LSU making a push for 5-star receiver, Alabama decommit Ryan Williams

LSU’s set to get an official visit from the top uncommitted recruit in the country.

The retirement of Nick Saban has given LSU a fresh shot at an elite recruit.

Five-star [autotag]Ryan Williams[/autotag] decommitted from the Crimson Tide this week, and with his recruitment now open, LSU is getting an official visit, according to On3.

Along with LSU, Williams continues to consider Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M and Texas, making it an SEC-heavy top five for the blue-chip receiver.

Per On3, Williams is set to arrive in Baton Rouge later this week.

Williams told On3 that he has a good relationship with LSU assistants [autotag]Joe Sloan[/autotag] and [autotag]Cortez Hankton[/autotag] and that he’s been in contact with members of LSU’s loaded 2025 recruiting class.

Williams would continue LSU’s strong finish to the 2024 class. The Tigers have recently moved into the top 10 after picking up commitments from [autotag]Dominick McKinley[/autotag] and [autotag]Coen Echols[/autotag].

Williams is the top uncommitted recruit in the country and would be the top-rated player in LSU’s class.

Recruiting Rankings: LSU has a top 10 2024 signing class per On3

The Tigers sneak into the top 10 with their 28-man class, per On3.

After a stress-free early signing day, LSU’s 2024 class is more or less locked up.

All 27 players who entered the period committed signed, and the Tigers even added a 28th commit on Friday in interior offensive lineman [autotag]Coen Echols[/autotag], who also signed.

Coach Brian Kelly may not be completely done yet as the team still looks to sway five-star Texas A&M commit [autotag]Dominick McKinley[/autotag], but for now, we have a good idea of where this class stands.

While the 247Sports Composite Rankings have LSU’s signing class outside the top 10, there’s a discrepancy with the On3 industry rankings, in which the Tigers do sneak into the top 10.

Here’s how the full top 25 looks following the early signing period.

Relationship with Brad Davis brought 4-star IOL Coen Echols to Baton Rouge

Coen Echols became the latest LSU signee, committing to the Tigers over Auburn on Friday.

It was a relatively drama-free early signing period for LSU, which ultimately inked all 27 players who entered Dec. 20 committed to the program.

The Tigers also brought in something of a surprise addition on Friday as four-star Katy, Texas, interior offensive lineman [autotag]Coen Echols[/autotag] committed to LSU over conference rival Auburn, becoming the 28th signee in the 2024 recruiting class, which currently ranks 11th nationally.

Echols said that offensive line coach [autotag]Brad Davis[/autotag]’ track record speaks for itself, and the relationship he developed with Davis and his family ultimately played a significant role in bringing him to LSU.

“He’s a mentor and he has a lot of experience in that field. That’s why he produces so many offensive linemen,” Echols said according to On3. “We have a close relationship. Not only have I met him, his son, his wife… we’ve been really close throughout the entire recruiting process. We’ve always aligned, always stayed in touch and made me feel like I was a priority.”

The Tigers got the last word in for Echols, who took an official visit from Dec. 15-17. He said that trip played a major role in affirming his decision.

“The official visit was great. They showed me what they had to offer and there’s a lot in Louisiana,” Echols recounted. “The coaching staff showed they wanted me as well. Coach Kelly was preaching to me that I was a priority, that they need me here, and speaking with the OC Coach (Mike) Denbrock, I can tell he wants me as well and I fit into their offensive scheme.”

It’s worth noting that Denbrock’s departure to become the offensive coordinator at Notre Dame came prior to Echols signing with the Tigers.

With Echols’ addition, LSU’s class sits at 28 commitments as coach Brian Kelly has made it clear the team intends to program build primarily through high school recruiting.

The class may not be quite done yet as the Tigers will continue to push for five-star defensive lineman and top Louisiana prospect [autotag]Dominick McKinley[/autotag], who is currently committed to Texas A&M but won’t sign until February.

