‘F*ck me’: Chris Curtis reveals Grade 3 hamstring tear suffered at UFC Fight Night 240

Middleweight Chris Curtis revealed bad news about his suspected hamstring injury from the UFC Fight Night 240 main event.

UFC middleweight [autotag]Chris Curtis[/autotag]’ fears have been confirmed.

At UFC Fight Night 240, Curtis (31-11 MMA, 5-3 UFC) dropped a split decision to Brendan Allen, but that was possibly the least of his concerns. Late in the bout, Curtis believed he tore his hamstring.

At the final horn, Curtis and Allen sat on the canvas next to each other,  Allen collecting his thoughts while Curtis grasped at his right hamstring in clear pain. After the announcement of the official decision, Curtis was placed on a stretcher to leave cageside.

Monday, Curtis, 36, received news that he feared: He completely tore his hamstring.

“Not the news I wanted…” Curtis wrote on X. “Grade 3 tear in my hamstring. Waiting on more info. F*ck me.”

Typical recovery for a Grade 3 (complete) hamstring tear could take anywhere from three to six months, including potential surgery.

It’s unfortunate news for Curtis, who likes to remain active. The UFC Fight Night 240 main event against Allen was Curtis’ second fight of the 2024, following a split decision win over Marc-Andre Barriault at UFC 297.

“The Action Man” expects to learn more about his recovery process in the coming days.

Damon Jackson puzzled by split decision in Alexander Hernandez win: ‘That’s why you want to finish fights’

Damon Jackson was not happy to see one judge score the fight for Alexander Hernandez in his split decision in at UFC Fight Night 240.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Damon Jackson[/autotag] won on Saturday night, but it was also a reminder of why he should try to get a finish in every fight.

The veteran featherweight defeated Alexander Hernandez in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 240 at the UFC Apex. He won the fight by split decision and that spooked him a bit, as he was confident he had won two of the three rounds.

“It was definitely not a split decision,” Jackson said at the UFC Fight Night 240 post-fight press conference. “30-27 for either one of us, I would say no, but 29-28 for me all three rounds. I don’t see how it went that way. That’s why you want to finish fights.”

Jackson (23-6-1 MMA, 6-4-1 UFC) was able to snap a two-fight losing streak with the win over Hernandez (14-8 MMA, 6-7 UFC). The fight was contested at a catch weight and not featherweight, as Hernandez missed weight by 1.5 pounds.

Jackson was not surprised his opponent came in over weight.

“He’s always struggling to make weight and I didn’t know that he was going to have problems, but it’s very unprofessional to be in the co-main event spot and missing weight,” Jackson said. “It is what it is. I wasn’t expecting it, but I wasn’t surprised.”

[autotag]Chris Curtis[/autotag] not only suffered a heartbreaking loss to Brendan Allen at UFC Fight Night 240, but he was badly injured in the process.

At the tail-end of his split decision defeat to Allen (24-5 MMA, 12-2 UFC) in their middleweight headliner at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Curtis (31-11 MMA, 5-3 UFC) seemingly tore his hamstring, resulting in him being taken from the octagon in a stretcher.

Given his performance and the narrow nature of the result, Curtis’ stock likely doesn’t drop much. But a long recovery would be a tough blow for the 36-year-old.

[autotag]Brendan Allen[/autotag] remained perfect in main events on Saturday when he avenged his loss to Chris Curtis at UFC Fight Night 240.

Allen (24-5 MMA, 12-2 UFC) went tooth-and-nail with Curtis (31-11 MMA, 5-3 UFC) to take a split decision in the middleweight bout at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. It was a rematch of a December 2021 fight, which Curtis won with an upset TKO.

With a seven-fight winning streak under his belt, Allen thinks he’s worthy of a title shot against 185-pound champion Dricus Du Plessis. Should he get it, though?

UFC’s Alex Morono calls for ‘awesome’ fight against Matt Brown or rematch with Santiago Ponzinibbio

In his next outing, Alex Morono wants to share the octagon veteran Matt Brown, or run it back vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Alex Morono[/autotag] typically doesn’t call for specific opponents but had a pair of names in mind after UFC Fight Night 240.

Morono (24-9 MMA, 13-6 UFC) won a unanimous decision over fellow veteran Court McGee in the featured prelim bout at the UFC Apex. McGee (21-13 MMA, 10-12 UFC) was defeated by Matt Brown last year, which was one of the names Morono had at the tip of his tongue, along with the idea of avenging a prior loss of his own.

“I’d love a rematch with Santiago Ponzinibbio, I think that would be a lot of fun,” Morono told reporters during a post-fight news conference. “All due respect to ‘The Immortal’ Matt Brown, he’s got the most knockouts in welterweight history, that would be awesome.

“There’s so many cool fights I like out there. As soon as they’re willing to offer me a fight, I will accept that fight and get right back to it. I’ll fight more often if they let me.”

Morono fell to Ponzinibbio by third-round knockout at UFC 282, and would like to avenge his last stoppage loss. He has since won two of his last three, while Ponzinibbio has only competed once since, in a loss to Kevin Holland.

Brown, 43, stopped McGee in his last outing by first-round knockout last May to claim the most knockouts in UFC welterweight history. While his career may be in its final stages, Brown stated after his last win that his fighting future will depend on how well his body holds up.

Check out Morono’s full post-fight interview in the video above.
