During the Denver Broncos‘ game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, defensive lineman Malcolm Roach lost his helmet during a play.
Typically that wouldn’t be a problem, he could simply retrieve it and put it back on before the next play. In this particular instance, however, the Raiders were rushing up to the line to snap the ball so they could spike it and stop the clock. Roach couldn’t go back across the line to retrieve his helmet and risk being penalized for lining up offsides at the snap.
So the lineman waited at the line while a teammate — it appears to be linebacker Justin Strnad — grabbed his helmet and ran back across the line. Strnad tossed the helmet to Roach and he got it on just before the snap.
Vic Lombardi of AltitudeTV captured the moment and shared it on his Twitter/X page:
Losing his helmet was incidental and he got it back on before play resumed, so Roach was not penalized for the incident. Roach finished the day with three tackles and a sack in a 29-19 win.
Watch all 27 minutes of the insane ending to the Dallas #Cowboys’ Week 12 win over the Washington #Commanders.
Fans of the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders were on the edge of their seats while they viewed the incredibly long fourth quarter in Sunday’s NFC East matchup at Northwest Stadium.
The Commanders made a dramatic late-game comeback against the Cowboys when quarterback Jayden Daniels hit wide receiver Terry McLaurin for a long touchdown that pulled Washington within a point of Dallas.
But, when Commander’s kicker Austin Seibert missed his extra point attempt after McLaurin’s score, the Cowboys kept their one-point advantage.
Dallas took advantage of a botched onside kick in the final seconds of the game to extend their lead when Juanyeh Thomas made a slick recovery that led to a nifty return touchdown.
Take a look at the footage of the ending, which was posted on YouTube by the NFL after the game:
Expect both the Cowboys and Commanders to bring an extra edge to their next meeting on January 5 after this insane finish in Week 12.
Broncos QB Bo Nix connects with Courtland Sutton for a second time!

Following the success of his “Paintin’ Manning” commercial, Peyton Manning is back with a new ad for Nationwide.
After debuting a funny new “Paintin’ Manning” commercial with Nationwide earlier this year, Peyton Manning has returned with another witty ad.
In his latest commercial for the insurance company, Peyton is “Calculatin’ Manning” in a classroom.
“Nationwide is so much more than a great insurance company,” Manning says in the commercial. “They’re one of America’s largest financial services companies, like how I’m more than Peyton Manning. I’m also Calculatin’ Manning. Yup, [the] math checks out.”
It’s not quite as good as the “Paintin’ Manning” version from earlier this year, but it’s still witty. Here’s the 15-second version of Manning’s latest commercial with Nationwide:
“These new ads showcase how people are frequently so much more than what they appear to be,” Manning said in a press release. “And Nationwide is so much more than an auto and home insurance company. They’re also a financial services giant who can help customers with things like planning for retirement and protecting their long-term goals.”
Manning, 48, retired from the NFL after winning Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos in 2016. Eight years after his retirement from pro football, Manning remains one of the most marketable figures in sports.
From Tom Brady to Colin Cowherd, the NFL world reacted in a big way to QB Bo Nix’s impressive performance.
After Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix had a historic performance against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 11, NFL pundits have offered their takes on the first-year signal caller. Here’s a recap of the reactions this week.

Chris Simms breaks down Bo Nix’s ‘surgically explosive’ performance
Former NFL quarterback Chris Simms has seen the difference for the Broncos offense. “I just love the look of Bo Nix, I really do,” said Simms. “I love the offense they’re running, too.”
Shannon Sharpe, Chad Johnson chime in on Bo Nix’s big game
The two former pass catchers reacted to Nix’s huge stat line from the Falcons game. “(Nix) was one of three Bronco rookie quarterbacks to ever throw four touchdowns in a game,” noted Sharpe.
Colin Cowherd says Bo Nix is a top-12 quarterback in the NFL
After Nix had his highest stats of the season, ESPN insider Adam Schefter marveled at the young quarterback. “Rookies don’t do that,” Schefter remarked on the Pat McAfee Show. “That’s over 80 percent completion rate, four touchdowns, no interceptions. Bo Nix is getting better and better and better.”
Jamie Erdahl says Bo Nix was the NFL’s big winner in Week 11
Former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky said that Nix is having a great season. “He’s got control and he has the answers,” said Orlovsky. “Control of everything they’re trying to do in Denver offensively.”
