Vegas Golden Knights at Los Angeles Kings odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Los Angeles Kings odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (20-12-0) visit the Los Angeles Kings (14-11-5) Tuesday at Crypto.com Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Golden Knights vs. Kings odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Golden Knights were red-hot before the holiday break, winning eight of the past 10 games, although they did fall to the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3 in the game prior to the hiatus on Dec. 21.

The Kings won at the Washington Capitals 3-2 in their last game, which was Dec. 19. That capped off a 4-1-1 stretch for the Caps in their final six games before the holiday/COVID-19 pause.

Golden Knights at Kings projected goalies

Laurent Brossoit (6-3-0, 2.72 GAA, .904 SV%) vs. Jonathan Quick (8-6-4, 2.19 GAA, .930 SV%)

Brossoit is expected to hold down the fort as G Robin Lehner has been nursing a lower-body injury lately. The backup Brossoit allowed 4 goals on 19 shots in the 4-3 loss to Tampa before the break, but he has won five of his past seven starts overall.

Quick was shelled for 5 goals on 33 shots in his most recent showing in Carolina, a 5-1 loss Dec. 18. He hasn’t faced the Golden Knights yet this season but was a dismal 0-4-0 with a 5.81 GAA and .800 SV% in four starts against them last season.

Golden Knights at Kings odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Kings 2

Money line

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-135) have been the choice of the public, and that worries me a bit.

Quick was atrocious for the Kings against the Knights last season, which is driving the thinking here. These two clubs already played once this season and Los Angeles won rather handily 6-2 in its season opener Oct. 14.

Against the spread

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS -1.5 (+180) is worth playing lightly as I believe a late empty-net goal gets it done in the newly named Crypto.com arena.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-125) is the play, although again, I think it will take a late empty-netter to get the Over across the finish line.

I feel good about the fact neither of these teams have been touched by the COVID-19 bug too much yet. Only Kings D Drew Doughty is missing for the home side. The two teams should be able to produce at an optimal level after plenty of rest.

The Over is 4-0 in the past four head-to-head meetings, and 7-1 in the past eight battles in L.A.

Tampa Bay Lightning at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks, and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Tampa Bay Lightning at Vegas Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Tampa Bay Lightning (19-6-4) and Vegas Golden Knights (20-11-0) meet Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. Below, we look at the Lightning vs. Golden Knights odds and lines and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

Tampa Bay is 7-1 over its last eight games and has allowed just 2.13 goals per contest over that stretch. The Lightning had a scheduled Saturday game at Colorado postponed; they are playing their first game since Thursday.

The Golden Knights are coming off shootout wins on Friday and Sunday, and they tote a five-game win streak into Tuesday’s home game. Vegas is 5-1 over its last six games on home ice. At 3.48 goals per game, the Knights rank fourth in the NHL in scoring. Over its last 22 games, Vegas has cranked out 4.09 goals per game.

Lightning at Golden Knights projected goalies

Andrei Vasilevskiy (16-4-3, 2.10 GAA, .928 SV%) vs. Robin Lehner (14-9-0, 3.03 GAA, .905 SV%)

Vasilevskiy stopped 25-of-26 shots in his last start (Friday vs. Ottawa). He owns a hefty .945 SV% over his last nine games.

Lehner was solid earlier this season (.917 SV% through Nov. 18), but he has struggled of late. The 30-year-old netminder owns an .883 SV% over his last 10 games. He owns a shaky .855 mark over his last three home starts.

Lightning at Golden Knights odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Lightning 4, Golden Knights 3

Money line

Both teams have been solid of late, but the price on the Lightning is worth a look here. Tampa Bay has been exceptional in the 5-on-5 game of late, and Vasilevskiy has been tremendous. He’s a difference maker here.

Vegas F Mark Stone was a late scratch in the Knights’ tough 4-3 win on Sunday. And with the league nixing Wednesday and Thursday games, this game now sends Vegas into a break – so it may not make sense to rush the Knights’ captain back if the extra time would serve his overall health.

TAMPA BAY (+105) is a slight lean.

Against the spread

PASS: the price on insuring a Lightning play with a goal-and-a-half is too steep.

Over/Under

The Over is 6-1 in the Lightning’s last seven games versus teams with a winning record. The Over is 4-0 in Tampa Bay’s last four games as a road underdog. And it is 4-1 in the Golden Knights’ last five contests played on one day of rest.

