Bill Barnwell looks at Ndamukong Suh’s Hall of Fame chances

Has Ndamukong Suh done enough to earn a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers re-signed defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh this offseason to a one-year deal, hoping the former All-Pro can help the Bucs maintain their ranking as the top rush defense in the league.

While Suh may be looking for a bounce-back year in 2020 according to ESPN’s Jenna Laine, Bill Barnwell takes a deeper look at Suh’s career, and wonders whether or not he is a Hall of Famer.

Barnwell believes Suh is in the running for a gold jacket, giving him a 40 to 69 percent chance of ending up in the Hall of Fame.

Per Barnwell:

“Timing can matter for players, and it has been weird for Suh. The 2010 No. 2 pick was a four-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro during his five seasons in Detroit. He looked to be firmly on a Hall trajectory at that point, but over the ensuing five seasons, he has just one Pro Bowl appearance. He has stayed healthy and productive, so that hasn’t been the issue. The Nebraska product nearly won a Super Bowl with the Rams in 2018, but a win with the Bucs and one more All-Pro appearance would greatly help his chances.”

Suh’s years with the Lions are perhaps his most memorable, but as Barnwell rightly points out, he’s struggled to replicate his success in Detroit in the years following his departure.

A Super Bowl win with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would certainly look good on his resume.

Just Ndamukong Suh enjoying some brunch

Bucs DT Ndamukong Suh showed off his brunch on Instagram.

Ndamukong Suh will soon be joining his teammates in Tampa for training camp, the first step in the team’s quest to not only make it back to the postseason for the first time since 2007, but also become the first team ever to play a Super Bowl in their home stadium. Super Bowl LV will take place at Raymond James Stadium following the 2020 regular season.

Suh has had an eventful offseason, which included re-signing with the Bucs. He’s gotten married, helped his dad around the house, and even had a little biking adventure recently.

On Sunday, Suh’s Instagram food exploits continued as he showed off his crazy brunch.

Take a look.

Ndamukong Suh is here to provide you with a much-needed laugh

Bucs DT Ndamukong Suh gave fans a good laugh on Instagram while trying to fit his big frame into a small car.

Ndamukong Suh is a force to be reckoned with on the field, and now that he’ll be coming back to the Bucs on a one-year deal, this defense could surprise a lot of people next year.

While Suh may be an intimidating figure for opposing players on the field, off of it, he’s a fun-loving guy who likes to let loose and just be himself. And the defensive tackle seems to know that many people could use a good laugh right now, given the state of our country, coupled with the coronavirus pandemic.

Suh took to Instagram today to provide his followers with a much-needed laugh along with his buddy. Take a look.

It’s been a busy offseason for the big man. On top of traveling the world, Suh also walked down the aisle the other week, quarantine be damned.

Ndamukong Suh wants us all to be a part of the change

Bucs DT Ndamukong Suh posted a powerful video on his Instagram to highlight what has been happening in our country.

There’s no denying that 2020 has been a rough year so far. The coronavirus pandemic and lockdown has brought life to a standstill the past several months, and with the death of George Floyd last week at the hands of a white Minneapolis police officer, the topic of racism in our country has once again been brought to the forefront.

With protests taking place around the nation in the aftermath of Floyd’s death, celebrities and athletes alike have been speaking out about the current state of our society.

Bucs defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh posted Nike’s recent video message on Instagram urging everyone to be a part of the change. Take a look.

The Ndamukong Suh food tour continues

Bucs DT Ndamukong Suh continued to post some mouth-watering food photos on Instagram.

Bucs defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh posted a touching wedding video on Instagram after walking down the aisle last weekend and tying the knot. But, the best part about following the All-Pro on social media is that he posts ridiculous photos of food.

Yes, I know food photos on Instagram is the biggest cliche around, but who cares when it looks this good? Take a look at some recent shots from Suh’s Instagram story.

By the way, the music playing in the above video was “Big Poppa” from The Notorious B.I.G. Perfect song to capture the mood when cutting a brisket.

A colorful meal is a healthy meal… unless it’s Skittles.

Ndamukong Suh is all about that bike life

Bucs DT Ndamukong Suh hit the bike trail this past weekend.

NFL players are having to find new ways to stay in shape this offseason while facilities remain shutdown, and Ndamukong Suh has found the perfect routine to help him stay fit.

The Bucs defensive tackle, who signed a one-year deal to return to Tampa Bay in 2020, hit the bike trail this weekend in Oregon, putting in a good workout followed by some good eating.

Take a look at some pictures and screenshots from Suh’s Instagram.

Suh’s been having a pretty good time on the bike this offseason it seems.

