in 9 career MLB games in 3 seasons

Sanchez (5-3, 2.67 ERA) makes his 16th start. He has a 1.28 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 7.5 K/9 in 84 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 7 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 4 K in 4-1 victory against the Arizona Diamondbacks Sunday
  • Only start vs Marlins: No-decision, 5 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 4 K in 3-2 home loss on Sept 8, 2023

Marlins at Phillies picks and predictions

Prediction

Phillies 6, Marlins 2

Moneyline.

PASS.

The Phillies (-245) will bounce back in a big way on Friday night but I’m not going to pay almost 2 1/2 units. I’ll put my money down on the run line.

Run line/Against the spread

BET PHILLIES -1.5 (-118).

If you want an easy winner, whenever you see the Marlins face a lefty, put your money down on their opponent. Miami is 4-24 against southpaws and have an under .600 OPS for the season. They are also 6-17 against their NL East division rivals. Six of their last 7 losses have been by 2 or more runs. In fact, 5 of their last 7 losses have been by more than 3 runs which brings the alternative run line of Philadelphia -2.5 (+138) into play.

Over/Under

PASS.

I don’t love the trends toward this bet. I’m going to stay away because they are 5-4-1 against the Over in their last 10 meetings.

Also, in the last 10 games Miami is 5-5 against the Over and the Phillies are 4-6.

Miami Marlins at Kansas City Royals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Miami Marlins at Kansas City Royals odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Miami Marlins (27-51) and Kansas City Royals (43-37) play the middle game of a 3-game series Tuesday. First pitch from Kauffman Stadium is slated for 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Royals odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Royals lead 1-0

The Marlins could only manage 4 hits on Monday in a 4-1 loss to the Royals. Their lone run came on an RBI double from DH Bryan De La Cruz. Miami will need to rally to win its 3rd consecutive series.

Kansas City kicked off a 10-game homestand with a much-needed victory after being swept over the weekend by the Texas Rangers. The Royals got solo HRs from C Salvador Perez, RF Hunter Renfroe, and 1B Vinnie Pasquantino. LHP Cole Ragans struck out 11 Marlins in route to his 5th win.

Marlins at Royals projected starters

RHP Yonny Chirinos vs. RHP Seth Lugo

Chirinos (0-0, 3.60 ERA) makes his 2nd start. In his 1st start, he got a no-decision over 5 IP, allowing 2 ER, 8 H, 0 BB, 6 K in 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday

  • Recalled from Triple-A on June 19
  • Made 39 career starts over his 6 MLB seasons

Lugo (10-2, 2.42 ERA) makes his 17th start. He has a 1.07 WHIP, 2.1 BB/9 and 7.5 K/9 in 104 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 6 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 6 H, 3 BB, 8 K in 3-2 road victory against the Oakland A’s Thursday
  • 2024 home splits: 3-2, 3.12 ERA (43 1/3 IP, 15 ER), 1.25 WHIP, 6.0 K/9 in 7 starts
  • Last start vs Marlins: Win, 6 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 4 K in 4-0 home win on Aug 23, 2023, as a member of the San Diego Padres

Who’s going yard? Here’s a breakdown of today’s best home run props with our top picks. Include the BetMGM bonus code SBWIRE to score a $1,500 first-bet offer.

Marlins at Royals odds

Provided by FanDuel Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 12:02 a.m. ET.

  • Moneyline (ML): Marlins +168 (bet $100 to win $168) | Royals -200 (bet $200 to win $100)
  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Marlins +1.5 (-120) | Royals -1.5 (+100)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 10 (O: -102 | U: -120)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Marlins at Royals picks and predictions

Prediction

Royals 6, Marlins 2

Moneyline.

PASS.

I love the Royals (-168) to take the 2nd game of this series especially with  Lugo on the mound. I’m just not interested in paying all that juice. I’d rather take them on the run line.

Run line/Against the spread

BET ROYALS -1.5 (+100).

Kansas City plays really good baseball at Kauffman Stadium, where they are  26-14 and hitting .271 as a team. Meanwhile, the Marlins are 11-24 on the road with a team average of .224. Miami is just overmatched.

Lugo has owned the Marlins over his career, winning 4 of his 5 decisions and sporting an under 3 ERA. He has also only lost 1 start since April 21st.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 10 (-110).

