Hall of Famer Randy Moss shows Mike Evans love on Twitter

Hall of Famer Randy Moss paid respect to Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans on Twitter after the Buccaneers player accomplished this feat.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers manhandled the Atlanta Falcons in Week 12, upsetting their division rival 35-22 on the road.

Head coach Bruce Arians said it was their best complete team game this season, and it’s hard to argue against that. After throwing two first-quarter interceptions, quarterback Jameis Winston calmed down, finishing the day with three touchdown passes — two to wide receiver Chris Godwin and one to ** double checks box score** Vita Vea!

And, even though he finished with just four catches for 50 yards and no touchdowns, Bucs receiver Mike Evans made history of his own during the win. Evans needed just seven yards yesterday to join Hall of Famer Randy Moss as the only receivers in NFL history to begin their careers with six-straight 1,000-yard seasons. With his 50, Evans now has 1,043 yards on the year.

After Evans reached the milestone yesterday, he took to Twitter afterwards, where he and Moss had a great exchange.

I wrote over the weekend how Evans could potentially make a run at Jerry Rice’s seemingly unbreakable record of 11-straight 1,000-yard seasons. Evans is just entering the prime of his career and shows no signs of slowing down, barring injury, of course.

Remember, Rice’s streak only came to an end in 1997 because he tore up his knee in the season opener after Warren Sapp tackled Rice by the face mask  during a reverse.

Hopefully, Evans won’t suffer a freak injury like that anytime soon.

Let’s just hope, too, that the Bucs can start winning on a consistent basis. Evans has had nine career games with 150-plus receiving yards, but the team is just 1-8 in those games.

For a guy like Evans, winning is what matters most. Still, it’s nice to see him and Moss acknowledging each others’ greatness. After all, they are in a class of their own.

The big man, who has lined up on offensive plays before during the season, was lined up in the backfield as a fullback, but broke through the defensive line and found himself open for a touchdown pass from Jameis Winston.

Twitter reacts to Chris Godwin’s 71-yard touchdown

See how Twitter reacted to the long 71-yard touchdown reception by Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston, who threw four interceptions last week against the New Orleans Saints, threw one on the team’s opening drive today against the Atlanta Falcons, on the Bucs’ second play from scrimmage.

But, as has usually been the case with Winston, he followed up a bad play with a spectacular one, like this 71-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Chris Godwin on the Bucs’ very next drive.

For Godwin, it was his eighth touchdown reception of the season, a new career high for the third-year receiver out of Penn State. The 71 yards also puts him at 958 on the season, meaning he’s inching closer to the first 1,000-yard receiving season of his career.

Ndamukong Suh has a message for those underestimating the Bucs

See what Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh had to say on Instagram after the team’s latest loss.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be just 3-7, but their rush defense has been one of the best in the league this season.

Currently, the Bucs rush D ranks second in the NFL, allowing just 80.9 yards per game. But their stellar play has often been overshadowed by the glaring deficiencies in their secondary, which is 31st in the league right now.

Still, teams shouldn’t underestimate this Bucs team, no matter their record. And, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh took to Instagram the other day to offer a not so subtle warning to the rest of the league.

Suh and the Bucs have a date with the Atlanta Falcons in Week 12. Atlanta has won it’s past two games by outscoring their opponents 55-12. Their defense has 11.0 sacks and four interceptions in those wins.

The next season of the Netflix series “Stranger Things” should really just be a documentary about Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston, because this guy seems to have some of the strangest luck around.

Winston entered Sunday with 14 interceptions on the year, and threw two against the New Orleans Saints today before halftime. The first one came through no fault of his own, after tight end O.J. Howard made a bumbling attempt to catch the ball.

The second came courtesy of another strange play.

Twitter goes insane over O.J. Howard’s crazy turnover against the Saints

The much-maligned Buccaneers quarterback who entered today’s game against the New Orleans Saints having thrown 14 interceptions on the year collected his 15th in the first quarter, through no fault of his own, however.

Take a look at this insane play, where Winston hits tight end O.J. Howard who fumbles the ball on his body only to have it intercepted by New Orleans.

New Orleans would score on the very next play with Drew Brees hitting wide receiver Michael Thomas for a 16-yard touchdown that put the Saints up 13-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Suffice it to say, Twitter went crazy over Howard’s careless turnover. Take a look at what they had to say.

The New Orleans Saints will face off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday in Week 11, and for the 7-2 Saints, a win feels like a must after losing at home last Sunday to the Atlanta Falcons, who entered the game at just 1-7.

After the San Francisco 49ers lost Monday night to the Seattle Seahawks to drop to 8-1, that loss to Atlanta has become all the more costly for New Orleans. Losing to a lesser opponent for the second-straight game, especially one in their own division, would further hamper their hopes for a high playoff seed. Tampa Bay can expect New Orleans to come out attacking the young secondary.