It’s father and son time for Ndamukong Suh

Bucs DT Ndamukong Suh took to Instagram to show him spending some time with family and helping his dad with some chores.

Ndamukong Suh opted to return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a one-year deal, and his return coupled with that of Jason Pierre-Paul and Shaq Barrett makes the Bucs defense a formidable foe for offenses in 2020.

Suh helped turn the Buccaneers into the league’s best rush defense last year, and while he may be a force to be feared on the field, off of it, he’s just a normal brother and son.

The All-Pro defensive tackle, who has been posting some ridiculously good food pics lately, took to Instagram today to show him spending some time with family, even helping his dad install a new air conditioning unit. Don’t worry, Suh has an engineering degree so he knows what he’s doing.

Take a look at some of the screenshots from his story below.

Ndamukong Suh’s food steals the show in his Mother’s Day post

Tampa Bay Bucs DT Ndamukong Suh posted a touching Mother’s Day message on Instagram, and his food was the star of the show.

NFL players everywhere are sharing Mother’s Day posts on social media today, and rightfully so. The coronavirus pandemic has put life on hold for everyone, which means no brunch outings this year for mom.

That doesn’t mean you can’t cook up something special for her right in your own home, though, which seems to be what Chef (Ndamukong) Suh did. The big man, who likes to conduct business while having brinner, posted a Mother’s Day message on his Instagram, and while he’s a good son for doing that, the true star of his post is his meal.

Take a look.

Looks like a nice healthy meal for Suh, which seems to be a trend for Bucs players right now as we near training camp. With Tom Brady under center and the Bucs defense returning key veterans like Suh, Jason Pierre-Paul and Shaq Barrett, Tampa Bay has Super Bowl goals in 2020.

My goal is to get that recipe from Suh.

Peter King thinks Ndamukong Suh returned to the Bucs for this reason

Find out what Peter King of NBC Sports says the tipping point may have been for Ndamukong Suh’s return to the Buccaneers.

While Tom Brady is the free agent signing everybody wants to talk about, and rightfully so, the Buccaneers made a number of other big moves that have them looking formidable entering the 2020 season, like the tagging of NFL sack leader Shaq Barrett and the two-year deal they struck with Jason Pierre-Paul.

Not to be overlooked, though, is the re-signing of defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. The number two pick in the 2010 draft came to the Bucs last offseason to replace Gerald McCoy, and helped turn the Bucs’ rush defense into the league’s best.

While Ian Rapoport’s tweet above indicates Suh wanted to return to play for Todd Bowles, Peter King of NBC Sports believes Suh’s return to Tampa was sparked by another reason.

Per King:

“I think the first signing that illustrates how much a player wanted to play with Tom Brady was Ndamukong Suh’s one-year, $8-million deal with the Bucs. One team talking with Suh believes playing with Brady was the tipping point in Tampa Bay’s favor.”

Suh is still after that elusive Super Bowl title, having come up short in Super Bowl LIII when his Los Angeles Rams fell to, you guessed it, Tom Brady’s New England Patriots.

If you can’t beat them, join them.

This old clip of Ndamukong Suh talking about Tom Brady will make your day

Before they were teammates in Tampa, Ndamukong Suh and Tom Brady were rivals, and Suh talked about Brady prior to Super Bowl LIII.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh struck a one-year deal yesterday that will see the big man back with the Bucs defense next season.

Suh was a welcome addition to Tampa Bay last offseason after the team parted ways with franchise-favorite Gerald McCoy after nine seasons. (Suh was famously selected one spot ahead of McCoy in the 2010 NFL draft.) In his first season with the Bucs, Suh helped the Buccaneers become the league’s best rush defense, so his return is something to be celebrated.

But, Suh isn’t the only big fish the Bucs landed since free agency began. Quarterback Tom Brady is now a Buccaneer, meaning he and Suh are teammates after spending years as rivals while Brady was with the New England Patriots and Suh with the Miami Dolphins.

Now teammates, Suh will be spending less time tackling Brady and more time high-fiving him (we hope). But, if you want to see how Suh views his new quarterback, take a look at this hilarious clip from Super Bowl LIII media day, where Suh, then a Los Angeles Ram, spoke about going up against the Patriots’ Golden Boy.

For those who don’t feel like sitting through 30-second ad just to watch a 21-second clip, here’s an excerpt of what Suh had to say:

“By no means am I ever afraid of going against [Brady]. I played him early in my career. So, I guess the shining bright star he is kind of faded away many years ago.”

Knowing that Suh and Brady are now teammates just makes me so happy. Unfortunately, I doubt other NFL teams are as thrilled by the prospect of a Bucs offense led by Brady and a defense led by Suh.