I think this line is completely off. It should be like 8.5 at the most. I’m going to take advantage of this and jump all over this Under.

The last 3 meetings have gone Under including Monday night. The Royals are 0-5-1 against the Over in his last 6 games. Miami is the lowest scoring team on the road in the MLB and 2nd lowest overall.

Miami Marlins at Washington Nationals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Miami Marlins at Washington Nationals odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Miami Marlins (23-45) and Washington Nationals (32-36) begin a 3-game series Friday. First pitch from Nationals Park is slated for 6:45 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Nationals odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Nationals lead 4-0

Miami lost in dramatic fashion Thursday 3-2 on a walk-off, 2-run home run in the bottom of the 9th by New York Mets DH J.D. Martinez. The Marlins, who have dropped 2 in a row and 8 of their last 10 games, received a terrific outing from RHP Roddery Munoz (6 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 5 K) in a no-decision. The Marlins, who were +188 underdogs, scored on solo homers from 3B/1B Jake Burger and CF Jazz Chisholm Jr., and the Under (8.5) cashed.

The Nationals had s 5-game win streak snapped Thursday in a 7-2 loss as +140 road underdogs to the Detroit Tigers. LHP Patrick Corbin was the hard luck loser (5 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 4 K) and the only offense Washington could manage was 2 sacrifice flies from 3B/LF Ildemaro Vargas. They return home to Nats Park for a 6-game homestand where they are 13-17 on the season.

Marlins at Nationals projected starters

TBD vs. LHP MacKenzie Gore

Miami manager Skip Schumaker had not named a starting pitcher for this series opener as of this publishing.

Gore (5-5, 3.44 ERA) makes his 14th start. He has a 1.37 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9 and 10.7 K/9 in 68 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 5 IP, 1 ER (2 R) 6 H, 1 BB, 7 K in 7-3 home victory against the Atlanta Braves Saturday
  • Carer vs. Marlins: 1 start, loss, 5 1/3 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 7 K in 4-3 road loss May 17, 2023
  • 2024 home splits: 3-3, 4.24 ERA (40 1/3 IP, 19 ER), 1.54 WHIP, 9.1 K/9 in 8 starts

Marlins at Nationals odds

Provided by FanDuel Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 6:24 a.m. ET.

  • Moneyline (ML): Marlins +138 (bet $100 to win $138) | Nationals -164 (bet $164 to win $100)
  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Off the board
  • Over/Under (O/U): Off the board

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Marlins at Nationals picks and predictions

Prediction

Nationals 6, Marlins 3

Moneyline.

The Nationals (-164) are playing good baseball and have owned the Marlins this season thus far. It doesn’t matter who starts for Miami, Washington should win this game.

However, I’m willing to PASS on the -164 juice and I’ll back Washington’s run line — once it gets posted — as I see the Nationals winning by at least 2 runs.

Run line/Against the spread

Once the line is posted, BET NATIONALS -1.5 and don’t worry about the juice. It’s likely to be around -120 to -105.

Gore has had a very underrated season for the Nationals. He’s really had just one bad outing this season. It was 2 starts ago (June 3) against the Mets when he yielded 6 earned runs in 4 1/3 innings. Other than that, Gore hasn’t allowed more than 3 ERs in any start this season. Plus, as mentioned, Washington is 4-0 against Miami this season.

Meanwhile, the Marlins have been awful against left handed pitchers, going 3-20. They also have an under .600 OPS against lefties. It’s almost comical how bad they are against left-handers.

Over/Under

OVER is the play here.

While the O/U is currently off the board as the sportsbooks wait for a Miami starting pitcher to be announced, I’m willing to BET OVER 8.5 runs or lower. If it’s posted at 9 or higher, AVOID.

Three of the 4 head-to-head games this season have cashed Over tickets. One of those finals had Washington winning 12-9 and another saw Washington prevail 11-4.

Washington has been Over in 4 of its last 5 games.

I see a game script where Gore holds the Marlins to 2 runs or less and the Washington bullpen will likely let up a run or 2 late, but the Nationals will score enough runs of their own.

