UGA football Twitter rejoices following Brock Bowers’ commitment

Georgia Bulldogs football Twitter celebrated the news of four-star TE Brock Bowers’ commitment to UGA.

Georgia Bulldog fans needed something to celebrate in day of doom and gloom for college football. Fortunately, for Dawg fans, class of 2021 tight end Brock Bowers committed to the University of Georgia.

Bowers is a talented four-star recruit, who plays high school football for Napa High School in California. His commitment should not be lost in another day fraught with college football news.

Bowers is a building block that Kirby Smart and Georgia can count on in the future and should help solidify UGA’s class of 2021, which is now up to twelve commitments.

Bowers picked the Georgia Bulldogs over a lot of west coast schools, including Oregon, Washington, and UCLA. Kirby Smart is really expanding Georgia’s recruiting territory.

I guess Mondays aren’t always bad! Earlier this afternoon, 4-star tight end Brock Bowers announced, through his Twitter account, his commitment to the University of Georgia.

From Napa High School, Bowers (6-foot-4, 225 pounds) is rated as the No. 3 tight end, the No. 11 player in California and the No. 92 prospect overall – according to 247Sports Composite.

The Bulldogs are getting a man amongst boys in Bowers, and he will obviously continue to grow before his arrival in Athens.

And even though he is a bigger guy, his speed doesn’t suffer. Bowers has a verified forty yard dash of 4.55 seconds, which is elite speed at the tight end position on any level.

The efforts of current Georgia players, signees and commits in recruiting some of the top players in the country have not gone unnoticed.

These current and future Bulldogs have been virtually recruiting the America’s top high school prospects to come join them at UGA. This all started with 5-star quarterback commit Brock Vandagriff Tweeting at recruits with their picture in a Dawgs jersey.

5-star UGA tight end commit Darnell Washington, who signed as a member of Georgia’s 2020 class, is joining in on the fun, replying to 4-star 2021 tight end and heavy Dawgs prospect Brock Bowers via Twitter.

Washington replied to Bowers’ tweet of an old practice video of him running through tackles to open grass.

“Looks like a UGA DAWG to me,” Washington said.

 

Bowers, the Napa, California native, is listed as the No. 3 tight end in the 2021 class, according to 247Sports.

Georgia looks to be the leader for Bowers, who has a top eight of Cal, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oregon, Oregon State, Penn State, UCLA and Washington.

Georgia offered Bowers back in September of 2019. He and his family took a trip to Athens in January for an unofficial visit.

Is Georgia football in the lead for 4-star TE Brock Bowers?

Georgia football appears to be trending for 4-star TE Brock Bowers.

Two weeks ago, Brock Bowers, a four-star tight end in the class of 2021, released his top eight schools.

From Napa, California, he included only one SEC school in his most recent cut, Georgia.

Bowers’ full list is Cal, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oregon, Oregon State, Penn State, UCLA and Washington.

At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, Bowers is rated as the nation’s No. 2 tight end and No. 53 prospect overall.

Kirby Smart brought in Florida State graduate transfer Tre’ McKitty to help soften the blow of losing tight ends Charlie Woerner and Eli Wolf from last season’s squad. Georgia also signed 5-star tight end Darnell Washington in the 2020 class.

But looking ahead at the 2021 class, Georgia appears to be trending for Bowers. Per 247Sports’ Crystal Ball, Georgia is trending for Bowers, with all six of the votes going in favor of the Bulldogs.

Notre Dame Makes Cut For Yet Another Top Tight End

Bowers is graded as the third best tight end in the 2021 class per 247Sports and measures out at 6-3, 225 pounds.

Notre Dame’s history as Tight End U doesn’t slow down, it just tends to reload and produce at very high levels year after year.  New head coach, new coordinators, quarterbacks and systems?  Doesn’t matter, even in some dark years tight ends still produce at Notre Dame and go on to the NFL with regularity.

Now Notre Dame is in the running for one of the best tight ends in the 2021 recruiting class as Brock Bowers, a four-star tight end announced his “top eight” on Sunday with Notre Dame making the cut.

The Napa, California has an interesting top eight with a five schools; Cal, Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA and Washington, being on the west coast and Georgia, Notre Dame and Penn State pulling off the national pitch.

Bowers is graded as the third best tight end in the 2021 class per 247Sports and measures out at 6-3, 225 pounds.  Bowers is coming off a remarkable junior season as he pulled down 39 receptions for 1098 yards and 14 touchdowns while also rushing the ball 22 times for 316 yards and three scores.

Notre Dame has been loading up at the position in recent years, having both Michael Mayer (five-star) and Kevin Bauman (four-star) join their 2020 class.  The Fighting Irish do already have one tight end commit for the ’21 class in Cane Berrong of Hart County in Georgia, a 6-4, 230 pound prospect per 247.
