Updated 2024 SEC football recruiting rankings

Below is social media buzz from recruits visiting Tennessee.

ChampU BBQ Visitor List: Who’s coming to Norman this weekend?

A look at who’s coming to town for the ChampU BBQ this weekend.

Oklahoma’s future looks bright. Less than a day ago, they received news of their first slate of SEC opponents when they begin play in their new conference in 2024. It’s a compelling slate and something that gets the competitive energy flowing.

If they plan to make an impact when they get there, the class of 2024 will have a profound hand in that. This class will be the first class that hits the ground and is immediately thrown into the fire that is the SEC. They’ll spend their whole careers being molded by the best football conference in the country. For the Sooners to compete for the top, this 2024 class must be unique.

It’s only fitting that Oklahoma has its premier recruiting event, the ChampU BBQ this weekend, right after the SEC opponents were revealed.

The Sooners can use the SEC to their advantage, selling the appeal of playing in an elite conference to any athlete unafraid of competing against the best in the country.

Last year’s ChampU BBQ had attendees signing with the Sooners and are now on campus with the current roster. Here’s a running count:

  • OT [autotag]Cayden Green[/autotag]
  • LB [autotag]Phil Picciotti[/autotag]
  • ATH [autotag]Jacobe Johnson[/autotag]
  • RB [autotag]Daylan Smothers[/autotag]
  • CB [autotag]Makari Vickers[/autotag]
  • WR [autotag]Jaquaize Pettaway[/autotag]
  • OT [autotag]Logan Howland[/autotag]
  • QB [autotag]Jackson Arnold[/autotag]

In short, a nice chunk of OU’s 2023 class came to the event. Arnold was already committed before the BBQ, but having him there helped Oklahoma recruit and, ultimately, the remaining players committed in the months after.

The visitor list for the event is long, with well over 20 official visitors already confirmed.

This weekend in Norman will be jam-packed with an extensive amount of talent. David Stone, a consensus top-10 recruit, is the headliner. He’s a hometown kid who grew up a Sooner fan. A commitment from him would be massive. He’s at the top of the Sooners’ recruiting board and a must-have in this cycle.

[autotag]Caden Durham[/autotag] and [autotag]Taylor Tatum[/autotag] are two talented four-star running backs Oklahoma would be delighted to have.

Oklahoma has four 2024 commits in the building this weekend, and aside from them enjoying their officials, they can and will likely be used to recruit some of their uncommitted counterparts. [autotag]K.J. Daniels[/autotag], [autotag]Zion Kearney[/autotag], [autotag]Isaiah Autry[/autotag], and [autotag]Jaydan Hardy[/autotag] are the four commits who will enjoy their officials as Oklahoma Sooners.

[autotag]Joseph Jonah-Ajonye[/autotag], [autotag]Nigel Smith[/autotag], and [autotag]Dominick McKinley[/autotag] join David Stone as highly touted defensive linemen in Norman this weekend. Aside from landing Stone, can Oklahoma at least snag two of the remaining three? This weekend of visits could go a long way in determining that.

This weekend will have ripple effects for the 2024 cycle and help lay the foundation for Oklahoma’s future in the SEC. Last year’s event netted Oklahoma seven commits in the weeks and months after. The Sooners will be thrilled if the same happens this year.

Michigan football trending for multiple prospects following big recruiting weekend

Let’s get them!

Michigan had an enormous amount of talent on campus this weekend for official visits. The 2024 headliners on campus were five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo and defensive lineman Justin Scott. While neither are trending toward Michigan, both appeared to have had a good time posting photos and tweeting with other Michigan recruits. It’s safe to say the Wolverines are still in the hunt for both.

The Wolverines came out of the weekend with one commitment — so far. Four-star DL Owen Wafle committed to the Wolverines on Sunday. Wafle was a previous Notre Dame commit and decided to come to Ann Arbor.

The Wolverines are also trending favorably for a few other players who were in Ann Arbor this past weekend. We looked at 247Sports and On3 to see what the recruiting analysts are saying.

Bennett Warren

The 6-foot-7, 330-pound offensive tackle has two more crystal ball predictions in favor of Michigan. Steve Wiltfong, the national recruiting analyst on 247Sports, put in one himself with a confidence level of ‘6’.

Warren now has three crystal balls in for the Wolverines and one for Texas A&M. He is 175th overall on the 247Sports composite and is the 13th-best offensive tackle.

