Philadelphia wide receiver Jalil Hall announces a June decision date with Rutgers football in the mix

Jalil Hall is down to five schools with a commitment coming in June.

Jalil Hall is down to five schools with a commitment date coming in mid-April. Rutgers football is among the programs in the mix for Hall.

On Saturday, Hall posted on social media that he will be making his college commitment on June 29. Rutgers is one of five programs that Hall will consider.

A 6-foot-4, 185-pound wide receiver from Monsignor Bonner (Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania), Hall is one of the top offensive playmakers in the region.

He is a three-star recruit who is the No. 69 wide receiver in the nation according to 247Sports. In Pennsylvania, he is the No. 16 player in this class.

The five schools that Hall will make his decision from at Syracuse, West Virginia, Rutgers, Maryland and Duke.

Hall was offered by Rutgers last June following a workout on campus. The offer came directly in a meeting with head coach Greg Schiano.

“I sat down in coach Schiano’s office with my family and he told how me (that) he loved (the 40 time). He said what he would like to see from me and I delivered that to him,” Hall said last June in an interview with Rutgers Wire.

“He also said that that moment right there showed him what type of person I am and why he could see me being in his program as an elite player.

“It felt great. I’m excited and thankful for the opportunity.”

Hall also holds offers from programs such as James Madison, Nebraska, Temple and Virginia Tech among others.

Four-star Jaelyne Matthews is visiting Rutgers football on Saturday

Jaelyne Matthews is visiting Rutgers football on Saturday.

Jaelyne Matthews will be on an unofficial visit to Rutgers football this weekend.

A four-star recruit, Matthews is one of the top players in New Jersey in the 2025 class. His first offer came in as a freshman from Rutgers.

He attends Toms Rover North (Toms River, New Jersey) where he also plays lacrosse.

Selected to play in the Under Armour All-America Game, Matthews is a top-10 offensive tackle in the nation in the 247Sports Composite where he is also the No. 108 overall recruit nationally.

Matthews is a national recruit, with offers that include Baylor, Florida State, Kentucky, Maryland, Miami and South Carolina among others.

Matthews posted about the Saturday visit to Rutgers on his social media.

In late February, Matthews talked with Rutgers Wire about where things stand with Rutgers:

“We’re still booking a midweek visit for them, trying to figure it out. The recruiting process it’s a little difficult sometimes. The weekends, they only give you four weekends really to go on official visits because of the dead periods and I have prom one of the weekends, so I couldn’t really go that weekend and I changed it a little bit because of that,” Matthews told Rutgers Wire.

“So I only have three weekends for official visits so I’m trying to figure out when for Rutgers to book my first visit – probably during the week. I would love to be able to play at that school and be the hometown hero in New Jersey.

“To put Rutgers on the map, nationally. They definitely got a lot of national attention when they were in the game with Ohio State and then in the bowl game they beat Miami. They havc changed a lot since Greg Schiano has gotten there. He’s changed the program for the better and I’m happy for the team.”

Film Review: Rutgers football recruit Renick Dorilas brings strong coverage ability to Don Bosco Prep

Film review: Rutgers offered three-star 2025 recruit Renick Dorilas as he prepares to play in his final high school football season.

Last week, Renick Dorilas announced that he will be transferring to Don Bosco Prep for his senior season of high school football. Dorilas is a longtime Rutger football offeree and one of the top players in New Jersey.

Dorilas has been on campus multiple times and attended several Rutgers football games last year. A defensive back in the class of 2025, he announced last week that he is transferring from Union (Union, New Jersey) to Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, New Jersey)

The 5-foot-11, 150-pound cornerback has Rutgers, Tennessee, Penn State, West Virginia, and Syracuse in his top five schools he is interested in attending in 2025. According to 247Sports, Dorilas is the No. 21 prospect in New Jersey and the No. 70 ranked cornerback nationally in the 2025 recruiting class.