Both offenses are dialed in and creating good scoring chances. Before being shut out at Ottawa Dec. 11, Tampa Bay had averaged 4.29 goals per game over its previous seven road tilts. BACK THE OVER 5.5 (-125).

Calgary Flames at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Calgary Flames at Vegas Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Calgary Flames (15-4-5) visit the Vegas Golden Knights (13-10-0) Sunday at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Flames vs. Golden Knights odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Flames have won three nail-biters in a row, topping the Pittsburgh Penguins at home by a 2-1 score in a shootout Nov. 29 and then winning both ends of a back-to-back Thursday and Friday in Southern California against the Los Angeles Kings (3-2) and Anaheim Ducks (4-3, shootout).

The Golden Knights roughed up the Arizona Coyotes 7-1 on the road Friday night behind G Laurent Brossoit. Vegas has scored two or more goals in 14 straight games since being shut out in Toronto Nov. 2.

Flames at Golden Knights projected goalies

Jacob Markstrom (10-4-4, 1.76 GAA, .939 SV%, 5 SO) vs. Robin Lehner (9-9-0, 3.08 GAA, .909 SV%)

Markstrom turned aside 40 of the 42 shots he faced in Thursday’s win in Los Angeles has allowed three or fewer goals in 10 consecutive starts.

Lehner was knocked around for five goals on 33 shots in a 6-5 loss at Anaheim Wednesday and has dropped four of his past six starts while allowing three or more goals in each of the four losses.

Flames at Golden Knights odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Flames 4, Golden Knights 2

Money line

The FLAMES (+105) are a decent play as short ‘dogs on the road behind a red-hot goaltender playing against a Golden Knights side that just isn’t playing very good hockey.

Against the spread

The Flames +1.5 (-270) are a little too expensive on the puck line, as there is no way to justify spending this much for such little return. Just play the Flames on the money line for a much better value.

PASS.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-115) is worth a look, even with Markstrom between the pipes. He has been a brick wall for the Flames, shutting everything down, but the offense should be able to find the corners of the net against Lehner, who has been very giving lately.

This one will go Over, but it won’t go Over by much, so just consider a small-unit wager.

Detroit Red Wings at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Detroit Red Wings at Vegas Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Detroit Red Wings (8-8-2) visit the Vegas Golden Knights (9-7-0) Thursday at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Red Wings vs. Golden Knights odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Red Wings have dropped two in a row to start their current four-game road trip, losing 5-2 at the Dallas Stars Tuesday, and 5-3 at the Columbus Blue Jackets Monday. The Over hit in each of the outings.

The Golden Knights suffered a 5-2 loss at the Red Wings Nov. 7 in the season’s first meeting between the two clubs. Detroit G Thomas Greiss outdueled Vegas G Laurent Brossoit in a battle of backup goaltenders.

Red Wings at Golden Knights projected goalies

Thomas Greiss (4-5-0, 3.20 GAA, .907 SV%) vs. Robin Lehner (7-6-0, 2.93 GAA, .917 SV%)

Greiss was on the short end of a 5-3 loss in Columbus Monday, making 33 saves in the setback. He has a 1-3-0 record with a 3.31 GAA and .909 SV% in four November outings, but the lone win was against VGK Nov. 7.

Lehner turned aside 38 of the 42 shots in a 4-2 loss against the Carolina Hurricanes Tuesday, snapping his four-game win streak. He has allowed 2 or fewer goals in three of his past five outings.

Red Wings at Golden Knights odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 5, Red Wings 3

Money line

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-175) are moderate favorites and a bit risky considering the Red Wings won the first meeting in Detroit. However, VGK is on its home ice, in front of its raucous fans, and Lehner will be in between the pipes, not Brossoit. Look for Vegas to return the favor.

Against the spread

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS -1.5 (+145) are a nice value at home. Four of the past five victories for Vegas have been by 2 or more goals, so if you like Vegas to win, you should like them on the puck line, too.

Over/Under

The OVER 5.5 (-115) is the lean as the Over has hit in four straight on the road for the Red Wings, and eight of the past 10 as road underdogs.

For the Golden Knights, the Over is 5-0 in the past five as favorites, while going 5-1-1 in the past seven games overall.

