Seahawks 53-man roster tracker: Leonard Williams in, Cody Thompson out

Here’s the updated 53-man roster by jersey number going into tomorrow’s game against the Cleveland Browns.

The Seahawks are serious about making a deep postseason run this year. Just hours after their home win over the Browns, Seattle pulled off a trade that should help them get there. The front office has sent a 2024 second-round pick and a 2025 fifth-rounder to the Giants in exchange for Leonard Williams, one of the top interior pass rushers in the league.

To make room for Wiliams, the Seahawks have waived wide receiver Cody Thompson. Our roster tracker is now updated (Oct. 31).

Seahawks Injury Report: Two star players are questionable vs. Browns

How does the Seahawks look health wise going into Sunday’s matchup

The Cleveland Browns 2023 season marches on as the road trip continues in Seattle against the Seahawks. The Browns will be without Deshaun Watson again as P.J. Walker and the offense try to solve their passing attack. It’ll be easier to get some solutions this week if the Seahawks safety Jamal Adams misses this game as he and wide receiver Tyler Lockett are both questionable.

Adams and Lockett are both on the injury report against the Browns. Running back Kenny Mcintosh and defensive tackle Austin Faoliu have already been ruled out with guard Phil Haynes being listed as doubtful.

Missing Tyler Lockett could be huge for the Browns because when he is out there it creates an interesting and talented trio of wide receivers. Either way, if either Lockett or Adams misses the game it would be a big loss let alone if they were both out. Cleveland is looking to get to 5-2 to start the season as the team waits for their franchise quarterback to return.

Seahawks Week 1 injury report: 2 players ruled out

Happy first Blue Friday of the year, 12’s!

Happy first Blue Friday of the year, 12’s! With the NFL officially kicking off last night in Kansas City, we are merely hours away from Seahawks football being back. Seattle will start their 2023 campaign at Lumen Field like they did last year.

Fortunately for the Seahawks, Friday’s injury report looks a lot better than it did on Thursday. The good news is a few key starters do not have game time designations. Running back Kenneth Walker III appeared on the list in limited action at practice, but is set to be fine for the game. Rookie receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been a full participant and is in a similar boat as Walker.

Unfortunately, we’re at the part of the season when players are now being officially ruled out.

Kenny McIntosh poised to impress the Seattle Seahawks

Injuries to Seattle running backs have presented an opportunity to former Georgia running back Kenny McIntosh

The Seattle Seahawks got a steal in the 2023 NFL draft with former Georgia Bulldogs running back Kenny McIntosh. Seattle was shocked to see McIntosh on the draft board in the seventh round.

Seattle, which had already drafted a top running back in 2022 and 2023, decided McIntosh was too good to pass up. Now, the Seahawks are pretty glad they drafted McIntosh.

McIntosh is stepping up in training camp for Seattle. The Seahawks are presently without star running backs Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet. McIntosh is getting an opportunity to get more reps in practice than he normally would.

The former Georgia standout is making the most of his carries in practice. Here’s a look at a few of his better runs from training camp:

McIntosh brings excellent receiving skills to Seattle. He caught 43 passes for 504 yards and two touchdowns during his final season at Georgia. McIntosh’s versatility played in key role in Georgia’s back-to-back national championship victories.

McIntosh could see a lot of looks on passing downs during the regular season. He’s not your average seventh round pick.

Eagles planning RB-by-committee approach to replacing Miles Sanders

Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni says he’s “OK with having a committee of running backs”, and says the #Eagles will roll with whatever is working

The Eagles’ 2023 NFL offseason is almost complete, and as the Birds return for training camp, they’ll look entirely different on defense, while adding explosive players to the running back position.

Philadelphia signed former Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny to replace Miles Sanders, and the hope was that he could help decrease some of Hurts’ designed runs.

They added more explosiveness at the position, trading for former Lions running back D’Andre Swift.

As the team returns to the NovaCare Complex for training camp, head coach Nick Sirianni is fine with ” a committee approach”, as well as one of the three talented players become the top dawg.

“I’m OK having a committee, I’m OK with one guy getting the carries, too,” he said in a recent interview via NBC Sports Philadelphia. “I really am. Whatever’s working, whatever’s going (well).

“We’ll say at times we’re going to go here and then a guy gets hot and we’ll roll with him. For example, Kenny in the playoffs a little bit last year. He got more touches than he had gotten because he was running it really well.

“I’m content with whatever’s working and playing the best guys. I love the depth that we have to be able to rotate guys and keep guys fresh. I like when you have a guy that can do all of it, I like when you have a guy that you can segment it. There’s so many different ways to do it.”

With report day set for Tuesday morning, here’s a look at the Eagles committee of running backs and the best and worst case scenarios for the arrangement.

Ken Walker gets honorable mention in ESPN’s RB rankings for 2023

Walker showed a ton of promise in his rookie year and he’s getting some due recognition.

The Seahawks have one of the best backfields in the NFL this year. Rookies Kenny McIntosh (Georgia) and Zach Charbonnet (UCLA) will join veterans DeeJay Dallas and Ken Walker, who’s No. 1 on the depth chart now that Rashaad Penny is playing for the Eagles.

While he has plenty of room to improve, Walker showed a ton of promise in his rookie year and he’s getting some due recognition. In ESPN’s top 10 running back rankings for the 2023 season Walker missed the cut but he did get an honorable mention.

“His 4.2 rush efficiency rating tied Najee Harris for the league high. “He’s like a good mix of everything,” a high-ranking NFL personnel official said. “He probably has the least power of the three [rookies from 2022, with Hall and Pierce], but he’s quick, good balance, strong lower body, always goes forward. He’s like an unassuming 120-yard rusher.”

ESPN’s full top 10 at the position is as follows:

  1. Nick Chubb – Cleveland Browns
  2. Christian McCaffrey – San Francisco 49ers
  3. Josh Jacobs – Las Vegas Raiders
  4. Saquon Barkley – New York Giants
  5. Derrick Henry – Tennessee Titans
  6. Jonathan Taylor – Indianapolis Colts
  7. Alvin Kamara – New Orleans Saints
  8. Dalvin Cook – Free agent
  9. Tony Pollard – Dallas Cowboys
  10. Austin Ekeler – Los Angeles Chargers

Aaron Jones is a snub here, but overall this is not too far off from our own top-10 RB rankings. The big exception is Falcons rookie Bijan Robinson, who were are going out on a limb for (very brave) by projecting he’ll be a top-five back in his first season.