The On3 recruiting prediction machine has Michigan leading over the Aggies. The Wolverines have an 80.9% chance to land Warren.

Deyvid Palepale

The 6-foot-3, 288-pound defensive lineman was already trending toward Michigan, and another crystal ball prediction came in on Sunday in favor of the Wolverines. He has two predictions for him to commit to Michigan.

Palepale is a three-star and the 756th-ranked prospect in 2024 according to the 247Sports composite.

Dominic Nichols

The 6-foot-5 edge rusher was on campus this weekend, and he gained another crystal ball prediction in favor of Michigan. However, on Friday a Wisconsin analyst put a crystal ball prediction in favor of the Badgers. It appears this is a Michigan and Wisconsin battle.

Nichols, a four-star, is the 429th-ranked prospect in the class and the 29th-best edge recruit in 2024 according to the 247Sports composite.

Elias Rudolph

The four-star edge rusher received his first crystal ball in favor of Michigan on Sunday. The Wolverines are battling Ohio State and Pittsburgh to land the Deerfield (Florida) native. There is also a crystal ball prediction for the Buckeyes to land Rudolph.

On3’s EJ Holland put in a prediction in favor of the Wolverines. Michigan has an 89.4% chance to land Rudolph according to the recruiting prediction machine via On3.

Rudolph is the 248th-ranked player in the class and the 20th-best edge defender on the 247Sports composite.

2024 four-star offensive tackle Bennett Warren locks down his top four schools

2024 four-star offensive tackle Bennett Warren locks down his top four schools, including the Oklahoma Sooners.

The Oklahoma Sooners are in the mix for 2024 four-star offensive lineman Bennett Warren. Warren announced his top four, which includes Texas A&M, Michigan, Oklahoma and Tennessee. Those four could all use his help in a big way, too.

Warren is 6-foot-8 and weighs 330 pounds. With great size already, there will be an opportunity to refine his body and player early if he were to sign with the Oklahoma Sooners. His size makes him an intriguing prospect to keep an eye on.

Warren is from Sugar Land, Texas, and has played his high school football at Fort Bend Christian Academy. Warren has 34 scholarship offers and is one of the best offensive linemen in the class.

He’s visiting all four in June and is expected to make a commitment as soon as the visits wrap up at the end of the month. It seems there is no clear leader in this recruitment, but Texas A&M and Oklahoma appear to be the schools picking up the most steam as we near his commitment date.

On3 has Texas A&M as the leader for his services, but with Oklahoma right behind the Aggies. Still, nothing is official just yet, and Michigan and Tennessee still have as good of a chance to land Warren.

The appeal with Oklahoma for Warren is that it’s still relatively close to where he’s from. However, the biggest factor is how good of a coach Bill Bedenbaugh is when it comes to the offensive line. His track record is undeniable and should be enticing to any offensive line recruit like Warren.

Four-star offensive tackle Bennett Warren announced his top-four schools on Thursday.

Tennessee, Michigan, Texas A&M and Oklahoma are Warren’s top-four schools.

The 6-foot-7, 330-pound offensive tackle is from Fort Bend Christian Academy in Sugar Land, Texas.

Warren is the No. 170 overall prospect in the class of 2024. He ranks as the No. 13 offensive tackle and No. 31 player in Texas, according to On3 Sports industry rankings.

He earned first-team TAPPS District 4 D-II honors last season as a junior and won the TAPPS Division II championship. As a sophomore, Bennett earned second-team All-District honors.

Bennett is scheduled to officially visit Tennessee on June 23.

2024 4-star OT Bennett Warren places Texas A&M in his final four program list

Priority 2024 prospect, 4-star OT Bennett Warren has placed Texas A&M in his Top four program list.

Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class is building momentum as visits ramp up this summer. While building up every position group matters, head coach Jimbo Fisher’s affinity for building through the trenches has continued, as 2024 four-star offensive tackle Bennett Warren has placed Texas A&M in his final four school list.

Also vying for Warren’s commitment within the final stages of his recruitment, Michigan, Tennessee, and Oklahoma have made his list. After taking an official visit to College Station on June 1, things are definitely in motion for the Aggies from now on.

According to 247Sports, Warren is currently positioned as the 85th-ranked prospect in the 2024 cycle, the 5th-ranked OT, and the 14th-ranked player in Texas. Entering his senior season at Fort Bend Christian Academy in Sugar Land, Texas, Warren also plays Basketball and participates in the shot put as a Track & Field athlete, adding his versatile athletic profile.

