247Sports names this Ohio State football player as a transfer candidate

Is it too early to this this could be the case? #GoBucks

The college football season is just over halfway through, and there is already talk about which [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] players could be on the move.

I’m guilty of this thinking as well. I postulated that running back [autotag]Dallan Hayden[/autotag] could potentially move on, due to the staff’s unwillingness to use him when he’s clearly one of the better backs on the roster.

[autotag]Clint Brewster[/autotag] of 247Sports looked around the country at which quarterbacks could be on the move and he named Buckeye backup [autotag]Devin Brown[/autotag] as a potential transfer. The rationale is simple. Brewster explains that “after giving it his best shot, Brown is likely to hit the transfer portal and look elsewhere for greener pastures and a featured role.”

If this does come to fruition, Ohio State’s quarterback room isn’t barren. The Buckeyes will have Lincoln Kienholz in his second season and true freshman Air Noland. You’d have to expect a depth transfer similar to what we saw this offseason with the addition of [autotag]Tristan Gebbia[/autotag].

Watch: Ohio State’s Tristan Gebbia finds Noah Rogers for a long touchdown

Another freshman WR with a score #GoBucks

There isn’t just one star in [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag]’s 2023 wide receiver recruiting class, there’s multiple. Carnell Tate already showed his ability and it was [autotag]Noah Rogers[/autotag] turn to show what he could do.

Although it was late in the game, the reps still mattered. Transfer quarterback [autotag]Tristan Gebbia[/autotag] found Rogers on a slant to his right, and the early enrolling freshman did the rest.

Rogers eluded multiple defenders and while he almost fumbled, he managed to find the end zone. The receiver was ranked just a little higher than Tate, as the eight-best player at his position and 53rd overall according to the 247Sports composite.

Check out his juggling touchdown below.

New Ohio State quarterback sheds black stripe

Oregon State transfer, Tristan Gebbia hopes to coach someday when his playing days are over #GoBucks

Black stripe alert! Oregon State transfer, Tristan Gebbia, has been officially welcomed to the brotherhood.

Gebbia joined the Buckeyes via the transfer portal with a clear understanding he would compete for a backup spot. The former Beaver is a rare breed, someone who understands he’s been fortunate to play at the highest collegiate level and wants to prep for what’s next. For Gebbia, coaching the game he loves is the next desired step, and he believed Ohio State would be a great place to learn.

And who can argue? Ryan Day has been putting out NFL-level talent at the quarterback position for some time now. If Gebbia wants to coach after he hangs up the cleats, OSU is a great place to further his knowledge.

Of course, it never hurts to have experienced QBs in the room. Especially when the two guys competing for the starting job have little real game experience. And let’s not forget, Buckeye fans only need to go back to 2014 to know how important depth is at the quarterback position.

Ranking Ohio State quarterbacks by 247Sports composite recruiting ranking

Ranking Ohio State quarterbacks by recruiting ranking #GoBucks

The Ohio State football program has four quarterbacks on scholarship and is the position with the most eyes on it this offseason. C.J. Stroud leaves a legacy as one of the greatest quarterbacks in Ohio State history, but who is up next?

The Buckeyes have been through this before and have continuously pumped out great quarterbacks under Ryan Day from Dwayne Haskins to Justin Fields to C.J. Stroud, and there is no reason to suggest the next starting quarterback at Ohio State will be anything less than spectacular.

In the following slides, we rank the scholarship quarterbacks on the roster based on the place on the 247Sports composite.

Report: Ohio State to get commitment from transfer portal quarterback

The Buckeyes add some quarterback depth #GoBucks

The [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] Buckeyes have added to their quarterback room over the past 36 hours. Obviously, we all know who they lost. C.J. Stroud declared for the NFL draft on Monday morning.

[autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] found a veteran presence to replace Stroud’s seat in the quarterback room, [autotag]Oregon State[/autotag] transfer [autotag]Tristan Gebbia[/autotag]. It’s clearly not a splash move for the program. The former Beaver has thrown for 1,250 yards in three seasons. Gebbia accounted for five touchdowns through the air while throwing four interceptions.

He’s an average runner, with less than 50 yards and three scores in his career on the ground. It seems he will be more of a mentor to [autotag]Kyle McCord[/autotag] and [autotag]Devin Brown[/autotag], who are viewed as the real contenders for the vacant starting spot. You also can never have too much depth at the position.

[autotag]Austin Ward[/autotag] was the first to report the news, while Gebbia’s Twitter account has been silent. We are awaiting word from the quarterback, but multiple reputable outlets have confirmed the addition.