Carolina Hurricanes at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Carolina Hurricanes at Vegas Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Carolina Hurricanes (11-2-0) travel to meet the Vegas Golden Knights (9-6-0) Tuesday at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Hurricanes vs. Golden Knights odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Hurricanes opened the season on a perfect 9-for-9 run, but they’re just 2-2 across their last four outings, including three straight one-goal games. The Hurricanes won their most recent trip to Vegas, a pre-pandemic game on Feb. 8, 2020, by a 6-5 count in a shootout.

The Golden Knights outmuscled the Vancouver Canucks 7-4 last time out. Vegas has won three straight, averaging 4.7 goals per game while allowing 2.7 goals per outing. The Over is 5-1 in its past six outings.

Hurricanes at Golden Knights projected goalies

Frederik Andersen (9-2-0, 1.78 GAA, .938 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Robin Lehner (7-5-0, 2.83 GAA, .918 SV%)

Andersen has silenced fans that whined about the trade of Alex Nedeljkovic in a big hurry. He has allowed two or fewer goals in eight of his past 10 appearances, including 26 saves on 28 shots in a 2-1 loss at home against Philadelphia. The offense just didn’t support him very well then.

Lehner has won four straight starts, and offensive support hasn’t been an issue for him. The Golden Knights have provided a total of 21 goals, or 5.3 goals per game, in his previous four outings.

Hurricanes at Golden Knights odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Hurricanes 3

Money line

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (+110) are a golden value on The Strip as short ‘dogs. Not much is cheap in Vegas these days, but this is a value you need to jump on. Vegas has been humming offensively lately, and it really seems to respond when Lehner is in between the pipes.

Against the spread

The Golden Knights +1.5 (-230) are just too expensive on the puck line if it is insurance you are seeking. If you like Vegas, even a little, the value is playing them straight up.

PASS.

Over/Under

The OVER 5.5 (-135) has cashed in five of the past six for the Golden Knights, as they’ve posted four or more goals in four of the past six outings. VGK has just 3.1 goals per game overall, ranking a rather middling 14th, but they’re improving upon that day by day.

The Hurricanes rank ninth in the NHL with 3.5 goals per game, and the Golden Knights have been very giving. Yes, Carolina is No. 1 with just 1.9 goals per game allowed, but they haven’t faced a red-hot offense like Vegas in a while.

The Wild have won four consecutive games, including a 5-2 victory at the Arizona Coyotes Wednesday. Minnesota has scored 5 goals in each of its last four outings.

The Golden Knights registered a 4-2 victory over the Seattle Kraken Tuesday and have won three of their last four while covering the puck line in all three victories.

Wild at Golden Knights projected goalies

Cam Talbot (7-2-0, 2.85 GAA, .904 SV%) vs. Robin Lehner (6-5-0, 2.72 GAA, .919 SV%)

Talbot has won both of his starts in November, allowing 8 goals on 67 shots. Luckily for him, the Wild averaged 5.0 goals per game in those two outings. He hasn’t faced Vegas yet this season but was 3-1-2 with a 3.26 GAA and .898 SV% in six starts against the Knights in 2020-21.

Lehner has won three consecutive starts, allowing just 5 total goals on 104 shots. The Golden Knights have provided him with 4.7 goals per game during the three-game win streak.

Wild at Golden Knights odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Wild 3

Money line

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-112) welcome the red-hot Wild, but are lucky to catch the Wild on the second end of a back-to-back.

While Minnesota is 5-1 in its last six games in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation (four games in six days), Vegas won’t be outdone in that department. The Golden Knights are 12-3 in the past 15 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6.

Against the spread

The Wild +1.5 (-270) will come up just short in this one, but you can’t risk nearly three times your potential for a little bit of insurance.

PASS.

Over/Under

The OVER 5.5 (-115) is the best play on the board. Legs might be a bit tired and the defense could be a bit lazy as both teams are playing the fourth game in the past six days.

Minnesota also played Wednesday, and the Over is 7-1 in its past eight when working on no rest. The Over has cashed in four straight for Vegas while going 8-3-2 in its last 13 as a home favorite.