PFF reacts to Bo Nix’s play and Broncos’ impressive offensive line
Although the rest of the NFL is giving Nix all the love, PFF realized that the Broncos’ offensive line is a key part of the success Nix has been having throughout the season.
Tim Jenkins breaks down film of Bo Nix’s best game yet
Tim Jenkins called Nix’s historic performance “the best performance I’ve seen out of a rookie quarterback this season, and if I’m really being honest, the best performance I’ve seen from a Broncos quarterback in a long, long, long time.”
Kurt Benkert reviews Bo Nix’s great game vs. Falcons
Former NFL quarterback Kurt Benkert broke down Nix’s incredible performance against Atlanta in an 18-minute video.
Doug Farrar breaks down Bo Nix’s recent rise
New All-22 video for @AthlonSports: Bo Nix’s ascent as the @Broncos‘ franchise QB after a long post-Peyton Manning search is happening. “Peyton Manning retired after the 2015 season, and from 2016-2023, the Denver Broncos threw 13 different quarterbacks into the fire to try and replace him,” said Farrar. “But now with 2024 first-round draft pick Bo Nix, Denver may finally have a guy to mercifully end that quarterback curse.”
Chris Long reacts to Bo Nix’s impressive improvement this season
Super Bowl champion Chris Long praised Nix, as an older rookie quarterback who is hitting his stride with head coach Sean Payton.
Chase Daniel says Bo Nix should be Rookie of the Year
“In my opinion, (Nix is) right now neck and neck with (Commanders quarterback) Jayden Daniels in the Offensive Rookie of the Year category,” said the former QB.
Nix is certainly making a serious case for Offensive Rookie of the Year. Can he continue this high-quality quarterback play through the rest of the season?
Brian Baldinger breaks down key plays involving Bo Nix, Garett Bolles, Pat Surtain and Ja’Quan McMillian from Sunday’s big win.
Following the Denver Broncos‘ big win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 11, NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger took to Twitter/X to break down some of the key performances from the 38-6 victory.
First up is Baldinger reacting to quarterback Bo Nix leading a pair of scoring drives in the third quarter.
“This throw right here to Devaughn Vele is just a dime … the throw is perfect,” Baldinger said of Nix’s strike.
“His confidence level was just at another level,” Drew Brees said of Bo Nix’s performance against the Falcons on Sunday.
Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix has been turning heads with his play in recent weeks, and former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees recently weighed in on the rookie’s rise.
During an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd on Monday, Brees noted that Nix’s big game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday was actually set up by a loss last week.
“The biggest thing for Bo Nix is what happened last week against the Kansas City Chiefs,” Brees told Cowherd. “Even though they lost that game, it certainly was through no fault of his own. He put his team in a position to go win that game in the end and they got the field goal block. But from a confidence perspective, you basically went into Arrowhead and playing against the gold standard of organizations here over the last few years and you put your team in position to go win that game. So I think coming into this game, I think his confidence level was just at another level.”
Brees went on to praise Nix for making plays without having elite weapons around him, and he noted that the rookie has a great coach and playcaller in Sean Payton (who coached Brees in New Orleans).
Nix is certainly trending in the right direction, and getting praise from a future Hall of Famer will only increase the QB’s stock going forward.
The 2023 Pro Bowl alternate continues turning heads as he delivers pancake blocks on a near-weekly basis with the Broncos.
Meinerz played a role in running back Javonte Williams’ team-effort touchdown run, and he also delivered two big blocks against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
In the third quarter, Meinerz blocked Falcons linebacker Kaden Elliss down field, then he turned his attention toward lighting up Atlanta safety Jessie Bates. Those blocks helped wide receiver Troy Franklin score on a screen play to extend the lead to 28-6.
Here’s the play, courtesy of the team’s official Twitter/X page. Meinerz is the right guard, No. 77:
Meinerz delivered another pancake block on linebacker Nate Landman on a different screen pass:
We saw some of the best executed screens I’ve seen the Broncos ever run on Sunday. Watch Quinn Meinerz pancake the linebacker opening a path for Javonte Williams. pic.twitter.com/pHuUp66dZm
Meinerz (6-3, 320 pounds) has clearly established himself as one of the best guards in the NFL, and he should earn his first career Pro Bowl nod this fall.