But, before Sunday’s action rolls around, many players are likely still processing what happened last night in the Thursday night matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns. In the closing seconds of that game, Browns defensive end Myles Garrett got into a scuffle on the ground with Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph, which eventually led to Garrett ripping off Rudolph’s helmet and smashing it over his head.

The NFL reacted today by suspending Garrett indefinitely, but, it seems one Saints player thinks Garrett isn’t entirely at fault for what transpired. See what defensive end Cameron Jordan had to say on Twitter.

While Rudolph may have played a part in starting the fight, we’ve seen plenty of brawls before, and none have escalated to the level like we saw last night. Garrett needs to know when to stop and move on.

He’ll have plenty of time now to learn that lesson.

The NFL world was stunned last night when Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett ripped the helmet off Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph and then pummel him with it.

The play came with just seconds remaining in the game. The Browns ended up winning 21-7 to pull themselves to 4-6 and remain alive in the playoff race. But, naturally, the all-out melee was all anybody wanted to talk about after the game.

Today, the NFL wasted no time in handing out discipline to Garrett and a few other players involved in last night’s fight.

Take a look.

The play by Garrett was completely inexcusable and there’s no way to defend it. Football players put themselves at enough risk each game when they are on the field. As a fraternity of players, you understand injuries in the game happen, but you never want to intentionally end a man’s career (or life).

Perhaps not surprisingly, one name that kept popping up on Twitter in the aftermath of the Garrett incident was Ndamukong Suh’s. The Bucs defensive tackle has had his own history of suspensions for dirty plays, the most infamous one coming after he stomped on a player back in 2011.

Say what you want about Suh, but he never used a helmet as a weapon.

Still, comedian Tom Segura — who has several hilarious Netflix specials you should check out — couldn’t help but make a joke about Suh and Garrett.

I have a feeling even Suh wouldn’t condone behavior like that. I’m sure he’ll be asked his opinion sometime this week.

For now, though, the title of league’s dirtiest player belongs to a guy in Cleveland.

Now that the NFL has entered the second half of the regular season, things are beginning to ramp up as teams compete for coveted playoff positions. Players are also starting to rally fans for votes to this year’s Pro Bowl, which will be held at Camping World Stadium, in Orlando, FL.

Here’s everything you need to know to vote your favorite Seahawks’ onto the Pro Bowl roster.

For the third season in a row, voting will be open for four weeks, with the polls closing on Thursday, Dec. 12.

Fans can vote multiple times for their favorite players, using a number of different mediums, including the league’s official website page at NFL.com/ProBowlVote.

In addition, fans can also vote directly on Twitter starting Nov. 28. All tweets should include the first and last name of the player, official Twitter handle (if available) or a hashtag including the player’s first and last name. All tweets must also include the #ProBowlVote hashtag.

The 2020 Pro Bowl is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. PT on Jan. 26 and will be televised on ABC, ESPN, ESPN Deportes and Disney XD.

Pro Bowl rosters will be announced Tuesday, Dec.17 on the NFL Network’s Pro Bowl special “NFL Total Access: Pro Bowl Players Revealed.”

Russell Wilson and Richard Sherman exchange jerseys post-game

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and San Francisco 49ers defensive back Richard Sherman exchanged jerseys postgame on Monday.

The Seattle Seahawks won a thriller in Santa Clara on Monday night, beating the undefeated San Francisco 49ers in overtime, 27-24.

The battles between these two teams go back a long way, but perhaps the most important player in this rivalry is Richard Sherman, who had the infamous tipped pass in the NFC championship game that resulted in an interception and a win for the Seahawks. Seattle, of course, won the Super Bowl two weeks later.

Sherman eventually joined forces with the 49ers after getting released by Seattle, and has since drummed up controversy regarding his relationship with coach Pete Carroll and Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson.

While Monday’s game featured plenty of theatrics, it was a post-game moment that caught many people’s attention: Wilson and Sherman, embraced in a hug, exchanging their jerseys.

Sherman has long been an outspoken figure in the NFL, and many of his comments criticized coach Carroll’s alleged favoritism of Wilson over other — more outspoken — players on the Super Bowl-winning team, including Marshawn Lynch.

However, it appears Wilson and Sherman were able to bury the hatchet, a great sign of maturity for both players.

“Good moment, really good moment,” Carroll said on 710 ESPN Tuesday morning. “These guys are growing up. They’ve arrived, they’re real legitimate factors in this league. To demonstrate that kind of character and class is really what you hope to see.”

The Seahawks and 49ers will meet again in Week 17, this time in Seattle. That game could have serious playoff implications depending on how these two teams do down the stretch, but regardless it should be another fun, exciting game of football from two of the best in the NFL.