Vegas Golden Knights at Detroit Red Wings odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Detroit Red Wings odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (6-5-0) face the Detroit Red Wings (5-5-2) Sunday at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Golden Knights vs. Red Wings odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Golden Knights pounded the Montreal Canadiens by a 5-2 count Saturday, winning for the second time in three games on this current road trip. The last time VGK played consecutive days with no rest, it won 3-2 in overtime at the Dallas Stars Oct. 27.

The Red Wings slapped the brakes on a four-game skid, picking up a 4-3 overtime win at the Buffalo Sabres Saturday. This is the third back-to-back situation for Detroit. It is 1-1-0 in the previous two games when playing on no rest.

Golden Knights at Red Wings projected goalies

Laurent Brossoit (1-0-0, 2.97 GAA, .920 SV%) vs. Thomas Greiss (3-3-0, 3.45 GAA, .897 SV%)

Brossoit’s first start resulted in the 3-2 overtime win in Dallas Oct. 27 in the second end of the team’s only previous back-to-back. He has turned aside 46 of the 50 shots he has faced in 80-plus minutes so far this season.

Greiss has dropped each of his past two appearances, allowing five goals in each of the outings. He stopped 40 of the 41 shots in a win against the Vancouver Canucks Oct. 16 in his only previous start this season against a Western Conference team.

Golden Knights at Red Wings odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 5, Red Wings 2

Money line

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-140) are a decent play in this twilight affair in the Motor City. Vegas was blanked 4-0 in its first game on the road trip at the Toronto Maple Leafs, but it is averaging 5.0 goals per game across the past two outings. It appears news of acquiring C Jack Eichel in a trade has energized the offense.

Against the spread

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS -1.5 (+165) are worth a play as Vegas has outscored the opposition 10-3 across its past two wins. VGK is playing great hockey on the road trip, and it will be facing Detroit’s backup tendy, who has allowed 5 goals in each of his past two appearances. It’s a perfect recipe for another convincing win.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-110) is the lean, but it’s only worth a small-unit play. Vegas should do most of the heavy lifting here. There is concern with both teams playing in second ends of back-to-backs that the legs could be a little heavy on both sides. But it’s still early in the season, and we have backup goalies in net for both teams. We should see plenty of offense.

Vegas Golden Knights at Toronto Maple Leafs odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Toronto Maple Leafs odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (4-4-0) face the Toronto Maple Leafs (4-4-1) Tuesday at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Golden Knights vs. Maple Leafs odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Golden Knights posted their third consecutive victory as they edged the Anaheim Ducks 5-4 at home in a shootout as heavy favorites. While Vegas has won three in a row, it has outscored its opponents just 11-7.

The Maple Leafs started off super slow but have picked up the pace in a pair of Original Six battles against the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings. The team also welcomed Petr Mrazek back after a two-week injury to help against the Red Wings.

Golden Knights at Maple Leafs projected goalies

Robin Lehner (3-4-0, 3.00 GAA, .910 SV%) vs. Jack Campbell (3-2-1, 2.31 GAA, .918 SV%)

Lehner has won back-to-back starts. He allowed 5 total goals on 65 shots in a 3-1 victory at Colorado and a 5-4 shootout win over Anaheim last time out. He lost his only start against an Eastern Conference foe this year as he allowed 2 goals on 26 shots in a 2-0 setback against the New York Islanders Oct. 24.

Campbell turned aside 27 of 29 shots in a 3-2 overtime win against the Chicago Blackhawks Wednesday. He has allowed 3 or fewer goals in five of six starts to date.

Golden Knights at Maple Leafs odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 3, Maple Leafs 2

Money line

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (+155) are a value play on the road against the Maple Leafs. Yes, Toronto has won a pair of games against the Blackhawks and Red Wings, but those two teams have a combined record of 5-10-4 — not exactly the cream of the NHL crop.

Vegas has never won in three previous trips to Toronto but there’s a first time for everything.

Against the spread

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS +1.5 (-170) is a little on the expensive side, costing you almost two times your potential return, but it’s not terribly out of line if you’d like a little insurance.

Overtime or a shootout was required in two of Toronto’s previous three home victories against Vegas.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (+110) is worth a roll of the dice here, but only make a small-unit play.

The Over hit last time out for the Golden Knights, but the Under was 3-1 in the previous four outings. The Over cashed in Toronto’s last result, but the Under is 6-3 overall for the Leafs.

