Cam Taylor-Britt crowned Bengals’ most-improved player

Cam Taylor-Britt gets some love as a breakout.

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt, who was already looking for ways to organize offseason workouts with teammates, is one of the key pieces of the franchise’s future.

It’s a good thing, then, CTB made a second-year leap, to the point Pro Football Focus writer Zoltán Buday named him the team’s most-improved player:

Taylor-Britt, after playing due to injury in 2022, was a Day 1 starter in the Bengals’ secondary in 2023. He played well despite missing time with an injury himself, allowing just a 67.6 passer rating, which ranked ninth among 135 cornerbacks.

While effectively serving as the team’s No. 1 corner ahead of schedule with Chidobe Awuzie injured, CTB picked off four passes and had 11 pass breakups.

An enforcer against the run, too, the quick ascent should have Bengals fans confident that an issue that plauges many teams — finding a legit, boundary No. 1 corner — is addressed for the long-term with CTB.

Cam Taylor-Britt already looking to organize offseason workouts with teammates

Cam Taylor-Britt steps into a leadership role for the Bengals.

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt has big plans for the offseason that he hopes translate to next season for his secondary.

Speaking at the season-ending round of interviews in Week 18, Cincinnati’s No. 1 cornerback of the future made it clear that he’s planning on stepping into that offseason leadership role.

How? As seen in footage captured by Fox 19’s Joe Danneman, he plans on rounding up the secondary for offseason workouts over the summer.

The defense ranked near the bottom of the NFL in allowances of explosive plays this season. And while a lackluster pass-rush made things harder on the secondary, swapping out two starting safeties and big shakeups to cornerback snap counts didn’t help.

This is both CTB taking a leadership role and probably doing a little extra to make sure everyone is on the same page next year:

Social media reacts to former Husker being snubbed from Pro Bowl

Social media is reacting after a former Husker defensive back was left off the Pro Bowl roster.

Social media is reacting after Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt, a former Husker defensive back, was left off the Pro Bowl roster for the AFC squad.

In 11 games this season, Taylor-Britt recorded 48 tackles with one forced fumble and four interceptions. He returned one of those picks for his first career regular-season touchdown.

The Montgomery, Alabama, native played for Nebraska from 2018-21, appearing in 40 games and making 30 starts. He made 140 tackles in his career, 10 for loss and 2.5 sacks. He added five interceptions.

Taylor-Britt was a high school quarterback and had hoped to play college football at Auburn but was never offered a scholarship. He chose Nebraska over Michigan, Mississippi State and Missouri.

The converted defensive back was a two-time second-team All-Big Ten member in 2020 and 2021. He was selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.

The NFL Pro Bowl will be held Feb. 4, 2024, at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. Find social media reaction to the Pro Bowl announcement below:

Cam Taylor-Britt celebrates re-joining 53-man roster before Bengals vs. Chiefs

Cam Taylor-Britt is back for the Bengals.

As expected, Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt is back.

Cincinnati activated CTB to the 53-man roster on Friday before the team’s Week 17 encounter with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The team had designated him to return earlier in the week, opening a 21-day window. But his progress from multiple injuries that sent him to injured reserve in early December made it clear that he would be back for the game in Kansas City.

And in a fitting twist, the man known as “Juice” for the Bengals channeled his inner deadman while celebrating the news on social media in pro wrestling style:

CTB will be the No. 1 cornerback again and tasked with chasing around Patrick Mahomes’ top options on the boundary.

Bengals hopeful Cam Taylor-Britt will return from IR this season

An interesting Cam Taylor-Britt injury update.

It sounds like the Cincinnati Bengals won’t be without budding star cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt for longer than the rules require.

Taylor-Britt went to injured reserve last week with an ankle injury suffered in practice (while also battling a nagging quad issue). Missing the mandatory four games would mean he could return for the final two games of the season.

And speaking with the media this week, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor made it sound like they expect CTB to be back for that December 31 game against the Kansas City Chiefs, per Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.

