Could the Texas Longhorns be eyeing another transfer wideout?

After securing Tarik Black from Michigan earlier this year, the Texas Longhorns could have their eyes on Alabama’s Tyrell Shavers.

Earlier this year, the Texas Longhorns and head coach Tom Herman added a wide receiver to a very young group. Tarik Black made his way from Michigan to the Forty Acres via the transfer portal and the Longhorns could find themselves in the same situation again. According to Mike Roach of 247Sports Texas could look to add Tyrell Shavers of Alabama.

According to the report Shavers has interest from TCU, Mississippi State, Central Florida as well as the Longhorns. Shavers is coming from a program that has put a ton of talent at the position in the NFL. This past year Henry Ruggs II and Jerry Jeudy both were drafted inside of the top 20. This next year could be the same with Jaylon Waddle and Devonta Smith.

Shavers currently has two years of eligibility left and has only one catch for 20 yards in his collegiate career. Should he head to Austin, he could be in the mix to get plenty of playing time for a group that has a lot of question marks at the moment. The 6’6″ pass catcher would bring the size that Texas will be missing with Collin Johnson now in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Lewisville, Texas product could return to his home state where he was a four star prospect that was ranked the 12th receiver overall and 11th prospect in Texas during the 2017 recruiting cycle. Shavers already graduated from Alabama so he would be eligible to play immediately for the next two seasons.

With little production for the Crimson Tide, he is unproven. With a former NFL receiver in Andre Coleman now on staff, one should expect that he could get the most out of him.

Michigan wide receiver Tarik Black heading to Austin

Michigan Wolverines’ wide receiver Tarik Black will transfer to the University of Texas.

Michigan wide receiver Tarik Black was a player that the Texas Longhorns were reportedly interested in. After losing Collin Johnson and Devin Duvernay there  were a lot of questions surrounding the group. Who would start and replace the production by this duo? Apparently Black could be one of those answers.

Tarik Black will be heading to Austin to continue his football playing career. Previously 247 had his transfer crystal ball at 100 percent to Boston College. Black only caught 25 passes for 323 yards and one score in 2019. Mostly a product of poor quarterback play. The former four-star recruit provides the Longhorns with a little more experience at the position.

WATCH: Ravens HC John Harbaugh fired up about Devin Duvernay

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has every right to be fired up about their new dangerous weapon on offense.

The Baltimore Ravens made it a priority to draft a speedy receiver that would provide another weapon in the passing game alongside Marquise Brown.

They got that and more with Texas wide receiver Devin Duvernay. The Ravens selected the new security blanket for quarterback Lamar Jackson in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Judging by his reaction, Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh knew just how big of a steal it was to land Duvernay with the No. 92 overall pick.

His passion and work ethic is unmatched. Although he’s known for his speedy, strong-handed style of play, his consistency may be one of his most impressive traits.

Duvernay never missed a single game throughout his four-year collegiate career. When you watch his tape, you most likely won’t recall him ever dropping a pass. According to Pro Football Focus, he has the lowest dropped pass percentage of any power-five receiver since 2018.

He will make an immediate impact in Baltimore. In terms of where he was drafted, Duvernay may turn out to be the best value pick of the entire draft.

It’s something to be fired up about.