Atlanta Braves at Miami Marlins odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Atlanta Braves at Miami Marlins odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Atlanta Braves (96-51) play the 2nd game of a 3-game series against the Miami Marlins (76-72) on Saturday at loanDepot park. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportbook’s lines around the Braves vs. Marlins odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 9-2

The Braves were defeated 9-6 in the series opener Friday. OF Ronald Acuna Jr. left the game with a calf injury in the 7th inning with calf tightness, although he appears to have avoided serious injury. Atlanta is 16 games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East and already clinched the division.

Marlins 2B Luis Arraez surprisingly hit 2 home runs Friday, bringing his total to 9 on the season. Miami is currently a half-game behind the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Cincinnati Reds, who are both tied for the 3rd Wild Card spot in the NL.

Braves at Marlins projected starters

LHP Jared Shuster vs. RHP Bryan Hoeing

Shuster (4-3, 5.26 ERA) makes his 11th start. He has a 1.41 WHIP, 4.3 BB/9 and 5.1 K/9 through 49 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 4 2/3 IP, 4 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 3 K in 8-5 road defeat vs. San Francisco Giants Aug. 27
  • 2023 road stats: 1-3, 6.56 ERA (23 1/3 IP, 17 ER) in 5 starts
  • First career start vs. Marlins

Hoeing (2-2, 4.04 ERA) makes his 7th start and 31st appearance. He has a 1.22 WHIP, 3.2 BB/9 and 7.1 K/9 through 62 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 3 IP, 5 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 3 K in 10-9 home win vs. St. Louis Cardinals on July 5
  • 2023 home stats: 1-0, 2.93 ERA (30 2/3 IP, 10 ER) in 4 starts and 8 relief appearances.
  • Career vs. Braves: 0-2, 13.03 ERA (9 2/3 IP, 14 ER) in 2 starts and 2 relief appearances

  • Over/Under (O/U): 9 (O: -118 | U: -104)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Braves at Marlins picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 6, Marlins 4

Moneyline

Even with Shuster getting the start and the chance that Acuna is out, I’ll back the BRAVES (-132) on the road in Saturday’s divisional matchup. Atlanta has gone 9-2 in the first 11 meetings with Miami this season and will want to get even after Friday’s series-opening loss.

Run line/Against the spread

BRAVES -1.5 (+118) has fantastic value as Hoeing has mightily struggled against Atlanta in his career. All 9 of Atlanta’s wins over Miami this season have come by at least 2 runs.

Over/Under

OVER 9 (-118) is the play in this contest with Shuster and Hoeing on the mound. Hoeing has given up at least 4 earned runs in 3 of his 6 starts this season.

Meanwhile, Shuster hasn’t been much better as he’s allowed 3 earned runs or more in 3 of his last 5 starts. The Over is also 9-2 in the 11 meetings between these teams this season.

Miami Marlins at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Miami Marlins at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Milwaukee Brewers (80-63) welcome the Miami Marlins (74-70) to American Family Field Tuesday for the 2nd game of a 4-game series. First pitch is set for 7:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Brewers lead 1-0 after winning the series opener 12-0 Monday

The Brewers are 41-28 at home this season and are 6-4 over their last 10 games. Milwaukee holds a 3 game lead over the Chicago Cubs atop the NL Central.

The Marlins are 34-38 on the road this season and are 7-3 over their last 10 games. Miami is on the outside looking in on the playoff race, sitting 1 1/2 games back of the final NL Wild Card.

Marlins at Brewers projected starters

RHP JT Chargois vs. RHP Freddy Peralta

Chargois (1-0, 3.63 ERA) makes his 3rd start and 38th appearance. He has a 1.21 WHIP, 3.6 BB/9 and 7.5 K/9 through 34 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 1 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 BB, 2 K in an 11-4 home win vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers Wednesday
  • Last appearance: No-decision, 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 BB, 1 K in a 10-0 home loss vs. Dodgers Thursday
  • 2023 road stats: 1-0, 5.40 ERA in 15 IP over 17 relief appearances

Peralta (11-8, 3.89 ERA) makes his 28th start. He has a 1.13 WHIP, 3.2 BB/9 and 11.4 K/9 through 150 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 1/3 IP, 3 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 4 K in 5-4 road loss vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday
  • 2023 home stats: 6-4, 3.59 ERA in 82 2/3 IP in 15 starts

Marlins at Brewers odds

Provided by BetMGM Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:54 a.m. ET.

