Florida football’s interest in this 4-star linebacker is feeling mutual

The mutual interest continues to grown between UF and this clue-chip recruit.

Billy Napier and his army of staffers have been working tirelessly to create an inviting environment for the top prep prospects in the nation. While the team has a steep hill to climb as far as returning the Orange and Blue back to a premier collegiate destination, their work has already begun to show some promise.

Four-star linebacker [autotag]Kristopher Jones[/autotag] out of Fairfax (Virginia) has been a target for the Gators in the 2024 recruiting class dating back to last summer when the program extended a scholarship offer to the coveted athlete. The 6-foot-2-inch, 220-pound middle defender has already stopped in Gainesville thrice unofficially and has an official visit set for the opening weekend of June.

So far, Florida has managed to achieve its goal of making the rising high school senior feel welcome on campus.

“My relationship is great with them,” Jones told Swamp247. “I just feel like the family feel that the program brings, not just from the coaching staff but from the people around the staff, they just treat their recruits well.”

The only other school to have an official visit date set with him is the Georgia Bulldogs, who are slated for the weekend of June 16. The Penn State Nittany Lions and Virginia Tech Hokies are also in the mix for an OV as well.

Jones is ranked No. 163 overall and No. 15 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 206 and 20, respectively. Florida holds the long 247Sports crystal ball for him while also narrowly leading in On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 22.4% chance of signing him. Penn State (16.4%), Georgia (14.0%) and Virginia Tech (9.4%) follow behind.

Ohio State makes cut for 2024 four-star linebacker

Still a long way to go, but Ohio State has made the shortlist for one of the top linebackers in the nation. #GoBucks

Now that the Ohio State football season is officially over, the Buckeye coaching staff is diligently working on the next crop of recruits to wear the scarlet and gray. After signing a top 10 class in 2023, the Bucks have a good start to the 2024 class.

OSU got some good news on the defensive side of the ball when Kristopher Jones, the No. 9 linebacker in the class according to 247Sports composite rankings has included Ohio State in his first cut. Joining the Buckeyes on the short list are Florida, Georgia, LSU, Maryland, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.

This still feels early in the race and clearly there are many teams still in good standing with Jones. No one can argue, the list is quite large, but these kids get a great deal of offers, so the fact that Jones is cutting it down means he is taking his options seriously.

We’ll keep an eye on this one as things continue to develop.

Ohio State Football: Quick recruiting recap from this past weekend

It looks like they had a great time

The Buckeyes weren’t just busy on the field this weekend, they are active on the recruiting trail as well. Even though The Game didn’t go Ohio State’s way, it didn’t mean that the weekend was a complete bust. Ryan Day and his staff were active with plenty of recruits who were in Columbus and some that weren’t. Check out some of the action from over the weekend below.

LSU offers 2024 4-star linebacker from Virginia

The Tigers are after hard-hitting linebacker Kristopher Jones.

[autotag]Kristopher Jones[/autotag] is a 6-foot-2, 205-pound linebacker/running back from Stafford, Virginia, where he plays for Mountain View High School. The Wildcats finished last season 11-2 with a loss to eventual state champion, Stone Bridge in the quarterfinals of the VHSL – Class 5 playoffs.

Film Analysis: Jones is a vicious linebacker. When he gets a head of steam and starts running downhill, look out, because someone is about to get their clock cleaned. He is a bully in pass-rush situations as well as he demands a double-team on most plays and he still finds a way to get into the backfield to disrupt the play.

The Georgia Bulldogs have extended a scholarship offer to Kristopher Jones, who is the top-ranked class of 2024 recruit in Virginia. Jones plays linebacker for Mountain View High School in Stafford, Virginia, which is outside of Washington D.C.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound linebacker is a rising junior and has a 3.5 GPA, per his Twitter account. Jones already has scholarship offers from some of the better college football programs across the country like Tennessee, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Boston College, and more.

Jones visited Georgia on June 2 and received a scholarship offer from the defending national champions.

Kristopher Jones is rated as the No. 109 recruit in his class and the ninth-ranked linebacker. As a sophomore at Mountain View, Jones showed a propensity for disrupting the opposing quarterback. He frequently lined up at outside linebacker and finished the 2022 season with 10 sacks.

Jones is capable of getting off blocks and displayed speed, acceleration, and quickness during an interception return for a touchdown last season. The elite linebacker also put in some work and made impact plays on special teams. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart loves players who can contribute as a special teams player.

The four-star linebacker announced his scholarship offer from Georgia via Twitter:

Recruits react to weekend in Norman visiting with the Oklahoma Sooners

Check out what recruits had to say after visiting with the Oklahoma Sooners over the weekend.

It’s recruiting season for Oklahoma Football and over the last couple of weeks since the Sooners’ spring game, the key figures at OU have been out on the road meeting with high schools and building relationships across the country. Beyond recruiting particular kids, Oklahoma is recruiting schools and their coaches to buy into the vision that [autotag]Brent Venables[/autotag] is putting in place in Norman.

The program welcomed a host of high school athletes across the next three recruiting classes to give them a taste of what Oklahoma football is all about.

Over the weekend, they’ve put out offers to Kristopher Jones, Jordan Pride, Damani Maxson, Jaybron Harvey, and several others. They’re leaving no stone unturned as they look for players that fit what they’re trying to put together.

One notable name in for a weekend visit was transfer wide receiver L.V. Bunkley-Shelton, who is looking for a new home after playing the last two seasons at Arizona State, amassing 44 receptions for 518 yards and two touchdowns.

Safe to say the athletes in attendance came away impressed with their time in Norman and we’ve collected some of the best reactions from the latest recruiting weekend put on by the Oklahoma Sooners.

Oklahoma offers 2024 four-star linebacker Kristopher Jones out of Virginia

Oklahoma offers 2024 4-star linebacker Kristopher Jones, a top-three player out of the state of Virginia.

As the days go by, the offers keep going out for the Oklahoma Sooners as the Sooners continue to put their roots down across the east coast. It may be a bit early to see how well it works out for them but the OU’s diligence in recruiting talent from that side of the country is very apparent.

One of their latest offers goes out to Virginia and was received by four-star linebacker Kristopher Jones out of Stafford, VA. Jones is a linebacker in every sense and flashes the ability to move sideline-to-sideline to make plays. He’s decisive in his reads and makes sure he’s violent yet controlled when getting to the ball carrier.

At 6-foot-2 and over 200 pounds he has the frame to fill out into a high-level college linebacker that could play in the middle but looks best playing off-ball and as a situational pass rusher.

Jones becomes the sixth linebacker offered by Roof and Venables since they joined the Oklahoma Football program.
