2024 4-Star Safety Jordan Pride reaffirms his commitment to Texas A&M

While several 2024 prospects have de-committed from Texas A&M, four-star safety Jordan Pride is reportedly all-in with the Maroon & White.

While bad news regarding the transfer portal and de-commitments have hampered new Texas A&M coach Mike Elko’s first entire month on the job, the former Duke HC has already landed his first commitment through the portal. As of this week, multiple 2024 commits have reaffirmed their commitment to the program, including four-star safety Jordan Pride.

Pride, who committed to then-head coach Jimbo Fisher on May 9, is currently positioned as the 13th-ranked safety and 22nd-ranked player in Florida while recently taking an official visit to College Station back on Sept. 22. On Monday, Pride, through a post on X, stated his recruitment is shut down after taking his first visit to meet Mike Elko last weekend.

Amid all the chaos surrounding the wave of Aggie de-commitments in the last week, current interim head coach Elijah Robinon’s future departure to become Syracuses’ new defensive coordinator next season has led to at least one former A&M commit, 2024 4-star WR Jaylen Hornsby to flip to the Orange, causing some to question if Robinson’s change of scenery will persuade recruits and members of the roster to follow him to New Jersey.

However, during last week’s press conference, Robinson noted that he would “not encourage” any A&M-affiliated prospect/player during his transition.

“I will not encourage anyone. Those guys have to make the decision to go into the portal on their own. I will not at any point say, ‘Come with me.’ I have too much respect for the program and the university.”

For Jordan Pride, his decision to make Texas A&M his home for the next three to four years is fantastic news for Elko and his staff, as a new and hopefully bright future for Aggie Football is on the horizon.

Texas A&M football gets a multi-sport, versatile safety in 2024 4-star commit Jordan Pride

With 2024 four-star safety Jordan Pride committing to Texas A&M, can he fill the void left by a former impactful defender in the secondary?

Texas A&M landed its sixth commitment in the 2024 recruiting class in the form of four-star safety Jordan Pride out of Florida, but what should fans expect when he eventually takes the field for the Aggies?

As one of the highest-rated players in his class, Pride is listed at nearly 6-2 and 175 lbs, and he’s an experienced multi-sport athlete in playing basketball, baseball, and track and field. He’s just the latest Maroon and White addition with playing experience beyond the gridiron, joining former Aggie Devon Achane and current center Bryce Foster.

After running a personal-best 11.01 100-meter dash and a 5-9.75 high jump in high school, it’s safe to say that the future Aggie will bring a nice blend of speed and athleticism to an A&M secondary that lost a handful of key cornerstones via the draft.

Among those losses is safety Antonio Johnson, who interestingly enough, possesses tangibles that closely resemble that of Pride. Johnson is 6-2, 198 lbs, and was a vital component of a Texas A&M secondary that allowed just 162.1 passing YPG last season (second in the country). With a coverage grade of 79.7 and a tackling grade of 70.7 per PFF, Johnson leaves some big shoes to fill.

But could his heir apparent be on the horizon in the Aggies’ newest commit?

Here’s what 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins, Director of Scouting, had to say about the Class of 2024 prospect:

“Spent a few months at IMG Academy and got varsity snaps with the Ascenders before electing to return back home. While at the national powerhouse flashed some range on the backend and was able to use his longer reach to eliminate throwing windows. Quick to read and diagnose. Understands how to play angles and has the footspeed to close most gaps. Face-up tackler that can wrangle larger players to the ground, but could always get a little more aggressive at the point of attack, especially if he wants to live in the box. Has the makeup of a potential ace on special teams given how he runs and sifts through traffic. Overall, should be viewed as a potential impact player in the back seven for a Power Five program.”

While there’s always a learning curve when playing against SEC competition, it’s clear that Pride brings the skillset of a complete safety that should be equipped to make a play in the air or bring down an opposing player in the open field.

The Aggie faithful should be excited to see Pride on the field soon enough!

Jordan Pride, 4-star DB from Florida commits to Texas A&M

Pride is the sixth-best safety in his class and No. 84 in the nation.

