Georgia vs Alabama score predictions from national media

Predictions from the national media..

The Georgia Bulldogs (12-0) enter Saturday’s game against the Alabama Crimson Tide (11-1) as the No. 1 ranked team in America.

With Alabama sitting at No. 3, we are in for another incredible matchup between the Dawgs and the Tide in Atlanta.

Georgia is a 6.5 point favorite to win this game (Tipico SportsBook), and many in the media are predicting that this is the week that Kirby Smart is finally able to take that next step and beat his former boss Nick Saban.

Here’s some predictions from members of the national media ahead of the 2021 SEC Championship Game.

Oklahoma State passes Notre Dame in new College Football Playoff rankings

Who should be ranked higher: Notre Dame or Oklahoma State?

I know it’s hard to believe based off the whirlwind 24 hours it’s been but believe it or not, there is actually still football to be played this season and Notre Dame still technically has a chance to win a national championship.

Yes, the team who just had their head coach bail after breaking up with them over text message, has a chance at the College Football Playoff (CFP).  Following their 45-14 victory at Stanford on Saturday the Irish finished the season 11-1 and now await things to play out both ahead of and behind them in the CFP rankings.

The CFP committee released their latest rankings on Tuesday night and here is how they go:

College Football Playoff Rankings Projection following Rivalry Weekend

What will the next top 6 look like?

Rivalry weekend came and went in the 2021 college football season and it was an absolute doozie.  Michigan getting by Ohio State after a decade-straight of losing to their rival was epic to watch while Alabama’s comeback at Auburn was borderline insane, and Oklahoma-Oklahoma State for Bedlam was terrific as well.

So what do we take away from the weekend and what will the new College Football Playoff ratings look like on Tuesday night?

Here is our best guess here at Fighting Irish Wire.

First up: 25-21…

Joel Klatt releases his new college football top-10 rankings

What is your latest top ten after a wild rivalry weekend in college football?

It was another week of college football and another week of craziness as Michigan finally got over the hump that is Ohio State, Alabama survived an incredible scare at Auburn, and Oklahoma State came back to beat Oklahoma and advance to the Big 12 Championship.

Where does Notre Dame check-in compared to that Oklahoma State team?  That answer will hold such a key in deciding the final College Football Playoff team.

Here is Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt’s brand new top-10 rankings:

ESPN CFP Projections Remain Low on Notre Dame

Really, still nobody buying in?

Notre Dame dominated Stanford 45-14 to close their 2021 regular season campaign and moved to 11-1.  Was it enough for Notre Dame to get more respect in terms of a College Football Playoff appearance?

According to ESPN, no, and not even close.

ESPN has 14 college football staffers pick their four CFP teams each week and did so as soon as games of significance ended Saturday night.  Of those 14, none of them had Notre Dame picked to make the playoff.

Here are the five teams that appeared and how many votes each received:

Georgia: 14/14
Michigan: 14/14
Cincinnati: 14/14
Alabama: 7/14
Oklahoma State: 7/14

No other teams appeared on any ballot.

Do seven people think Alabama goes into the SEC Championship and beats Alabama?  That’s the only way they can get in at this point after a game they should have lost at Auburn had it not been for an epic, self-inflicted collapse.

At least it should be.

Notre Dame’s updated road map to College Football Playoff

What do you think should need to happen to get Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff?

Notre Dame checked in sixth this week in the College Football Playoff rankings with two teams ahead of them set to play this weekend and another pair set to play next weekend.  It seems like the Irish have a great shot at making the CFP for a third time in four seasons upon hearing that, right?

To quote Lee Corso, “Not so fast, my friend!”

Although those are the facts today, seemingly everything you hear appears to be hell-bent on a one-loss Big 12 champion (Oklahoma or Oklahoma State) moving past Notre Dame.  The Irish will have to hope for whoever wins the Bedlam matchup this weekend to fall in next weekend’s Big 12 championship.

Here is the updated Notre Dame road map to the College Football Playoff after the week 12 CFP rankings were released with all percentages courtesy of the FiveThirtyEight college football tracker.

Kirk Herbstreit has new top six following Oregon’s blowout loss

What is your top six after Oregon and Michigan State were both routed Saturday?

Saturday saw some favorites like Georgia and Ohio State roll while others were tested a bit (Alabama), and one was run out of the building (Oregon).

What did those results have on the College Football Playoff rankings that will be released on Tuesday?

Is Cincinnati as good as in by winning out now?

Is Notre Dame really a threat to crash the CFP party?

We’re not certain yet but can use the guidance of a few experts who have released their new rankings following the weekend.

Kirk Herbstreit released his new top-six on Sunday morning and here is how they look:

Joel Klatt releases his new college football top-10 rankings

What is your current top 10?

If you were hoping for mayhem in college football this weekend you got it.  Although Ohio State’s win over Michigan State wasn’t an upset by any means, the 56-7 thrashing was eye-opening.

As was the slightly favored Utah Utes blowing out No. 3 Oregon 38-7 in Salt Lake City.

So what will happen in the rankings and who is playing the best football in the nation as we head to the final week of the regular season?

Joel Klatt of Fox Sports released his top-ten rankings on Saturday night.  Here is how those appeared:

Notre Dame’s updated path to the College Football Playoff

It might not be likely but you’re at least able to see a path now.

Oh, and Go @thebadgerswire! Huge Wisconsin fans here.

Notre Dame got through the their road test at Virginia without issue as they steamrolled the shorthanded Cavaliers, 28-3.  It wasn’t the prettiest of showings but it worked as the Fighting Irish defense but on a display against freshman quarterback Jay Woolfolk.

Now Notre Dame will sit and wait to see where they check-in with the latest set of College Football rankings as the new ones will be released on Tuesday night.

As long as they don’t fall though (and why would they?) the Irish should be in as good of shape as they could possibly ask for at this point.
