Analyzing Sunday’s Miami Marlins at Texas Rangers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Miami Marlins (58-54) and Texas Rangers (65-46) meet Sunday for the finale of a 3-game series. First pitch from Globe Life Field is set for 2:35 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Rangers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Rangers lead 2-0

Texas won 9-8 Saturday as a -138 home favorite, overcoming a 5-0 deficit after 3½ innings. DH Robbie Grossman, SS Corey Seager and 3B Josh Jung sparked the rally with homers in the middle innings to catapult Texas to a 7-5 lead and the eventual win.

It was the Marlins’ 3rd consecutive loss. They’re 4-6 in their last 10 games and 24-30 on the road.

Meanwhile, the Rangers have won 5 in a row — they’re also 6-4 in their last 10. Plus, they own the best home record in baseball at 39-20.

Marlins at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 6, Marlins 5

Moneyline

LEAN RANGERS (-135).

As mentioned, the Rangers have the best home record in the majors. They’re 4-1 in their last 5 vs. the Marlins, taking 2 of 3 in South Florida last season.

Texas is the much hotter team and the Marlins have struggled on the road this season. Look for TEXAS (-135) to complete the sweep and extend their winning streak to 6.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

I have faith in the Marlins to cover here, especially because they’ll be fighting to avoid a sweep, but at +1.5 (-175), the line is not worth the juice. Bet on the moneyline and/or O/U instead.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 8.5 (-115).

The Over is also 5-2 in the last 7 Miami-Texas matchups.

The Over is 2-1 in Alcantara’s last 3 starts for Miami. For Texas, the Over is 2-1 in Heaney’s last 3 starts. Sure, these don’t fit a big enough sample size, but call this one a “gut feeling.”

Season series: Texas leads 1-0

The Marlins lost the series opener 6-2 Friday, marking their 4th loss in their last 5 games. Miami is 2-5 over its last 7 games and 24-29 on the road this season, sitting 3rd in the NL East — 14 games behind the division-leading Atlanta Braves.

The Rangers swept the Chicago White Sox in a 3-game series to start the week and enter on a 4-game win streak. They are 38-20 at home this season but just 5-5 over their last 10 games overall, although 6 of those outings were on the road. Texas leads the AL West, 1 1/2 games ahead of the Houston Astros.

Soriano (0-0, 1.98 ERA) makes his 1st career start and 12th appearance. He has a 1.10 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9 and 8.6 K/9 through 27 1/3 IP.

  • Last appearance: No-decision, 1 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 K in relief in 8-6 home win vs. Detroit Tigers Sunday
  • 2023 away stats: 0-0, 2.25 ERA (12 IP, 3 ER) in 4 relief appearances

Marlins at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 5, Marlins 2

Moneyline

PASS.

Betting against the Rangers at home this season hasn’t been wise, and that trend should continue Saturday. They had a strong start to the series as OF Adolis Garcia got a hit in each at-bat and finished with 2 RBIs.

Texas has the 2nd-best home record in the majors, only behind the Tampa Bay Rays. That strength makes the Marlins a pass, but Texas (-190) is far too expensive as an outright play.

Run line/Against the spread

BET RANGERS -1.5 (+105).

The Marlins will be starting Soriano, who likely won’t go more than 3 innings. They don’t have a strong bullpen, sitting 17th in the league in reliever ERA (4.12).

Texas has been the best team in the MLB on the run line at home, posting a strong 37-21 record. It is also the best in the majors as a favorite (40-31). On the flip side, Miami is just 26-27 on the run line on the road (the 5th-worst covering rate in MLB).

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 9 (-115).

The Under has been a strong play for the Rangers as of late. They have gone Under in 6 of their last 7 games, having allowed just 6 runs throughout their last 4 games.

Miami is 51-56-4 O/U on the season and has gone Under in 4 of its last 5 games as well. Its bats have been a problem as of late, scoring 2 or fewer runs in 4 of its last 5 games.

The Marlins were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2 on Thursday, giving them 3 losses in their last 4 games. Miami is in 3rd place in the NL East, 13 games behind the division-leading Atlanta Braves and 1/2 game back of the final NL Wild Card spot.

Marlins at Rangers projected starters

LHP Jesus Luzardo vs. LHP Jordan Montgomery

Luzardo (8-5, 3.38 ERA) makes his 23rd start. He has a 1.18 WHIP, 2.5 BB/9 and 10.6 K/9 through 125 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 4 2/3 IP, 4 ER, 7 H, 3 BB, 3 K in 8-6 home win over vs. Detroit Tigers Sunday
  • 2023 road stats: 4-3, 4.63 ERA (46 2/3 IP, 24 ER) across 9 starts
  • Career vs. Rangers: 0-1, 2.30 ERA (15 2/3 IP, 4 ER) over 2 starts and 2 relief appearances

Montgomery (6-9, 3.42 ERA) makes his 22nd start. He has a 1.25 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 8.0 K/9 through 121 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 6 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 4 BB, 3 K in 3-2 home loss vs. Chicago Cubs last Friday

Marlins at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 5, Marlins 3

Moneyline

With Montgomery making his debut for Texas on Friday, I’ll back the RANGERS (-145) at home. The Rangers are 37-20 at home this season compared to the Marlins producing a 24-28 road record.

Run line/Against the spread

RANGERS -1.5 (+140) is a solid bet as Texas looks like one of the best lineups in baseball again with SS Corey Seager back from injury. Luzardo just surrendered 4 earned runs to the Tigers in his last outing and the Rangers are a far superior team.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

UNDER 8.5 (-115) is the lean in this game as I believe Montgomery will limit Miami’s lineup in his debut for Texas. Both teams are also 6-4 to the Under in their last 10 games.
