Four-star DL Kamarion Franklin could be Auburn’s next commit

On3’s Jeffrey Lee says that Auburn fans should be “cautiously optimistic” about the potential of Franklin committing to Auburn.

One of the nation’s top defensive linemen from the 2024 cycle is set to announce his commitment on Saturday, and Auburn fans have every right to feel confident heading into the day.

Five-star defensive lineman [autotag]Kamarion Franklin[/autotag] has been trending toward Auburn over the last two weeks. Last week, On3’s Cole Pinkston logged a prediction in favor of Auburn. Since then, two more recruiting experts feel that Franklin will land at Auburn. Christian Clemente of Auburn Undercover dropped a crystal ball on Aug. 10 for Auburn and On3’s Jeffrey Lee said on a recent episode of The Inside Scoop podcast that Auburn fans should feel “cautiously optimistic” about their favorite team earning Franklin’s commitment.

Relationships are a driving force behind Franklin’s commitment. Head coach Hugh Freeze and defensive line coach Jeremy Garrett have developed a strong one with Franklin.

“That visit right before the dead period kicked in that last week of July really, really played a big factor in (Franklin’s) recruitment,” Lee said. “Jeremy Garrett, Hugh Freeze both of those guys from the state of Mississippi — they’ve got ties, they’ve got really strong bonds with Kam. And so I think that’s really paying off for Auburn as we get near the decision. I think right now, Auburn is the team to beat. But Josh, we’ve seen things like this happen before and we know things can change late. But as of today, I do like where Auburn sits.”

Franklin is scheduled to announce his commitment on Saturday. In addition to Auburn, Franklin is also considering Ole Miss, Miami, and Tennessee. Franklin is the No. 7 overall defensive lineman for the 2024 class and is the top player from the state of Mississippi. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Auburn an 89.3% chance to land him.

Auburn becomes frontrunner to land five-star DL Kamarion Franklin

One source has confidence that Auburn will add the talented defensive lineman to its 2024 signing class.

Auburn has gained plenty of momentum on the recruiting trail lately and is looking to keep it going by landing a 2024 five-star defensive lineman from Mississippi.

[autotag]Kamarion Franklin[/autotag] has taken several visits to Auburn since receiving an offer last September, most recently stopping by for Big Cat Weekend. Predictions from recruiting sites are starting to come in as he prepares for his commitment date, which is set to be sometime this month. One of those predictions has worked out in Auburn’s favor.

Cole Pinkston of On3 has submitted a prediction for Franklin to land at Auburn. Because of this, the Tigers are now the favorite to earn his commitment with a 59% forecast according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, jumping Tennessee.

Franklin told Pinkston last month that he enjoyed his visit to campus for Big Cat Weekend.

“It was a good, good visit,” Franklin said. “Also, I got to talk more and spend the day with Coach (Jeremy) Garrett. I enjoyed that. I also talked to Coach Freeze 1-on-1 and spend time with him before the dead period.”

There are zero crystal ball predictions as of the timing of this post, but 247Sports was able to provide some insight into his recruiting.

No Crystal Ball predictions have been logged for Franklin, who does not have a set decision date but recently told 247Sports that he plans on committing “no later than September.” Auburn, Miami, Ole Miss, and Tennessee are in the mix for the 6-foot-5, 265-pound defensive lineman, who visited each of those four campuses over the summer, including official visits with the Hurricanes and Volunteers in June. He is set to return to Auburn for an official visit in early September.

Franklin is a 6-5, 250-pound defensive lineman from Lake Cormorant, Mississippi. He is considered to be a five-star defensive lineman by 247Sports and ESPN. According to 247Sports rankings, he is the No. 2 overall player from Mississippi for the 2024 class and is the nation’s No. 21 defensive lineman.

Four-star DL Kamarion Franklin takes last-minute trip to Auburn

Auburn is in the mix to land Kamarion Franklin, the No. 1 player from Mississippi.

Four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Kamarion Franklin[/autotag] wasn’t able to make it to Auburn for Big Cat Weekend but he took a surprise unofficial visit on Monday, making sure he made one last visit before the dead period started on Aug. 1.

The trip was his third to Auburn this year and he once again enjoyed his time.

“It went good,” Franklin told AuburnUndercover’s Christian Clemente. “I just got the feel of the atmosphere. Got to talk and spend the day with Coach (Jeremy) Garrett. I enjoyed it. Getting to talk to Coach (Hugh) Freeze one-on-one, spend time with him today. Come and get another feel before it goes dead.”

Franklin is the No. 45 overall player and No. 8 defensive lineman in the 247Sports Composite ranking. The Lake Cormorant, Mississippi native is also the No. 1 player from The Magnolia State.

While he included Aubun in his top five schools back on June 2, they have not gotten nearly as much attention as Tennessee and Miami and that is something Franklin enjoys.

“That’s what I like,” Franklin said. “Auburn’s like the underdog in my process. Not a lot of people talk about Auburn but I feel strong and good about Auburn.”

It’s his connection with Garret that’s put Auburn in a place to land the 6-foot-5, 265-pounder.

“The people,” Franklin said. “The head coach, Coach Garrett, they’re both from Mississippi so the Mississippi pipeline goes through here so it feels kind of homey. The player, I hung out with the players and it’s just a good environment overall. He (Garrett) just gets me. He understands me and he knows where I come from and I know where he come from. We just connect real good.”

While he doesn’t have a specific date in mind, he would like to make his commitment “by the end of September” he shared.