Two of the top safety prospects in the country have come off the board this week. On Sunday,Ā USCĀ got a commitment from Thompson (Ala.)Ā four-star safety Anquon Fegans, who ranks first or second at his positionā€”depending on who you askā€”and No. 16 nationally in the class of 2025.

Then on Tuesday, Blountstown (Fla.) four-star safety Jordan Pride announced his commitment toĀ Texas A&M’sĀ class of 2024.

Going by the composite rankings, Pride (6-foot-1, 175 pounds) is the sixth-best safety in his classĀ and No. 84 in the nation. He also had offers from 19 other schools, including Florida State,Ā AlabamaĀ and Georgia.

PrideĀ told Hayes Fawcett at On3Ā that he has a long-time relationship with the head coach Jimbo Fisher.

“My relationship with Coach Jimbo goes back since 12 years old… I used to play baseball with his son Ethan so thatā€™s how long Iā€™ve had a connection with him. And just keep visiting the last 2 times just brought back the great memories.”

Pride also revealed that the Aggies will be starting him out at cornerback.

Texas A&M’s recruiting class of 2024 now has six hard commits, including Pine Tree (Texas) DL Dealyn Evans, Tompkins (Texas) OT Ashton Funk, Oak Grove (Miss.) QB Anthony Maddox, Milton (Ga.) WR Debron Gatlin and Tupelo (Miss.) LB Tristan Jernigan. ThisĀ group ranks No. 25Ā nationally.

2024 4-star Safety Jordan Pride commits to Texas A&M

Texas A&M has officially landed one of the top defensive backs in the 2024 recruiting class as 4-star safety Jordan Pride commits to Texas A&M

BOOM! Texas A&M has landed its sixth commitment in the 2024 recruiting class, as four-star safety Jordan Pride out of Florida is tied with four-star defensive lineman Dealyn Evans as the highest-rated player in the class, and the first defensive back for the Maroon and White this cycle.

Pride chose the Aggies over six other SEC programs, including Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida, Ole Miss, and Alabama, all after de-committing from his first choice, Florida State, where he was committed for almost two years.

After spending a short time at the prestigious IMG Academy before transferring back to Blountstown High School in Blountstown, Florida, where Pride went on to record 20 tackles and 2 interceptions, including a pick-six on defense, and caught 22 passes for 667 yards and 6 TD as a receiver on offense.

Ranked as one of the 100 ranked players in the 2024 cycle, Pride is the 6th ranked safety and the 18th-ranked player in Florida, and while former Aggie safety/nickel corner Antonio Johnson essentially broke the mold of versatility as one of the best hybrid safeties to play for the Maroon and White in the last decade, Pride’s 6-2, 175-pound frame and experience at multiple positions in the secondary, and ball skills on offense puts him in a great position to make an instant impact as soon as he steps foot on campus in 2024.

Congratulations, Jordan! Gig ‘Em!

2024 4-Star Safety Jordan Pride places Texas A&M among his Top 6 program list

Texas A&M has made the Top 8 program list for rising 2024 4-star safety Jordan Pride

Texas A&M now knows where they stand with one of the more versatile prospects in the 2024 recruiting class, as four-star safety Jordan Pride released his Top 6 program list on Sunday night. As a Florida native, Pride recently de-committed from Florida State on Apr. 12th, while taking an unofficial visit to College Station just a month later on May 5.

Pride’s includes six SEC programs, including Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida, Ole Miss, Alabama, and of course, Texas A&M.

According to 247Sports, Pride is ranked as the 6th safety in the class and the 18th-ranked player in Florida. After his memorable 2022 junior season with Blountstown High School in Blountstown, Florida, Pride recorded 20 tackles and 2 interceptions, including a pick-six, and caught 22 passes for 667 yards and 6 TD as a receiver on offense.

In a brief scouting report from 247Sports’ Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins, Pride’s unique skillset is dripping with potential at the next level.

A bigger framed safety prospect with a multi-sport background that has impacted the game in all three phases on Friday nights. Excels at flowing downhill towards the football. Started prep career off at Blountstown where he faced a lower level of competition. Spent a few months at IMG Academy and got varsity snaps with the Ascenders before electing to return back home.