[lawrence-related id=36750]

Film Review

As a junior at Union in 2023, Dorilas had 40 tackles with two tackles for a loss. Also, he logged two interceptions and four pass breakups for Union.

Breaking down Dorilas’s Hudl film, you can see the 2025 prospect shined while playing multiple pass coverages. He can play off-zone and press-man coverage, locking down the opponent’s number-one wide receiver at the cornerback position.

Dorilas has excellent hands and great ball skills, forcing multiple interceptions for his defense. Also, Dorilas offers a ton of speed in the secondary, catching defenders in the open field.

Outside of playing pass coverage, Dorilas is excellent at defending the run. He is a sure tackler who maintains outside leverage, playing gap discipline.

As Dorilas develops to the Power Five level, his physicality would need to improve while playing press coverage, making it difficult for opposing wide receivers. Also, he would need to get stronger and increase his size as he gets set for the collegiate level.

Rutgers football is doing A-OK with N’Kye Wynn after an offer this week: ‘Couldn’t stop smiling’

N’Kye Wynn talks about his recent Rutgers football offer.

N’Kye Wynn was offered by Rutgers football this week and already, the Big Ten program is doing well with the offensive lineman from Michigan.

Michigan has increasingly become a focal point for Rutgers football recruiting in recent years. In the 2024 cycle, Rutgers landed three-star linebacker [autotag]Montele Johnson[/autotag] and three-star tight end [autotag]Monte Keener[/autotag].

In addition, four-star running back [autotag]Gabriel Winowich[/autotag] transferred from Detroit Country Day School (Beverly Hills, Michigan) to New Jersey for his senior season.

Now, back to Wynn.

His offer from Rutgers came during a video call with head coach [autotag]Greg Schiano[/autotag].

“I got on a call with coach Schiano. We talked a little bit about my life and what I do on and off the field. But he gave me chills because of how passionate he is about family, character and football,” Wynn told Rutgers Wire this week.

“Then once we got to know each other, he offered me. I was very excited and happy, I was smiling from ear-to-ear and couldn’t stop smiling. I don’t have a visit with those guys set yet but me on the lookout.”

It has been a process for Wynn to get to know Rutgers, but the relationship is one that seems to be developing.

“They wanted to get me there for a gameday visit. I think Rutgers has an amazing program. They are a top 25 school for academics – that’s big for me, very important.

“I’ve been talking with coach Hux (quality control assistant Jordan Huxtable) a lot, that’s my guy. We talk a lot about the family and culture that Rutgers has,

“They go by FTC (Faith, Trust, CHOP) which is very inspirational once you know the meaning but it’s also a way of life.”

Rutgers football offers ’27 Anthony Cartwright

Anthony Cartwright gets offered by Rutgers football.

Rutgers football became the latest program to officially get involved in with sophomore tight end Anthony Cartwright from Michigan. The Big Ten program offered Cartwright on Thursday.

He is a class of 2027 recruit from Detroit Country Day School (Beverly Hills, Michigan). The offer from Rutgers is the latest in a recruitment that is certainly blowing up.

Cartwright’s offer list is already impressive and makes him a national recruit. The 6-foot-4, 198-pound tight end has been extended by Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan and Michigan State among others.

He also plays basketball for Detroit Country Day.

On Thursday evening, Cartwright posted about the offer from Rutgers, tagging head coach Greg Schiano and tight ends coach Scott Vallone:

Vallone was recently promoted to tight ends coach after serving Rutgers as the offensive line assistant the past two years.

A multi-year starter at Rutgers, Vallone went on and played in the NFL for three teams before transitioning into coaching.

Rutgers has had success in recruiting Detroit Country Day in recent years. [autotag]Gabriel Winowich[/autotag], a four-star running back and part of the 2024 recruiting class for Rutgers, played his first three seasons of high school football at Detroit Country Day.

