Report: Buffalo Bills sign OL Garrett McGhin

Report: #Bills sign OL Garrett McGhin:

With a big need for offensive line depth, the Buffalo Bills have made an addition in the trenches.

According to reports including Syracuse.com, the team is expected to sign offensive lineman Garrett McGhin.

McGhin, 27, has previously had a free-agent workout in Buffalo last week. That came after the sudden retirement of Brandon Shell.

However, McGhin only has reportedly signed after the second blow to the offensive line via Tommy Doyle.

In the Bills’ 27-15 preseason loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Doyle sustained a season-ending knee injury. With back-to-back blows to the same position, Buffalo desperately needed an addition and went down a route they’ve traveled before.

McGhin has appeared in only two NFL games in his career. Most recently he played in the XFL.

But McGhin entered the NFL with the Bills in training camp in 2019 after going undrafted. That was his first of two offseason stints with the team.

McGhin then bounced around various practice squads and training camps with the Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and New York Jets.

Bills’ Tommy Doyle sustains season-ending injury vs. Steelers

#Bills’ Tommy Doyle sustains season-ending injury vs. #Steelers:

Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Tommy Doyle’s season is over before it has even begun.

In Buffalo’s 27-15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in their second preseason outing, Doyle was carted off the field. The team announced he sustained a left knee injury.

As it goes with being taken off via any form of assistance, the ensuing update is usually not good. That’s the case for Doyle, as head coach Sean McDermott announced that his year is done.

It will now be essentially the second-straight season Doyle has missed the entire year. In 2022, Doyle suffered a season-ending injury in Week 3. That ended up being a separate ACL injury in his right leg.

The 25-year-old has been limited to only 12 games in two seasons. Doyle’s NFL career is unfortunately in jeopardy at this point after all the injury issues he has battled.

In the short term, with Doyle’s update plus the retirement of Brandon Shell, Buffalo has a lack of depth at their tackle position. Any injury to starters Dion Dawkins, Spencer Brown or swing tackle David Quessenberry and the team is in trouble.

Bills Wire will continue to bring updates on all injuries as information is made available.

Bills’ Tommy Doyle carted off vs. Steelers

#Bills’ Tommy Doyle carted off vs. #Steelers:

Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Tommy Doyle avoided serious injury against the Indianapolis Colts in his team’s preseason opener.

It does not appear he was as lucky against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Doyle was carted off the field in the third quarter of Buffalo’s second preseason outing. At the time, the Steelers led the Bills 24-0.

A short time later, the team announced Doyle was not going to return to the contest.

Last week, Doyle sustained a knee injury but it turned out it was just a contusion and he returned to practice this week.

Against the Steelers, Doyle departed the game with his left leg in an aircast.

Doyle, 25, has been limited to only 12 games in two seasons. Staying healthy will be key for Doyle’s NFL future. Included in that is Doyle essentially missing the entire year last season due to an ACL injury.

Bills Wire will bring updates on all injuries as information is made available.

Bills’ Tommy Doyle escapes preseason injury concerns

#Bills’ Tommy Doyle escapes preseason injury concerns:

Injuries have been a problem for Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Tommy Doyle, but he’s avoided adding to his resume in that area for now.

In Buffalo’s 23-19 preseason win over the Indianapolis Colts, Doyle exited the game in the second quarter due to a knee injury.

Doyle, 25, was playing with the Bills’ second-string offense during the second quarter when he was rolled up on by a Colts defender. Doyle initially grabbed his leg but then completed the series which ended soon after thanks to an interception thrown by quarterback Kyle Allen.

On the ensuing drive, Buffalo moved down to their third-string offense led by quarterback Matt Barkley. Doyle was among the players to leave the game but then the injury designation was announced.

Post game, Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott said Doyle did injure the same knee Doyle previously hurt. It turned out Doyle only sustained a contusion. He has since returned to practice this week.

Since being selected in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL draft by the Bills, Doyle has been limited to only 12 games in two seasons. Staying healthy will be key for Doyle’s NFL future. Included in that is Doyle essentially missing the entire year last season due to an ACL injury.

In addition to Doyle, depth defensive tackle DJ Dale left the contest in the second half due to a rib/ back injury. He was also cleared to return to practice this week. Dale recorded a half sack against the Colts.

Bills sign OL Justin Murray, place Tommy Doyle on injured reserve

#Bills sign OL Justin Murray, place Tommy Doyle on injured reserve:

The Buffalo Bills have addressed their offensive line depth.

The team announced on Tuesday that lineman Justin Murray was signed.

Murray’s addition comes amid some health concerns the Bills are having in the trenches. The corresponding move Buffalo made highlights that.

The team also officially placed Tommy Doyle (ACL) on injured reserve. His season is over.

Murray, 29, spent the past three years with the Arizona Cardinals. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2016 with the Denver Broncos, spending time on the practice squad.

Murray made his NFL debut with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2018.

A versatile piece, Murray has spent most of his career on the right side of the offensive line. He made 12 starts at right tackle in 2019 and then made seven in 2020 at right guard.

Doyle had previously been a depth option for Buffalo on the right side of their offensive line. Doyle was injured in Week 3 when he was filling in for right guard Ryan Bates (concussion).