BREAKING: LSU lands sixth offensive lineman in the 2024 recruiting class

Heading into his commitment, Coen Echols had received multiple Crystal Ball projections and On3 predictions to LSU.

Entering this afternoon, LSU’s 2024 recruiting class had signed five offensive linemen, and the class was ranked as the No. 12 class in the country by 247Sports. There was one player who decided to not sign on the 20th and instead, he pushed his signing day back to Friday.

That player was four-star interior offensive lineman [autotag]Coen Echols[/autotag]. Echols is a 6-foot-4, 290-pound offensive lineman from Katy, Texas, where he plays for Katy High School. Echols was down to two different Tigers, the LSU Tigers and the Auburn Tigers. Heading into his commitment, Echols had received multiple Crystal Ball projections and On3 predictions to LSU.

On Friday, he announced that he was signing with the LSU Tigers to become their sixth offensive lineman signee of the class. His signing could propel LSU’s signing class even higher in the rankings and maybe into the top 10.

Now, the Tigers will be in pursuit of [autotag]Dominick McKinley[/autotag] until he signs in February.

LSU lands prediction for four-star IOL ahead of Friday commitment

LSU signed five offensive linemen in this recruiting class, but it may not be finished yet.

LSU signed 27 out of 27 of their commitments on signing day so there was no drama on the bayou. Those weren’t the only recruits that were signing this year as some have chosen to sign in February or at another date.

LSU signed five offensive linemen in this recruiting class but it may not be finished yet. The Tigers are in contention for a four-star interior offensive lineman from Katy, Texas.

[autotag]Coen Echols[/autotag] is a 6-foot-4, 290-pound, four-star offensive lineman who is one of the best interior offensive linemen in the 2024 recruiting class. Instead of signing on Dec. 20, Echols decided to push back his commitment to Friday.

Echols is down to two Tiger teams, LSU and Auburn. LSU has recently received a prediction to land Echols by Sam Spiegelman of On3. Echols also received four Crystal Ball projections from 247Sports to land the talented offensive lineman. The Tigers class is currently ranked as the No. 12 class in the country, but signing Echols could improve that even further.

Where LSU’s 2024 recruiting class ranks as the early signing day dust settles

The Tigers currently sit just outside the top 10, but that could still change in the coming days and weeks.

Early signing day has surpassed the regular date in February in prominence over the last few years.

The vast majority of players sign early — as was the case for LSU this season — and the 2024 iteration was filled with quite a bit of drama around the country.

Luckily for the Tigers, not much of that pertained to them. They ultimately signed all 27 players who entered the day committed to them as coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] has mostly put a bow on this cycle.

The class currently ranks just outside the top 10, though the situation is still fluid. A few targets remain unsigned including four-star offensive lineman [autotag]Coen Echols[/autotag], who commits Friday, and five-star defensive lineman [autotag]Dominick McKinley[/autotag], who is currently committed to Texas A&M but will sign in February.

Still, the Tigers inked a solid class headlined by top-100 prospects in tight end [autotag]Tre’Dez Green[/autotag] and safety [autotag]Dashawn McBryde[/autotag], as well as blue-chip quarterback [autotag]Colin Hurley[/autotag]. Here’s where it stands in the national rankings after early signing day, per the 247Sports Composite.

Who is the next player LSU could sign?

Now, we turn the page to see who the next signee in the 2024 class could be.

LSU has gone 27-for-27 on early signing day as it has signed every player who was previously committed to playing for LSU. Now, we turn the page to see who could be the next signee in the 2024 class.

LSU has signed five offensive linemen in the 2024 recruiting class and they could add another one this Friday. [autotag]Coen Echols[/autotag] is a 6-foot-4, 290-pound, four-star offensive lineman from Katy, Texas, where he plays for Katy High School.

It appears to be a battle of the Tigers for who will get to sign Echols on Friday. He is down to Auburn and LSU. 247Sports has posted multiple Crystal Ball projections for Echols to go to Auburn, and Auburn is a 96% favorite to land him per On3.

