UFC Fight Night 240 Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay: 2024 total passes $2 million

UFC Fight Night 240 fighters took home UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay, a program that continued after the UFC’s deal with Venum.

LAS VEGAS – Fighters from Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 240 event took home UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay totaling $162,500.

The program, a comprehensive plan that includes outfitting requirements, media obligations and other items under the fighter code of conduct, replaces the previous payments made under the UFC Athlete Outfitting Policy.

UFC Fight Night 240 took place at the UFC Apex. The entire card streamed on ESPN+.

Under the UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance program’s payout tiers, which appropriate the money generated by Venum’s multi-year sponsorship with the UFC, fighters are paid based on their total number of UFC bouts, as well as Zuffa-era WEC fights (January 2007 and later) and Zuffa-era Strikeforce bouts (April 2401 and later). Fighters with 1-3 bouts receive $4,000 per appearance; 4-5 bouts get $4,500; 6-10 bouts get $6,000; 11-15 bouts earn $11,000; 16-20 bouts pocket $16,000; and 21 bouts and more get $21,000. Additionally, champions earn $42,000 while title challengers get $32,000.

In addition to experience-based pay, UFC fighters will receive in perpetuity royalty payments amounting to 20-30 percent of any UFC merchandise sold that bears their likeness, according to officials.

Cynthia Calvillo vs. Elise Reed targeted for UFC’s Mexican Independence Day card

Cynthia Calvillo is getting another UFC fight after all – just months after promotion officials indicated her time was over.

[autotag]Cynthia Calvillo[/autotag] remains on the UFC roster despite reports promotion officials confirmed her UFC departure earlier this year.

A bout between Calvillo (9-6-1 MMA, 6-6-1 UFC) and [autotag]Elise Reed[/autotag] (7-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC) is being finalized for the upcoming UFC Fight Night event Sept. 16, which is Mexican Independence Day. The event, which will be centered around many of the promotions Mexican and Mexican-American athletes will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined by Alexa Grasso vs. Valentina Shevchenko 2.

Two people with knowledge of the targeted booking informed MMA Junkie of the matchup Friday but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. ESPN Deportes first reported the news.

Calvillo, 36, most recently competed at UFC 287 in April when she lost a decision to Loopy Godinez. The defeat was her fifth in a row. After the fight, algorithm-based Twitter account UFC Roster Watch detected Calvillo’s removal from fan ranking eligibility. UFC officials subsequently confirmed to MMA Fighting she was released from the promotion. It is unclear what circumstances changed, if anything.

Reed, 30, has alternated losses and wins since her UFC debut in July 2021. She most recently competed in June when she defeated Jinh Yu Frey by unanimous decision.

With the addition, the UFC Fight Night lineup for Sept. 16 includes:

  • Champion Alexa Grasso vs. Valentina Shevchenko – for women’s flyweight title
  • Shavkat Rakhmonov vs. Kelvin Gastelum
  • Tracy Cortez vs. Jasmine Jasudavicius

UFC releases Cynthia Calvillo after UFC 287 loss

Cynthia Calvillo, whom Dana White once compared to Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey, ends her six-year tenure with the UFC on a five-fight skid.

[autotag]Cynthia Calvillo[/autotag] is no longer on the UFC roster.

Calvillo has been released by the promotion following her split decision loss to Loopy Godinez this past Saturday at UFC 287 in Miami, marking her fifth setback in a row.

MMA Fighting confirmed the news of Calvillo’s release after algorithm-based Twitter account UFC Roster Watch first revealed she was removed from the roster.

Upon entering the UFC, Calvillo (9-6-1 MMA, 6-6-1 UFC) was one of the most highly touted prospects by UFC president Dana White. She joined the promotion in 2017, scoring back-to-back submissions against Amanda Cooper at UFC 209, then Pearl Gonzalez at UFC 210 in the span of a month.

Calvillo’s quick rise drew comparisons to Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey from White.

“The first time I ever met Conor McGregor, I called Lorenzo (Fertitta) and I said, ‘Man, I don’t even know if this guy can fight, but if he could throw a punch he’s going to be a f*cking rockstar.’ You know?” White said at the UFC 210 post-fight press conference while Calvillo sat next to him. “Ronda Rousey, I had a 45-minute meeting with her, and I decided to do women’s MMA. I feel pretty strongly about this one too. I think her performance was awesome tonight.”

Calvillo, 35, never came close to living up to those expectations. After White’s praise, she went 4-6-1 and missed the strawweight limit three times, which prompted a move to flyweight that didn’t work out as she went 1-4 in the division. Her final loss at UFC 287 marked a return to strawweight.

Calvillo earned notable wins over Joanne Wood and former title challenger Jessica Eye during her UFC tenure. Her losses in her five-fight losing streak came against Kaitlyn Chookagian, former champ Jessica Andrade, Andrea Lee, Nina Nunes, and Godinez.