  • Moneyline (ML): Marlins +140  (bet $100 to win $140) | Brewers -165 (bet $165 to win $100)
  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Marlins +1.5 (-145) | Brewers -1.5 (+120)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 7.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Marlins at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 6, Marlins 3

Moneyline

PASS.

The Marlins are in the bottom half of the league in road win percentage at 34-38, and they were blasted by the Brewers in the opener Monday. Milwaukee is 41-28 at home which ranks 7th in the MLB.

However, at (-165), I would still pass and look towards the spread for better value.

Run line/Against the spread

BET BREWERS -1.5 (+120).

The Marlins are starting a reliever and set to play a bullpen-heavy game Tuesday. However, that isn’t necessarily their strength as their relievers rank 18th in the MLB in ERA at 4.22.

Miami sits with the 5th-worst cover rate as a road underdog as well at 28-28. Back BREWERS -1.5 (+120).

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 7.5 (-120).

The Brewers have been on fire as of late, scoring 7 or more runs in 4 of their last 6 games. They are 5-1 O/U in those battles and are 7-3 O/U in their last 10 games.

Miami has similar trends. It has gone Over in 8 of its last 10 and has scored at least 4 runs in 2 of its last 3 games. It should find more success at the plate Tuesday.

Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Miami Marlins (73-68) will play the 2nd game of a 3-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies (77-63) on Saturday at Citizens Bank Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Phillies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Marlins lead 6-5

The Marlins edged out the Phillies 3-2 on Friday in the series opener. OF Jesus Sanchez delivered a 2-run homer as a pinch hitter in the 6th inning to tie the game and C Jacob Stallings smacked a solo shot in the 7th frame for the win. Miami has won 7 of its last 8 games and is 4 1/2 games behind Philadelphia for 2nd place in the NL East and is a half-game back of the Arizona Diamondbacks for the final NL Wild card.

Phillies SS Trea Turner continues to impress as he went yard for his 8th home run in his last 8 games. Philadelphia is 5-5 in its last 10 contests and currently holds the top Wild Card spot in the NL.

Marlins at Phillies projected starters

RHP Johnny Cueto vs. RHP Aaron Nola

Cueto (1-3, 5.54 ERA) makes his 8th start and 9th appearance. He has a 1.15 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 7.2 K/9 through 37 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 5 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 4 K in 11-5 road win vs. Washington Nationals last Saturday

Marlins at Phillies picks and predictions

Prediction

Phillies 5, Marlins 4

Moneyline

While the Phillies are expected to secure the win at home on Saturday, I’ll PASS on their moneyline at nearly -200 odds. Look to the spread and/or total instead.

Run line/Against the spread

MARLINS +1.5 (-120) is the play in this divisional showdown as Cueto and Nola have both been shaky this season. The Marlins have either won or lost by a single run in 7 of their 11 meetings against the Phillies this season.

Over/Under

UNDER 9.5 (-120) is the lean in this contest as Nola has performed much better at home this season (3.17 ERA at home, 5.66 ERA on the road). The Under is also 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these clubs this season.

Analyzing Saturday’s Miami Marlins at Los Angeles Dodgers Game 2 odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Miami Marlins (64-59) close out a 3-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers (74-47) Saturday at Dodger Stadium. First pitch for Game 2 is scheduled for 9:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Dodgers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

(Stats and records don’t include the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader)

Season series: Marlins lead 1-0

The Marlins secured an 11-3 victory over the Dodgers on Friday to snap a 2-game losing skid. Miami got home runs from OF Jorge Soler (2), 3B Jake Burger, C Jacob Stallings and OF Jazz Chisholm Jr in Friday’s win.

Solo home runs by 2B Mookie Betts, 3B Max Muncy and OF James Outman supplied the Dodgers’ 3 runs in the loss. Los Angeles had an 11-game win streak snapped Friday, but it remains 10 1/2 games ahead of the San Francisco Giants atop the NL West.

Marlins at Dodgers projected starters

LHP Braxton Garrett vs. LHP Julio Urias

Marlins at Dodgers picks and predictions

Prediction

Dodgers 4, Marlins 3

Moneyline

While the Dodgers can bounce back after their 11-game win streak ended on Friday, I’ll PASS on their money line in this contest at -200 odds.