Former Aggie safety/nickel corner Antonio Johnson broke the mold of versatility as one of the best hybrid safeties to play for the Maroon and White in the last decade, and while Pride still has a ways to go to reach his full potential, he already possesses the tools and tangibles to make a similar impact at the collegiate level.

Alabama lands in top 6 for 2024 4-Star safety Jordan Pride

2024 safety Jordan Pride released his top-six schools on Sunday. He had the Tide listed as a finalist.

Safety Jordan Pride of the 2024 class released his top-six schools on Sunday and included Alabama as a finalist.

Pride plays for IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. In the past, Alabama has landed several elite prospects from IMG Academy. JC Latham, Tyler Booker, Ja’Corey Brooks, and Jihaad Campbell each played for the Ascenders and are currently at Alabama.

With Pride transferring there from his former high school, Blountstown High School, he will be able to compete against some of the best high school recruits in the country.

One way that the Alabama coaches like to evaluate is by assessing how recruiting targets stack up against the elite competition.

Pride will be no stranger to the competition as the entire state of Florida produces an abundance of talent each and every year. Pride has the ability to play as a cornerback or safety. It will be interesting to see which one he plays as a senior.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down Jordan Pride’s recruiting profile.

Tennessee makes top-six for former Florida State commit

2024 4-star Safety Jordan Pride set to visit Texas A&M this weekend

Texas A&M is set to host 2024 4-star safety Jordan Pride this coming weekend, as the Florida native is nearing a decision

Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher is dipping back into the Florida recruiting market, knowing the area very well as the former head coach at Florida State. As the focus remains on the 2024 recruiting cycle, shoring up the defensive backfield is an absolute must as multiple starters will depart after the 2023 season, especially at the safety position.

One prospect that has continued to stand out for the Maroon and White is 2024 four-star safety Jordan Pride, who according to 247Sports is ranked as the 6th safety in the class and the 18th-ranked player in Florida. After his impressive 2022 junior season with Blountstown High School in Blountstown, Florida, Pride recorded 20 tackles and 2 interceptions, including a pick-six, and caught 22 passes for 667 yards and 6 TD as a receiver on offense.

Pride is as versatile as they come, also competing in Basketball, Baseball, and Track in the football offseason, a trait that Fisher looks for in a prospect and nearly every position. After taking unofficial visits to both Florida and Florida State in the past two months, Pride will reportedly head to College Station this coming weekend.

Seen as more of a box safety in his current stage of development, Pride’s 6-2, 175-pound frame and length have aided him in the passing game to eliminate throwing windows on a consistent basis. Once entering a collegiate program, Pride will only get stronger and faster at the position, surely making him a priority recruit for the Aggies moving forward.

Gators earn crystal ball predictions for recent FSU decommit

The Gators are pushing hard for four-star safety Jordan Pride after his commitment from FSU, and recruiting experts think UF has a good chance to land him.

In a delightful turn of events for Gators fans, the University of Florida has emerged as the new favorite to land four-star safety [autotag]Jordan Pride[/autotag], who backed off his commitment to Florida State University Wednesday night.

Swamp247 recruiting expert and Florida insider Blake Alderman submitted a crystal prediction in favor of the Gators for Pride Thursday morning and was quickly followed by two more from ‘Noles insiders. All three predictions came in with a confidence grade of six out of 10.

Florida’s position coaches have made the difference for Pride, according to Alderman. Pride says he knows the assistant coaches in Gainesville much better than he does the ones in Tallahassee, and that’s even after the departure of former defensive coordinator/safeties coach Patrick Toney.

Pride got to meet UF’s new defensive coordinator, Austin Armstrong, during his most recent trip to the Swamp, and he’s getting closer with Corey Raymond, who is coaching all defensive backs this season. He’ll be on campus for the spring game, and Alderman says it’s worth putting Pride on “commitment watch” at this point.

Adding Pride to the class of 2024 would be huge for the Gators, who already have a trio of top 50 recruits under commitment. Pride is ranked No. 88 overall on the 247Sports composite and is No. 6 among safeties in the class. He’d abe a strong addition to a secondary class that has just one player under commitment, three-star Berrien (Nashville, Georgia) safety [autotag]Josiah Davis[/autotag].

On3’s recruiting prediction machine agrees with 247sports, giving the Gators 91.5% odds to land Pride.
