The Georgia Bulldogs have added another class of 2023 commitment. The Bulldogs just landed a verbal commitment from five-star cornerback AJ Harris.

Now, kicker Peyton Woodring has committed to Georgia. Woodring plays high school football for Ascension Episcopal in Lafayette, Louisiana.

The 5-foot-10, 165-pound kicker is an unranked recruit (247Sports only has one kicker that is ranked), but is considered one of the top kickers in the class of 2023. Peyton Woodring has gone on recent visits to Ohio State, Florida State, Georgia, and Vanderbilt.

The Ascension Episcopal kicker has offers from Alabama, Air Force, Louisiana, and more. Woodring hit a 56-yard field goal this past season.

Georgia’s current starting kicker, Jack Podlesny, is a senior, but has one more year of eligibility beyond 2022. The Bulldogs additionally have another young, talented kicker in redshirt sophomore Jared Zirkel.

Woodring would likely compete with Zirkel for the starting role if Podlesny does not return in 2023. Woodring has a big leg and is capable of handling kickoff duties at the next level.

HALFTIME REPORT: Alabama leads Georgia 9-6 at the half

After a flurry of field goal attempts by each team, Alabama leads the Georgia Bulldogs 9-6 at the half.

Alabama placekicker Will Reichard connected on all three of his field-goal attempts. Georgia’s Jack Podlesny connected on both of his field-goal attempts as well.

Bryce Young finished the first half 15-26 for 206 yards. Star Tide wide receiver went down after a 40-yard reception with an apparent knee injury that will likely sideline him for the remainder of the contest.

Stetson Bennett was 11-17 for 127 yards. The lone big play for the Bulldogs was when Bennett connected with George Pickens for a 52-yard pickup.

The Georgia Bulldogs have awarded scholarships to a key pair of walk-ons this offseason. It is refreshing to see Kirby Smart and Georgia reward one of their own in a day and age where there are so many potential transfers and coaches are signing as many recruits as possible.

Georgia football coach Kirby Smart has shared that he put a couple of deserving Dawgs on scholarship after the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. Here’s who he rewarded for their efforts to the Georgia football program:

Georgia Bulldogs kicker Brooks Buce enter the NCAA transfer portal early this offseason and is transferring to the Troy Trojans

Georgia Bulldogs kicker Brooks Buce entered into the NCAA’s transfer portal in Jan. 2021. Now, Buce is transferring to the Troy Trojans football program.

Buce played high school football at Greater Atlanta Christian before coming to the University of Georgia. Buce walked on at UGA in 2017. He has been the back-up kicker since 2018.

Buce is in the portal as a junior and will be immediately eligible to play at Troy. Buce will look for more playing time at Troy. Freshman Scott Taylor Renfroe will be Buce’s primary competition for the starting kicker role.

Georgia starting kicker Jack Podlesny is coming off a good season. He went 13-of-16 on field goals, including a 53-yard game-winning kick against Cincinnati in the Peach Bowl.

Buce has attempted six kickoffs in his career with five of them resulting in touchbacks.

Georgia Bulldogs kicker Brooks Buce is entering into the NCAA’s transfer portal. He played high school football at Greater Atlanta Christian before coming to the University of Georgia. Buce walked on at UGA in 2017. He’s been the back-up kicker from 2018-2020.

Georgia football kicker Jack Podlesny wins the Peach Bowl. Who is he?

Georgia football kicker Jack Podlesny hits game-winning field goal against Cincinnati to win the 2021 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

Jack Podlesny hit a 53-yard field goal with two seconds left in the 2021 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl to give the Georgia Bulldogs a 22-21 lead over the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Georgia would go on to sack the Bearcats in the end zone, making for a safety and final score of 24-21.

This was Podlesny’s career long field goal make and his first career game-winning field goal. Needless to say, Hot Pod has ice in his veins.

Prior to the Peach Bowl, Podlesny went 10 for 13 on field goals, 37 for 37 on PATs, and 12 of 21 kickoffs have resulted in touchback.

Podlesny, a redshirt sophomore from St. Simons Island (Glynn Academy) was semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, which goes annually to the nation’s top collegiate placekicker.

He made 90% of his field goals as a senior in high school and has a powerful leg that helped him record fifty-five touchbacks on kickoffs. He additionally played soccer in high school.

Podlesny walked on to the team in 2018 and redshirted.

Last season, he made a big 38 yard kick in the G-Day scrimmage to help the black team win with over a minute to play. Podlesny is yet to see regular season action. He’ll compete with Jared Zirkel, Brooks Buce and more to fill Rodrigo Blankenship’s role next season.

In a wild rollercoaster of a game, Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs get yet another major bowl game victory on New Years Day.  What a way to start the new year for the Dawgs.

Georgia wrecked Cincinnati’s dreams of an undefeated season when Jack Poledsny drilled a 53-yard field goal with two seconds left Thursday in the Peach Bowl.

The Bulldogs added a safety on the last play of the game to make the final 24-21.

The Bulldogs trailed 21-10 entering the final quarter and rallied, eventually setting up the long field goal.

The last time Georgia won a game while trailing by 10 or more in the fourth quarter was 2013 against Georgia Tech.

Folks, I like what I’m seeing early, if the Bulldogs can keep hanging in on defense as much as possible hopefully the offensive line can wear this Tide defense out some and help create points.

UGA vs Auburn: Podlesny’s field goal is good after long drive by Georgia offense

Georgia increased its lead to 27-6 over Auburn with a 25 yard field goal by Jack Podlesny. Details here

Georgia needed to give their defense some rest after another scoring drive by the Auburn offense made the score 24-6, Georgia.

The Bulldogs took the ball from their own 25 and capped off the drive with a 25 yard field goal by sophomore kicker Jack Podlesny.

Here’s a 21 yard pass from Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett to receiver Kearis Jackson that helped set up the score:

The Bulldogs currently lead Auburn 27-6, with three minutes remaining in the third quarter.
