7 interior pass-rush prospects for Cowboys to get excited about in 2022 draft

There’s no top-10 talent this draft class, but that doesn’t mean the impact 3-tech is scarce in 2022. @TimLettiero finds a handful of hopefuls to add to the Cowboys’ pass rush.

Dallas has had inconsistent play from their interior defensive line play for a while now. This impact is felt from the 3-tech  position in even fronts or the 5-tech position in odd fronts where their main duties are to either gap control or get after the QB. Given the hybrid system of Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, this has the likes of DTs Neville Gallimore, Trysten Hill, Carlos Watkins, Osa Odighizuwa and DE DeMarcus Lawrence all play both roles effectively.

Although these players contributed a fair amount last season, Dallas still lacks a dominant force up the middle to get after the QB. This draft class may not have top-tier talent coming from the interior, but has plenty of guys who have heaps of talent and potential. Here are a few names to look out for when Dallas is on the clock each day of the 2022 NFL Draft.

10 hybrid defenders that could interest the Eagles in the 2022 NFL draft

10 hybrid defenders that could interest Jonathan Gannon and the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2022 NFL draft

The Eagles have an ever-evolving defensive scheme, and if Jonathan Gannon had it his way, he’d probably employ a 4-1-6 base defense with six defensive backs and one hybrid linebacker who can cover.

Philadelphia will look to increase pressure off the edge with the acquisition of Haason Reddick, and they’ll be quicker at linebacker after the addition of Kyzir White.

The days of three linebackers on the field are all but over and as the Eagles work to stop some of the NFL’s most explosive offenses, we’ve highlighted 10 hybrid defenders who can do it all.

Vikings 7-round mock draft 3.0: Za’Darius Smith signing changes things

A trade shakes things up early for the Vikings

We are two weeks into free agency and the landscape is becoming more and more clear. For the Vikings, they are being very calculated with their additions and cap maneuvering.

The latest of those is the signing of edge rusher Za’Darius Smith. In doing so, the Vikings have created one of the best edge rushing tandems in the league and now have more flexibility when it comes to the draft.

3-round mock draft for Broncos before the NFL combine

Draft Wire’s latest NFL mock draft has the Broncos going LB, DL, OLB, OT and RB in the first three rounds.

Before on-field workouts begin at the NFL combine later this week, Luke Easterling of Draft Wire released a new three-round mock draft.

In the first round, Easterling has the Denver Broncos selecting Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd with the ninth overall pick. It’s worth noting that Easterling’s mock was published before news broke that the Broncos hope to re-sign LB Josey Jewell before the start of NFL free agency.

In the second round, Easterling has Denver beefing up the defensive line with Texas A&M’s DeMarvin Leal (No. 40) before using a pick from the Von Miller trade (No. 64) to add a Miller replacement in Oklahoma’s Nik Bonitto.

In the third round of Easterling’s mock, the Broncos add a long-term solution at right tackle with Washington State’s Abraham Lucas (No. 75) and a Javonte Williams backfield partner in Michigan State’s Kenneth Walker III (No. 96).

Easterling’s mock seems to assume that Denver will address the QB situation outside the draft (perhaps via trade?), and drafting a running back in the third round would likely only happen if Melvin Gordon is not re-signed.

Perfect early/late-round edge rusher fit for Eagles in 2022 NFL draft

Perfect early/late-round edge rusher fits for #Philadelphia #Eagles in #NFLDraft2022

With the Super Bowl now in the rearview mirror and the 2022 offseason set to begin with fury, all 32 teams around the league are preparing for the NFL draft.

Philadelphia will have three first-round picks and four of the first 55 picks overall, setting the Eagles up for a monumental reload if Howie Roseman can land the talent needed to upgrade Jonathan Gannon’s defense.

The Eagles build from the inside out, and they prefer to stock the roster with talented pass rushers. The 2022 NFL draft class is stacked with pass-rushing defensive ends, defensive tackles, and jack of all trade pass-rushing outside linebackers.

The Birds will have the opportunity to land multiple edge rushers, and we’ve highlighted the perfect group of early/late-round fits.

Cowboys interior pressure fell off, could Demarvin Leal be the fix in 2022?

Tyler Browning ( @DiabeticTyler ) puts the once highly regarded Aggie interior defensive lineman under the microscope. Can he be fill a long void? Does he fit with the Cowboys?

There has been one need unanimously agreed upon among Cowboys fans, the need for improved trench play. The start of the draft prospect evaluations has focused on several names likely out of the Cowboys draft range, and a couple who should still be there around pick No. 24. This next player was a consensus first-round selection going into the season, but has since fallen out of a number of first-round mock drafts.

Texas A&M defensive lineman Demarvin Leal is a native Texan, hailing from San Antonio. Despite the draft community slightly souring on him, he was a 2021 AP All-American next to Georgia’s Jordan Davis. So what gives? Did his production decrease? Did his technique falter? Did he fail to improve? Did a scheme change hurt him? Here’s a closer look to find out.

Cleveland Browns seven round mock draft simulation reviewed 2.0

Our guy @JoshKeatley16 did two simulations, allowing the computer to pick for the Browns, and reviewed the selections. Here is the second:

It may be the end of the Cleveland Browns football season, but it is just the beginning of draft season and I love me some draft hype. We here at Browns Wire are trying to do our best to provide out reactions to the most popular mock drafts being published by some of our favorite pundits, but most of them just supply the first round or if we are lucky the first three rounds, but if you are like me, you need more.

Our friends at The Draft Network have a wonderful mock draft simulator tool and I was curious to see what they had the Browns select. This will be the second time we have run this exercise and it has surprisingly turned out some different results. Just like last time, the first slide will be The Draft Network (TDN) selection and the second will be my preference.

Browns mock draft watch: SB Nation gives Cleveland D-Line help

Browns mock draft watch: SB Nation gives Cleveland D-Line help #Browns

It is officially the start of NFL draft season and we now know that the Cleveland Browns are selecting 13th overall and this is high enough to land what should be a future star. The Browns are not bad, they are only one year removed from the playoffs, but it is pretty clear that they are not good enough and need a few effective pieces to complete the puzzle.

We have been doing a solid job in keeping you up to date with all the recent highly publicized mock drafts and the common theme for Cleveland in the first round is a wide receiver, but our friends at SB Nation went a different route.