The Under has connected in three of the previous four meetings head-to-head in this series, too.

Vegas Golden Knights at Dallas Stars odds, picks, and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Dallas Stars odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (2-4-0) and Dallas Stars (3-3-0) square off Wednesday night at the American Airlines Center. Puck drop is slated for 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Golden Knights vs. Stars odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

Vegas is playing its third game in four days and is coming off an impressive 3-1 win at the Colorado Avalanche Tuesday. A banged-up Golden Knights team has struggled in the early going. Vegas went into last night’s game in Denver averaging just 2.0 goals per game.

The Stars last played Monday when they dropped a 4-1 decision at the Columbus Blue Jackets. Dallas has also been a bit of a disappointment in early-season games, especially offensively. The Stars have scored more than 2 goals just twice in six games.

Golden Knights at Stars projected goalies

Laurent Brossoit (0-0-0, 6.00 GAA, .875 SV%) vs. Anton Khudobin (1-1-0, 2.49 GAA, .909 SV%)

Brossoit is appearing in his first game since Oct. 14, when he stopped 14-of-16 shots against the Los Angeles Kings. The 28-year-old logged a .913 SV% and 2.75 GAA over 54 games for the Winnipeg Jets over the last three years.

Khudobin is making his second start and third appearance of the season. He stopped 24 of 27 shots faced in a 3-2 loss at the Ottawa Senators Oct. 17 in his last start.

Golden Knights at Stars odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Stars 4, Golden Knights 2

Money line

PASS: The Stars are the lean but there’s more value in getting them in a multi-score win.

Against the spread

Defensive-minded Dallas is coming off allowing four goals to Columbus. Look for a get-right effort against Vegas on the back end of road double.

BACK THE STARS -1.5 (+165).

Over/Under

The Under is 6-0 in the Stars’ six games this season but this game is priced right for buy-back.

Dallas is shooting a league-low 4.1% in 5-on-5 play. The Stars ranked fifth in converting power plays a year ago. There is some untapped offense on their end, and Vegas games have been contests with a lot of scoring chances at both ends of the ice.

TAKE THE OVER 5.5 (+100).

Vegas Golden Knights at Colorado Avalanche odds, picks, and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Colorado Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (1-4-0) and Colorado Avalanche (2-3-0) meet Tuesday night in Denver. Puck drop at Ball Arena is slated for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Golden Knights vs. Avalanche odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

Vegas has lost four of its first five games. Injuries have been a problem, and the Golden Knights have struggled offensively. F Max Pacioretty (shoulder) and F Mark Stone (lower body) are out, and that makes for 251 points from the last two seasons on the shelf. What’s left is averaging just 2.0 goals per game (28th NHL).

The Avs have been dealing with injuries and COVID-19 protocols. However, they got star F Nathan MacKinnon back from the COVID-19 list on a recent three-game road trip. McKinnon had a goal and 2 assists in a shutout win over the Tampa Bay Lightning Saturday.

Golden Knights at Avalanche projected goalies

Robin Lehner (1-4-0, 3.28 GAA, .908 SV%) vs. Darcy Kuemper (2-2-0, 3.51 GAA, .894 SV%)

Lehner stopped 24-of-26 in a 2-0 loss against the New York Islanders Sunday. He’s facing the Avs for the first time since Colorado got to him for 7 goals (5 even-strength, 2 power-play) in a May 30 playoff game.

Kuemper is off to a bit of a slow start. The 31-year-old clocked a .922 SV% over the last three seasons in Arizona. Kuemper has a solid history of performing well at home (.921 SV%).

Golden Knights at Avalanche odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 4, Golden Knights 2

Money line

Both teams are struggling, however, puck-possession and shot analytics indicate Colorado as at least playing a more representative brand of hockey thus far.

The Avs are returning home after a three-game road trip. Colorado was 8-0 last season in home games on the heels of multi-game trips.

BACK THE AVALANCHE (-190).

Against the spread

Consider splitting action on the Avs, going with a half-unit on the money line and a half-unit on the puck line. In those eight return-home victories last season, four wins were by margins of 3 goals or more. One of those — a 5-1 triumph — was against the Vegas Golden Knights.

TAKE COLORADO -1.5 (+133).

Over/Under

Respecting what looks to be a well-constructed number here: PASS.
