Eagles have no players make a PFF ranking of the top 50 pending NFL free agents

PFF released their ranking of the top 50 pending NFL free agents for 2024 and the Philadelphia Eagles had zero players make the list

The Eagles are in the midst of a youth movement, that includes a handful of longtime veterans nearing the end, and key contributors serving as stopgaps for future additions.

PFF recently released their rankings for the top 50 pending free agents for 2024, and not one of Philadelphia’s 22 free agents to be made the list.

The Patriots, Chiefs and Cowboys were among the top teams on the list.

The Eagles will have decisions to make, with D’Andre Swift, Fletcher Cox, Quez Watkins and Brandon Graham among the biggest names.

Eagles vs. Seahawks: Seven stats to know for Week 15

We’re looking at seven stats to know for the Philadelphia Eagles Week 15 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks

The Eagles and Seahawks are set for an intriguing Monday night matchup, with both teams facing similar adversity.

Philadelphia (10-3) will travel the North West to battle Seattle (6-7), with Pete Carroll’s group facing a must-win scenario after four consecutive losses.

The Seahawks will have Geno Smith return to the lineup, while the Eagles have lost back-to-back games and will look to be more efficient on offense, especially quarterback Jalen Hurts.

We’re looking at seven stats for Monday night with the Friday practice session underway.

Ten Seahawks to watch in Monday night matchup vs. Eagles

We’re looking at ten players to watch for the Seattle Seahawks when they face the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football

The Eagles and Seahawks are set for an intriguing Monday night matchup, with both teams facing similar adversity.

Seattle is coming off their fourth-straight loss of the season after losing to the San Francisco 49ers without quarterback Geno Smith.

The Seahawks need a win to get back in contention, while Philadelphia has been blown out in back-to-back weeks and needs a win to remain in contention for the No. 1 overall seed.

With Friday’s practice set to begin, we’re looking at ten Seattle players to watch in Week 15.

Leonard Williams is least to blame for Seahawks’ issues since the trade

The Seattle Seahawks gave up a lot to obtain defensive end Leonard Williams from the New York Giants.

The Seattle Seahawks gave up a lot to obtain defensive end Leonard Williams from the New York Giants. As part of the deal, they sent their 2024 second-round draft pick, plus a fifth-round pick in 2025.

Williams is a special player, though. One can argue whether or not Seattle gave up too much draft capital to land him, but now that they have him it would probably be the wrong move to let him go. Williams will be on the wrong side of 30 years old next season. However, he’s also been the team’s best defender and most-consistent performer overall since the trade went down.

In the six games that Williams has played in a Seahawks uniform, they’ve gone 1-5. Williams has balled out, though – racking up 18 total tackles, three sacks, four tackles for a loss, eight quarterback hits and 10 pressures. The numbers themselves are impressive, but given the context they are magnificent, as Williams has faced a high rate of double teams since arriving in Seattle.

Williams’ impact is the single biggest reason why the pass rush has performed relatively well despite the team’s recent losing streak. There are major problems on defense, but they’re related to scheme, poor tackling and bad coverage on the back end.

Seattle can still get a high comp pick if they let Williams go, but at this point we’d prefer to re-sign him rather than try to find the next Leonard Williams in the draft. The defensive line is where they should be spending their resources, anyway.

Jarran Reed and Dre’Mont Jones have also played at a respectable level this season. However, in order to get past teams with great pass rushers like the 49ers the bar has to be set extraordinarily high. John Schneider may have to be more aggressive than ever to match the defensive lines this team needs to beat to get back to the Super Bowl.

Seahawks 53-man roster tracker: QB, LB elevated from practice squad

Our 53-man roster tracker is updated.

The Seattle Seahawks announced a couple of practice squad elevations on Saturday ahead of today’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Recently re-signed third-string quarterback Sean Mannion has been elevated as a contingency in case starter Geno Smith is unable to play. Smith is listed as questionable with elbow and groin injuries. The Seahawks also elevated linebacker Patrick O’Connell, who gives them some extra depth in case Jordyn Brooks is inactive – he is also listed as questionable.

Here’s the team’s updated 53-man roster by jersey number (Dec. 10).

Leonard Williams trade a bad move by Seahawks, according to PFF

Williams is a great player, but the trade has aged poorly pretty quick.

What a difference a month makes. For the minute there, it really did seem like these Seattle Seahawks had a window to break into the Super Bowl contender conversation, or at least overtake the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West race. Fast forward a handful of games and the Seahawks don’t look any better than they did last season, while the Niners are now considered five-point favorites on a neutral field against any NFL team. As for Sunday’s matchup in Santa Clara, they’re favored by 12.5 points.

To be fair, nobody sees what’s coming and the Seahawks made an aggressive move to try to punch through the scrum and emerge as a real contender. That’s why they traded second and fifth-round picks to the New York Giants in exchange for defensive end Leonard Williams, one of the top interior defensive linemen in the league.

Unfortunately, that trade has aged poorly pretty quickly. While Williams has performed well on the field it’s become painfully clear that the Seahawks are still very far behind the best teams in the game – making the draft capital they gave up more precious than anything Williams might offer.

Here’s a nugget from Pro Football Focus which takes Seahawks general manager John Schneider to task for the move.

“The decision to move second- and fifth-round picks for Leonard Williams, a 29-year-old pending free agent who is not franchise-taggable, has received virtually zero criticism, despite it being an arguably worse move than the Chicago Bears trading for Montez Sweat. Understandably, the Seahawks saw a window to get aggressive after the NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers dropped three straight games, but Seattle subsequently got demolished 37-3 by the Ravens in Week 9.”

If your knee-jerk reaction is to call PFF wrong one should keep in mind that truth hurts – and getting defensive is likely a sign you know they’re right.

The Seahawks can still get a high-end comp pick back if they let Leonard Williams walk in free agency. However, the fact that Williams has bought a house in the Seattle area indicates he intends to sign a long-term contract after this season is over.

Williams is a great player, but the trade is a questionable move and part of a broader trend of mismatched pieces on this roster. While there are some quality young foundational pieces in place, their franchise quarterback just turned 33, their defense would probably fall apart without their 33-year old middle linebacker and a lot of key contributors are on the wrong side of that critical 30-year old landmark.

What are we doing here? Where is the window, exactly? How do Schneider and Pete Carroll plan to break into that elusive tier of top-eight teams when they keep getting decimated in the trenches by any team that really matters, even after they’ve invested a ton of resources on their defensive line?

12 of the top individual PFF grades for the Seahawks in Week 12

Here are 12 Seahawks players who stood out in individual parts of the game against the 49ers according to the Pro Football Focus grades.

The Seahawks got another thumpin’ from the 49ers at home last night, their fourth consecutive loss to their NFC West rivals. While the 31-13 loss is a bummer, it’s important to take away the positives as well as the negatives. Seattle got more quality football from their young core, especially from second-year left tackle Charles Cross and rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon, as well as rookie wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Veterans like Jamal Adams and Leonard Williams also contributed.