As I’ve said before, Warren’s high school tape is basically a 6-8 and 330-pound giant knocking over young men half his size, and it’s simply a beautiful sight to witness. As it stands, Texas A&M has a 75% chance to land the future blocking star, while Michigan is behind them at 25% per 247Sports Crystal Ball.

As busy as A&M’s recruiting schedule is, don’t be surprised if Warren makes his way to College Station for his fourth visit. Gig ‘Em, Bennett!

Michigan football makes final four for 2024 OT prospect

Need to lock him up this weekend #GoBlue

The Wolverines have 17 commitments in the 2024 class so far and five of them are offensive linemen. Michigan lost Olu Oluwatimi and Ryan Hayes from last season’s Joe Moore Award-winning offensive line but the Wolverines replenished the line by bringing in three sought-after transfers.

Although Michigan has five linemen committed in the 2024 cycle, it’s not stopping Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines from going after more talent for the best offensive line in the country — for two years running.

On Thursday, 2024 four-star offensive tackle Bennett Warren officially named Michigan a finalist. The Wolverines are joined by Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.

Warren, the 6-foot-7, 330-pound lineman, hails from Sugar Land (Texas) Fort Bend Christian Academy. According to the 247Sports Composite, he is the 175th-ranked recruit and the 13th-best offensive tackle in the 2024 cycle.

While Bennett did name a top four, it appears Michigan and Texas A&m are the two main teams in the running to land him. There are two Crystal Ball predictions for Bennett and one is in favor of Michigan while the other is for the Aggies. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine slightly favors Texas A&M over the maize and blue.

Bennett took a visit to Texas A&M on June 1, and he will be in Ann Arbor this weekend for an official visit. He is set to visit Oklahoma and Tennessee before June ends.

A crystal ball prediction comes in for Michigan football to land 2024 offensive lineman

This is huge — literally! #GoBlue

Michigan already has five offensive linemen in the 2024 recruiting class out of the 17 commitments.

But when you are the program coming off two straight Joe Moore Award-winning seasons for having the best offensive line in the country, it’s understood high-end talent will want to come play for you. Of the five offensive linemen committed in the 2024 cycle, three are four-stars and the other two are high three-stars.

And it appears Michigan could add to that total soon. On Monday, a crystal ball prediction came in from 247Sports for four-star offensive tackle Bennett Warren to come to the Wolverines. Steve Lorenz, from The Michigan Insider, is the one who cast a crystal ball with a confidence of 4.

Bennett, the 6-foot-8 offensive tackle, plays his high school ball at Sugar Land (Texas) Fort Bend Christian Academy. According to the 247Sports composite, he is the 175th-ranked recruit in the 2024 cycle. According to 247Sports itself, Bennett is a top-100 recruit who comes in at No. 85 in the class.

Warren announced on Twitter he would come out with his top four at some point this week. It looks as if Michigan and Texas A&M lead to get the big 6-foot-8, 330-pound lineman. There is also one crystal ball placed on Warren to go to the Aggies on 247Sports. And if you look at the On3 recruiting prediction machine, Texas A&M holds a slight lead at 21.4% to get Warren.

Last season, Warren primarily played right tackle during his junior year. He is scheduled to take an official visit to Michigan this weekend on June 9.

These are the high-profile 2024 football prospects visiting Texas A&M this weekend

Texas A&M is set for a busy month as they welcome close to a double-digit number of recruiting visits, beginning with this weekend’s list of high-profile 2024 football prospects.

While the summer months may separate fans from meaningful college football, it doesn’t negate exciting news to stop flowing in. As we officially turn the page to June, the 2024 recruiting cycle enters the exciting stage of campus visits.

Texas A&M and head coach Jimbo Fisher are set for a busy month as the Maroon and White is nearing double-digit visiting numbers from a handful of top football prospects. The coming weekend of June 2 to June 4 will see some of the best recruits on both the offensive and side of the ball get a preview of Aggieland, with the hope that they see College Station as their next home for the future.

While a handful of this weekend’s visitors are still progressing through their decision process, at least one current commit of a rival program is making his way to Aggieland in the coming days, offering an opportunity for the Maroon and White to help him reconsider his decision.

Here’s the list of the top 2024 football prospects visiting Texas A&M this weekend (June 2-4 ):
