Cardinals bring in 5 players for tryout, including QB Cole McDonald

Four of the five players have previously had workouts with the Cardinals.

The league transaction report on Monday showed the Arizona Cardinals brought in speedy receiver Marcus Green for a tryout. He wasn’t the only player they brought in on Monday. According to Tuesday’s transaction report, the Cardinals also brought in five other players on Monday, including four players who have had previous workouts with the team.

Because of league COVID-19 testing protocols, the most likely scenario for these players is a practice squad signing if the Cardinals make the playoffs or simply signing a futures deal for next year as teams can begin to add currently unsigned players to the offseason roster starting next week.

Below are those players.

Cardinals sign TE to practice squad, hold tryouts for 2 players, including former QB Khalil Tate

Tate was a quarterback in college for the University of Arizona. He is converting to wide receiver.

The Arizona Cardinals made a minor move on the practice squad on Wednesday and needed it, as neither Maxx Williams nor Darrell Daniels was able to practice. Williams was ill and Daniels has an ankle injury.

They also held tryouts for two players, including one local sports fans will recognize from his college days.

The Eagles just announced that they are waiving former Arizona quarterback and undrafted free agent wide receiver, Khalil Tate.

Last season, Tate threw for 1,954 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, while rushing for 413 yards and three touchdowns for Kevin Sumlin’s 4-8 Wildcats.

Philadelphia Eagles 2020 UDFA class graded one of the NFL’s strongest

Philadelphia Eagles 2020 UDFA class graded one of the NFL’s strongest

The Philadelphia Eagles found a few gems in the undrafted free agent process and Rotoworld’s Thor Nystrom believes Howie Roseman put together one of the NFL’s strongest classes.

Using a system that places a 1-10 point value on each team’s UDFA, Nystrom based 90-percent of each team’s ranking on the average of its top-five UDFA signings.

Thanks to some big names at running back and on the offensive line, the Eagles classes ranked fifth in the NFL.

The Eagles landed behind the Browns, Saints, Chiefs, and Cowboys.

The Eagles graded out well in my system by combining high-quality signings with a bunch of calculated dart-throws, including the signing of former Arizona dual-threat quarterback Khalil Tate to give a receiver transition a spin in camp.

The headliners are Cincy RB Michael Warren, Michigan State DL Raequan Williams, Montana LB Dante Olson and Baylor DB Grayland Arnold, all borderline draftable guys. Warren runs like a sock of rocks but has cement shoes… it’ll be interesting to see if he can carve out a Fat Robb career. I like Raequan’s shot of sticking around. He doesn’t rush the passer, but he’s long, he’s versatile, and he brings his lunch pail against the run. Feels like a long-term swing backup type.

The Eagles have had prior success with undrafted free agents and during the 2019 offseason, T.J. Edwards signed with the team and after a productive rookie season, he’s pegged to be a likely starter at middle linebacker this season.

The Philadelphia Eagles added another terrific athlete to the roster, signing former Arizona quarterback Khalil Tate to an undrafted free agent deal.

Immediately after the signing, the Eagles added Tate to the ever-growing list of speedy skill players, switching his position to wide receiver.

Last season, Tate threw for 1,954 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, while rushing for 413 yards and three touchdowns for Kevin Sumlin’s 4-8 Wildcats.

The Philadelphia Eagles are turning into a quarterback factory and the NFC East champions just added another signal-caller to the roster, signing former Arizona star quarterback Khalil Tate to an undrafted free agent deal.

Tate with all his athletic abilities and talent, was inconsistent at Arizona.

Last season, Tate threw for 1,954 yards, 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, while rushing for 413 yards and three touchdowns for Kevin Sumlin’s 4-8 Wildcats.

Tate shined as a sophomore in 2017 with 1,591 yards, 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions, while also rushing for 1,411 yards and 12 touchdowns on 153 rushing attempts.

Tate’s best season as a passer came in 2018 when he threw for 2,530 yards, 26 touchdowns and eight picks.

PODCAST: Full Bills’ mock draft, post-free agency edition

Kyle Silagyi is joined by Justin DiLoro and McKenna Middlebrook to construct a seven-round 2020 mock draft for the Buffalo Bills.

The Buffalo Bills were aggressive in improving its roster to start the 2020 NFL offseason, acquiring wide receiver Stefon Diggs from the Minnesota Vikings before adding eight players through free agency.

The Bills are now left with a roster that lacks any glaring holes. Though there are areas in which the team could improve, Buffalo appears to currently possess something it hasn’t since the early 1990s – a Super Bowl-caliber roster.

Though the team’s roster is already stout, the Bills could strengthen its fortunes with a strong 2020 draft. On this episode of The Kyle Silagyi Variety Hour, host Kyle Silagyi is joined by BillsWire staff writers Justin DiLoro and McKenna Middlebrook to construct a seven-round post-free agency mock draft for Buffalo.