At the time of his commitment last year, Winowich was matriculated in the school. He transferred over the summer to play his senior season at Notre Dame Prep (Lawrenceville, New Jersey).

Anderson also was credited with an interception and two fumbles recovered.

He holds offers from Duke, Syracuse and West Virginia already. With a move up a year, Anderson could see a spike in his recruitment in the coming weeks.

A strong athlete, Anderson played as a forward for The First Academy on the boys basketball team, where he averaged 10.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.

On Friday, he posted to social media about his re-classification.

Woody Celucien is locked in for a Rutgers football official visit, praises relationship with coach Pat Flaherty

Woody Celucien is enjoying his relationship with Rutgers football.

Woody Celucien is set to take an official visit to Rutgers this summer. It is the only one that the Florida offensive lineman has firmed up to this point.

On Thursday, Celucien confirmed on social media that he is visiting Rutgers from June 7-9.  He is a three-star offensive lineman according to On3, who rank him as the No. 92 interior offensive lineman in the nation.

Celucien holds other Power Five offers from Boston College and West Virginia. He also has been offered by Eastern Kentucky, Florida Atlantic, Toledo, UMass and Western Michigan among others.

One of the reasons why Rutgers is trending so well with Celucien is the relationship that is being formed with the coaching staff. Celucien said that head coach Greg Schiano, safeties coach Drew Lascari and offensive line coach Pat Flaherty are “building a good connection.”

Flaherty, in particular, is standing out to Celucien.

“He’s been at all the high levels, his workouts are serious – I want to work out with him,” Celucien told Rutgers Wire.

“And off the field stuff – he’s a really good person who talks about family. And (he) tells me about to become a better man.”

Flaherty has spent two decades in the NFL as an offensive line coach, most notably with the New York Giants where he won two Super Bowls. He joined Rutgers last offseason and made huge strides with the program.

Toldeo and FAU are also in the mix for official visits he tells RutgersWire. He is a 6-foot-5, 300-pound guard prospect who plays for Lety High School (Naples, Florida).

[lawrence-related id=35910]

The phone conversations with coach Flaherty aren’t frequent, but Celucien said that doesn’t matter to him.

“When we do, it’s a great conversation,” Celucien said.

Rutgers football commit Talibi Kaba is a four-star recruit

Talibi Kaba talks about becoming a four-star recruit this week.

Talibi Kaba is now a four-star, the Rutgers football commit and standout linebacker from New Jersey seeing a significant rise in the recruiting rankings on Wednesday.

A linebacker at Hillside (Hillside, New Jersey), Kaba is now one of the top players in New Jersey. He committed to Rutgers in early February.

With the bump by 247Sports, Kaba is now the No. 165 recruit in the nation. One month ago on Feb. 6, he was an unranked player.

Now he is 247Sports’ fifth-best player in New Jersey.the No. 20 linebacker in the nation.

Kaba is a quick and fluid linebacker who covers a lot of ground. He has the ability to change direction quickly but is also very solid in run support.

“I got a notification on Twitter and I open it and I saw it says I’m a four-star,” Kaba told Rutgers Wire.

“I was excited because it was out of nowhere. I was happy all the hard work and dedication paid off.”

Kaba’s commitment last month marked the first player from New Jersey to become a part of the 2025 recruiting class. He was joined days later by three-star offensive lineman [autotag]Jayden Elijah[/autotag], an offensive lineman from Matawan (Matawan, New Jersey).

[lawrence-related id=35999,35970]

The first player to commit to Rutgers in this recruiting cycle is Florida quarterback[autotag] Sean Ashenfelder.[/autotag]

Since his bump on Wednesday, Kaba said no new schools have reached out to him. He has locked in some visits though – all to Rutgers.

“I’m going to a Rutgers spring practice and I have an official visit (in) May at Rutgers,” Kaba said.

Kaba said he will not be taking any visits to any other schools.

Rutgers football recruiting: Wisconsin linebacker Jack Wilson set to camp this summer

Jack Wilson talks about his plans to camp at Rutgers football this summer.

