Longhorns Profile Snapshot: No. 31 DeMarvion Overshown

LonghornsWire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the Texas roster. Today, we will be looking at JR LB DeMarvion Overshown.

Going into the 2020 football season, LonghornsWire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the Texas roster.

Over the summer, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for Tom Herman this season.

Today, we will be looking at junior linebacker DeMarvion Overshown.

DeMarvion Overshown, Linebacker

Scott Wachter-USA TODAY Sports

Height: 6-4 / Weight: 215

Class: Junior

Hometown: Arp, Texas

High School: Arp

HS ranking (247Sports): Four-star / No. 28 overall / No. 1 position / No. 2 in-state

HS ranking (Rivals): Four-star / No. 144 overall / No. 12 position / No. 13 in-state

Analysis: DeMarvion Overshown is another player who will be switching positions in Chris Ash’s new defense. He was recruited and played the past two seasons as a safety but now is expected to fill in as a linebacker.

His 6-4 and 215-pound build shows he does have the size and strength to play in the front seven. The only issue? Overshown has stated he will not be participating in team-related activities. The junior is still frustrated with the University of Texas’ response to the player’s requests back in June.

If Overshown does play for the Longhorns this season, he is going to be a crucial part of the renovation of the defense. He and Juwan Mitchell are expected to lead an inexperienced linebacking group. Hopefully, Overshown and the University can sort of their differences so he can play this season.

BREAKING: Alabama lands 4-star 2021 CB commitment

Alabama landed a commitment from four star CB Devonta Smith, who recently recommitted from Ohio State.

He announced his decommitment from the Buckeyes on June 25, and less than a week later, he was verbally committed to Alabama.

Going into the 2020 football season, LonghornsWire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the Texas roster.

Today, we will be looking at sophomore defensive back Chris Adimora.

Chris Adimora, Defensive Back

Erich Schlegel-USA TODAY Sports

Height: 6-1 / Weight: 212

Class: Sophomore

Hometown: Lakewood, California

High School: Mayfair

HS ranking (247Sports): Four-star / No. 192 overall / No. 17 position / No. 24 in-state

HS ranking (Rivals): Four-star / No. 154 overall / No. 14 position / No. 24 in-state

Analysis: Going into the 2019 season, there was speculation that Adimora was going to take a redshirt season and only play in four games. He impressed everyone in practice throughout the year that he was able to play in all 13 games.

Playing on both sides of the ball in high school, Adimora has developed great hands from his days as a wide receiver. Possibly playing some nickel back this season, he could find himself snagging an interception or two.

If Tom Herman and Chris Ash want to use him at free safety, Adimora can use his range and athleticism to fly across the field. The possibilities with Adimora are endless and it makes him a valuable asset to the Longhorn secondary. If any problems arise via injury for Texas this season, Adimora will be a suitable replacement.