In the interim, veteran Chidobe Awuzie has resumed his No. 1 cornerback role after an offseason spent rehabbing a torn ACL before a back issue in practice. Across from him, rookie DJ Turner continues to show promise on the boundary.

If the Bengals are still in the playoff race three weeks from now, the secondary could get an additional boost at critical moment.

Bengals send Cam Taylor-Britt to IR, sign QB AJ McCarron off practice squad

Big roster moves for the Bengals.

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt heads to injured reserve before his team’s Monday night game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Bengals announced the move on Monday and also signed quarterback AJ McCarron to the active roster to fill the empty spot.

Taylor-Britt had already been declared out for the game due to an ankle injury suffered in practice. He’d already been trying to fight through a quad injury and won’t be eligible to come off IR until Week 17.

With CTB down, veteran Chidobe Awuzie will start across from rookie DJ Turner.

McCarron is now the permanent main-roster depth behind starter Jake Browning after spending time on the practice squad since his arrival.

Jaguars list 4 players as questionable for Monday vs Bengals

Travis Etienne Jr and Tyson Campbell are questionable for Monday night, although both are expected to play.

The Jacksonville Jaguars listed Tyson Campbell, Travis Etienne Jr., Luke Farrell, and Brenton Strange as questionable for a Week 13 game on Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals.

While the official status is up in the air for all four players, it appears unlikely that Etienne or Campbell will sit out Monday.

Earlier in the day Saturday, Jaguars coach Doug Pederson told reporters that Etienne will play Monday, despite a ribs injury that limited him in all three practices this week. Later, Campbell said in the locker room that he expects to return from a hamstring injury that kept him out four of the last games.

For the Bengals, the significant injury news is that starting cornerback, Cam Taylor-Britt, suffered an ankle injury in practice that will keep him out Monday.

Not listed on the report for the Bengals is wide receiver Tee Higgins, who missed the last three weeks with hamstring and ankle injuries. While he was limited in practice Thursday, Higgins practiced fully Friday and Saturday ahead of his return to action.

Bengals CB Cam Taylor-Britt suffers sprained ankle, will miss game vs. Jags

Cam Taylor-Britt suffered an injury in practice and won’t play.

The Cincinnati Bengals unexpectedly won’t have cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt for Monday night’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Saturday, Bengals head coach Zav Taylor announced that CTB suffered a sprained ankle in practice on Friday and won’t be able to play.

CTB has enjoyed a breakout season this year as the team’s top cornerback after the youth movement in the secondary.

With CTB out, the Bengals will again rely heavily on second-round rookie DJ Turner on the boundary. Veteran Chidobe Awuzie just played 90-plus percent of the snaps for the first time this season just one week ago, so he’ll likely get the major workload in CTB’s spot.

5 Bengals players who could cause the Jaguars problems in Week 13

Will the Jaguars be able to shut down the Bengals’ talented receiving corps?

The Jacksonville Jaguars and Cincinnati Bengals have been headed in opposite directions, as of late.

The Jaguars have moved past early hiccups and are establishing themselves as a top team in the AFC. The Bengals, however, looked like one of the best teams for a stretch, but are now spiraling.

Without Pro Bowl quarterback Joe Burrow, Cincinnati has turned to backup Jake Browning to turn the season back around. While the Bengals seem unlikely to make the playoffs, they’re still a team with difference makers on both sides of the field.

Here are five Bengals players who could cause problems for the Jaguars in Week 13:

Bengals get great news on Cam Taylor-Britt injury update

A good update on the Cam Taylor-Britt injury.

Thursday night, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s injury commanded the headlines, but one of the bigger injury items worth attention was cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt leaving the game with an injury.

CTB didn’t return with the quad issue, either, potentially spoiling his breakout season with missed games.

But according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bengals got good news on CTB the day after the game: “Some good news for the #Bengals: CB Cam Taylor-Britt, who left last night’s game with a quad injury, is considered day-to-day, sources say. They have 10 days until their next game.”

CTB has enjoyed a breakout season this year as the No. 1 cornerback for the Bengals. He gets more than a week to rehab this minor setback before the Bengals play again on November 26.