Jack Wilson was invited to a Rutgers football camp this June, the Wisconsin athlete just recently getting on the radar of the Big Ten program.

Wilson is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound athlete who plays for Mt. Horeb (Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin). A class of 2026 prospect, he lines up as a linebacker and at running back.

In the 2024 recruiting class, Rutgers landed Wisconsin offensive tackle [autotag]Carter Kadow[/autotag]. Ranked the No. 13 player in the state, Kadow also held a Power Five offer from Indiana as well as several Ivy League programs.

Rutgers has recently reached out, asking Wilson to fill out a questionnaire. This week, he got an invite to camp this summer.

“I am planning on being at camp on June 16,” Wilson told Rutgers Wire.

“I will also be attending the Wisconsin Badgers camp on June 19.”

The contact from Rutgers is still new but Wilson is learning about the program. He has a positive impression of the program’s direction under head coach [autotag]Greg Schiano[/autotag].

[lawrence-related id=35948,35933]

“I love their aggression on the defensive side of the ball and I definitely think they are on the rise in the Big Ten,” Wilson said.

“They are also a great developmental program and coach Schiano is doing a great job.”

As for his upcoming visits, Wilson is mapping them out. At least one other Big Ten program will likely join Rutgers and Wisconsin as camp visits this summer for Wilson.

[lawrence-related id=35930]

“I haven’t finalized my camp schedule for the summer yet but those two are for sure,” Wilson said about Rutgers and Wisconsin camps.

“Also looking at possibly getting up to Minnesota. I’m also planning on going to Central Michigan in a few weeks to get to a spring practice.”

After a February offer, Braxton Kyle is in the process of learning about Rutgers football, planning a visit

Braxton Kyle talks about his recent offer from Rutgers football.

Braxton Kyle was offered by Rutgers football two weeks ago, with the standout defensive lineman from Georgia now planning on a spring visit to the Big Ten program.

An interior defensive lineman, the last two seasons for North Gwinnett High School (Suwanee, Georgia) Kyle has 75 total tackles and 13 sacks in 22 games. He is a very solid 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds.

The Rutgers offer was the first from a Power Five school for Kyle, who also holds offers from Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina and Kent State among others.

Last week, Kyle broke down his offer from Rutgers. Admittedly, the defensive lineman from the heart of ACC and SEC country didn’t know a lot about Rutgers at the time.

“I don’t know a lot about them but I know they had a running back in the NFL, Isiah Pacheco, who won his second Super Bowl. That’s really all I knew going into that,” Kyle told Rutgers Wire.

“They first got to know me, they (defensive ends coach Julian Campenni) came to our school, and watched us lift. They started to talk to me, said they liked the way I worked out.”

For Kyle, it was his first Power Five offer, providing a sense of validation for his hard work.

[lawrence-related id=35854,35821]

“It was really unexpected. I wasn’t thinking about getting a Power Five offer so early,” Kyle said

“I really did appreciate it. All the work, I’ve been doing is paying off.”

The relationship with Rutgers is one that extends beyond the football field to culture, the recruit said. Part of the pitch from the coaching staff he said was about what he brings to the table off the field.

[lawrence-related id=35809,35774]

“They said they wanted me because they think I’ll be a good fit for the d-line, they really just said I’d be a good fit for their d-line. And F.A.M.I.L.Y., Trust, CHOP – they told me about that and I said that I could do that for them,” Kyle said. “Then they gave me the offer.”

Kyle’s mother is a teacher and she keeps him locked in academically. The school side of being a student-athlete is important to him and a key part of this process.

[lawrence-related id=35864,35849]

He is hoping to visit North Carolina and Vanderbilt this spring, with Kyle saying a visit to Rutgers is something he is planning with his family as well.

“I just really want to see around the campus, see how it is,” Kyle said.

“See the community, see how the people are.”