Coen is the next name on the board for LSU until the Tigers try to flip [autotag]Dominick McKinley[/autotag] from Texas A&M. McKinley will not announce who he is signing with until February.

Auburn OT target Favour Edwin trending to SEC rival

Auburn and Alabama are battling for offensive tackle Favour Edwin.

Auburn’s coaches have been working to add more offensive linemen to the Tigers’ 2024 recruiting class but it has been tough. They currently have juat two commitments, four-star [autotag]DeAndre Carter[/autotag] and three-star [autotag]Seth Wilfred[/autotag], a JUCO product.

One of the players they’ve been looking to add to the class is three-star offensive tackle [autotag]Favour Edwin[/autotag], who is from McDonough, Georgia. The Tigers have hosted him on several visits and were seen as the favorite to land the 6-foot-7, 300-pounder.

That is no longer the case as Nick Saban and Alabama have stormed ahead of Auburn. They hosted him for an official visit on Dec. 8 and have received three crystal balls to land him from 247Sports recruiting experts since then.

Edwin is the No. 795 overall player and No. 59 offensive tackle in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also the No. 92 player from Georgia.

Auburn still has one high school target on the board ahead of the early signing period, four-star [autotag]Coen Echols[/autotag]. Auburn is the favorite to land the Texas product but LSU and Texas A&M are still involved.

Auburn is the favorite to land elite IOL Coen Echols

Coen Echols backed off his Texas A&M commitment on Friday and Auburn has emerged as the favorite.

Auburn has been pursuing four-star offensive lineman [autotag]Coen Echols[/autotag] for quite some time and those efforts could be paying off.

Echols backed off his Texas A&M commitment on Friday, saying his recruitment is “100% open.” The Katy, Texas product is one of Auburn’s top remaining targets in the 2024 recruiting cycle and has taken several trips to the Plains, officially visiting back in June and returning for the Iron Bowl.

After the Aggies moved on from head coach Jimbo Fisher, the Tigers emerged as a key player in his recruitment and they are now the favorite to land the 6-foot-3, 285-pounder when he signs with a program in December.

Following his decommitment, predictions poured in for him to commit to Auburn. Both Christian Clemente and Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports logged crystal balls in Auburn’s favor on Friday. They were soon joined by On3’s Cole Pinkston, Jeffrey Lee and Sam Spiegelman, giving them a 96.7% chance to land Echols using the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Echols is the No. 285 overall player and No. 17 interior offensive lineman in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also the No. 48 player from Texas.

Auburn currently has one commit along the offensive line, four-star interior offensive lineman [autotag]DeAndre Carter[/autotag].

4-star OL recruit Coen Echols announces his decommitment from Texas A&M football team

With the impending departure of interim head coach Elijah Robinson forthcoming, some top prospects are reevaluating their options.

With the impending departure of Texas A&M interim head coach Elijah Robinson forthcoming, some of the Aggies’ top recruits are reevaluating their options.

4-star offensive line prospect Coen Echols is the latest recruit to de-commit from Texas A&M. Echols released a statement via X on Friday afternoon to announce his decision.

“I would like to start off by thanking the Lord for blessing me to be where I am today,” Echols stated. “I would also like to thank my family for their continued guidance and support. I would like to thank the Texas A&M coaching staff for giving me this great opportunity and I would like to thank the fans and players for the love they have shown me and my family.

“I wish nothing but the best for Texas A&M, but with all that being said, my recruitment is 100% back open. Please respect me and my family’s decision at this time. This isn’t just any decision, but a life decision.”

Echols is a 6-foot-3, 285-pound interior offensive lineman from Katy High School in Texas with over 30 offers. He was recruited primarily by Robinson along with former offensive line coach Steve Addazio.

Robinson is remaining with the Aggies for the TaxAct Texas Bowl on Dec. 27 versus No. 22 Oklahoma State at NRG Stadium in Houston. Afterward, he will be departing College Station to become the new defensive coordinator at Syracuse.