Run line/Against the spread

MARLINS +1.5 (-120) is the play in this matchup as Garrett has been good on the road this season. The Marlins have either won or kept their game within 1 run in 7 of their last 10 contests.

Over/Under

Both teams are capable of excelling against left-handed pitching, but I’ll lean toward the UNDER 8 (-110) in this game. Garrett has given up more than 2 earned runs in only 2 of his 11 road starts this season, while Urias has allowed a combined 3 earned runs in his last 3 starts.

The Dodgers are also 2-7-1 to the Over in their last 10 games overall.

The Miami Marlins (63-59) start a 3-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers (74-46) on Friday at Dodger Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 10:10 p.m. ET. Marlins at Dodgers picks and predictions

Prediction

Dodgers 5, Marlins 3

Moneyline

It’s hard to bet against Los Angeles right now, making the DODGERS (-150) the pick at home in Friday’s series opener. The Dodgers are 7-3 in the last 10 meetings overall and they’ve won 35 of their last 49 games at home.

Run line/Against the spread

There is value in taking the DODGERS -1.5 (+135) with Alcantara’s career woes against Los Angeles and the Dodgers’ recent stretch of success. The Dodgers have won by at least 2 runs in 8 of their 11 wins on their current winning streak.

Over/Under

UNDER 8.5 (-110) is the lean in this game with Alcantara and Gonsolin coming off 1-run quality starts. The Over is 4-5-1 in the last 10 meetings overall, and the Dodgers are 2-7-1 to the Over in their last 10 games overall.

Marlins at Reds picks and predictions

Prediction

Marlins 5, Reds 3

Moneyline

Both teams have sputtered since the All-Star break, but I’ll back the MARLINS (-135) on the road with Perez returning to Miami’s rotation on Monday.

Run line/Against the spread

The MARLINS -1.5 (+120) are a decent value as they should have success against Williamson. The Marlins are tied for the 4th-best wOBA (.356) and own the 5th-best wRC+ (126) against left-handed pitching since the start of July.

Over/Under

This game takes place at a hitter-friendly venue, but I’ll go with the UNDER 10.5 (-110) in this contest. Both of these teams are 6-4 to the Under in their last 10 games overall.

The Marlins are also 10-5 to the Under in their last 15 games, while the Reds are 18-6 to the Under in their last 24.

The Miami Marlins (58-52) open a 3-game series against the Texas Rangers (63-46) on Friday at Globe Life Field. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Rangers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting of 2023; Rangers went 2-1 against the Marlins in 2022.

The Marlins were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2 on Thursday, giving them 3 losses in their last 4 games. Miami is in 3rd place in the NL East, 13 games behind the division-leading Atlanta Braves and 1/2 game back of the final NL Wild Card spot.

The Rangers completed a 3-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox with a 5-3 win Thursday in RHP Max Scherzer’s debut. Texas is now 1 1/2 games ahead of the Houston Astros atop the AL West.

  • Last start: No-decision, 4 2/3 IP, 4 ER, 7 H, 3 BB, 3 K in 8-6 home win over vs. Detroit Tigers Sunday
  • 2023 road stats: 4-3, 4.63 ERA (46 2/3 IP, 24 ER) across 9 starts

Montgomery (6-9, 3.42 ERA) makes his 22nd start. He has a 1.25 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 8.0 K/9 through 121 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 6 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 4 BB, 3 K in 3-2 home loss vs. Chicago Cubs last Friday

Marlins at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 5, Marlins 3

Moneyline

With Montgomery making his debut for Texas on Friday, I’ll back the RANGERS (-145) at home. The Rangers are 37-20 at home this season compared to the Marlins producing a 24-28 road record.

Run line/Against the spread

RANGERS -1.5 (+140) is a solid bet as Texas looks like one of the best lineups in baseball again with SS Corey Seager back from injury. Luzardo just surrendered 4 earned runs to the Tigers in his last outing and the Rangers are a far superior team.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

UNDER 8.5 (-115) is the lean in this game as I believe Montgomery will limit Miami’s lineup in his debut for Texas. Both teams are also 6-4 to the Under in their last 10 games.
