Watch Ravens vs. Bills Live Online.

The Baltimore Ravens (10-2) head to Buffalo to face a 9-3 Bills squad on Sunday afternoon. Baltimore leads the all-time series 5-3, including a 47-3 blowout last season. Good news for Buffalo though, the two times these teams met in New York (2007 and 2013), both resulted in wins for the home team.

We may have witnessed a preview of the Super Bowl this past weekend when the Ravens and 49ers squared-off. Baltimore was able to edge out San Francisco 20-17 despite some terrible weather conditions. Lamar Jackson didn’t have his best game passing going 14 of 25 for 101 yards and one touchdown, but it didn’t matter. Jackson picked up where he left off in the run game with 16 carries for 101 yards and another score. This year, he’s totaled 977 yards rushing and will most certainly break the 1,000-yard barrier against the Bills. To put his numbers in perspective, he is ranked ninth in rushing in all of the NFL. Kyler Murray is the next best quarterback on the list with 446 yards. Jackson is a highlight reel waiting to happen and has teamed with Mark Ingram in the backfield to give the Ravens the best rushing attack in the league and second-best offense.

Jackson is a difference-maker, but the Baltimore defense is playing lights out lately. Against the 49ers, it recorded two sacks and limited Jimmy Garoppolo to 165 yards and one touchdown.  Raheem Mostert was able to run the ball efficiently on the defense with 19 carries for 146 yards, and one touchdown. The Ravens are fifth in points allowed (18.2) and sixth in rushing yards allowed (94.2 YPG). Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen isn’t afraid to run the ball or hand off to running backs Devin Singletary or Frank Gore. The defense’s ability to stop the run will be key in this game.

What a difference a year makes. Buffalo was 6-10 last year and is now 9-3 and hot on the heels of the New England Patriots in the AFC East. The Bills have won three in a row, including a 26-15 win over the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. Josh Allen accounted for 274 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns, while Devin Singletary posted 101 total yards and one touchdown. Cole Beasley led the team with six catches for 110 yards and one touchdown against his former team. It marked the first 100+ yard receiving game of the season for Beasley.

The game plan is simple defensively. Stop Lamar Jackson and the Ravens running game. How the team is able to execute it is a different story. Buffalo was able to sack quarterback Dak Prescott four times, two of those coming from rookie Ed Oliver, and force an interception. The defense ranks third in total defense with opponents averaging 300.1 YPG and will face arguably their biggest test of the year this weekend.

Josh Gordon can do more than run slant routes

Seattle Seahawks receiver Josh Gordon has excelled as a slant route runner so far this year, but Brian Schottenheimer knows he can do more.

Although the numbers are rather pedestrian, there’s no doubt the Seattle Seahawks have been thrilled with what they have gotten out of free agent pickup Josh Gordon over the past three weeks.

Still battling an injury and with very little time to adjust to a brand-new offense, Gordon has hauled in four receptions (on five targets) for 47 yards.

All four of his receptions have been first downs, as quarterback Russell Wilson has come to trust him run quick slant routes and convert on third down.

However, Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer views Gordon as more than a slant-running first down machine.

“We certainly do a lot of things with him, he just made some good plays on those,” Schottenheimer said on Thursday. “We’ve tried a couple double moves with him, he got the P.I. penalty against Philadelphia that was a big play. But I would say it’s definitely coincidence.”

Schottenheimer went on to praise Gordon’s increased comfort with the system and his relationship with Wilson, while also highlighting that Gordon’s success is simply the fact that he’s, well, good at catching footballs.

“Unbelievable catcher of the football,” Schottenheimer continued. “I think his hands, the ability to catch the football is maybe the best I’ve ever seen. The ball is in his area, he finds a way to catch it but, he’s doing a really good job for us. We’re very pleased with him.”

Wilson has a plethora of options to choose from at this point in the season. Tyler Lockett is healthy after battling a leg injury and the flu, rookie DK Metcalf has emerged as a true star, tight end Jacob Hollister has stepped up in a big way, and now Gordon is getting more comfortable in the offense.

Factor in the two-headed monster of Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny in the running game and you have an offense that is very tough to game plan against, a task the Rams will have to take on this Sunday night in Los Angeles, where Seattle will be playing for a guaranteed spot in the playoffs.

Cody Barton, Ugo Amadi both benefit if Mychal Kendricks is out

If the Seattle Seahawks are without Mychal Kendricks on Sunday night, expect to see rookies Cody Barton and Ugo Amadi a lot more.

The Seattle Seahawks listed SAM linebacker Mychal Kendricks as doubtful for their Week 14 matchup with the Rams in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Seattle’s reliance on the 4-3 base defense is in part thanks to their faith in Kendricks’ ability in pass coverage and as a blitzer. If they are without him, coach Pete Carroll admitted the team will probably rely more on their nickel package.

While he would not say which player would be employed in that role, it’s expected that rookie Ugo Amadi will get a chance against LA’s speedy slot receiver, Cooper Kupp.

However, the Seahawks will still run a hefty amount of their base defense, meaning rookie Cody Barton could get a big opportunity to show what he is capable of in Kendricks’ absence.

“Cody’s a good player and we’re anxious to see him contribute,” Carroll said on Friday. “He played quite a bit last week, more than he has been. He’s ready to go.”

Barton was a third round pick out of Utah in the 2019 NFL Draft. He was a middle linebacker in college, but has worked hard to learn all three linebacker spots in Seattle, so that he can serve as a valuable backup at any spot when called upon.

“Cody is a particularly diligent worker,” Carroll continued. “Smart kid. Plays all three spots. He’s as well versed a guy coming in as you can hope for, for a young guy. We really don’t have any hesitation in trusting that he can play.”

So while the Seahawks will likely rely on the nickel package, fans will still get a healthy dose of Barton on Sunday night – assuming Kendricks gets the night off.

Seattle Seahawks at Los Angeles Rams: Week 14 injury report

Seahawks opposing QB preview: Rams’ Jared Goff

For the second time this season, the Seattle Seahawks are set to square off against the division-rival Rams and their QB, Jared Goff.

It’s finally here, the first divisional rematch of the season for the Seattle Seahawks and the first quarterback preview revisit as well. Up next for Seattle is a road showdown against the Los Angeles Rams on “Sunday Night Football” in Week 14.

These two rivals first met on Thursday night to kick off Week 5 back in October. Since the Seahawks and Rams first played, their quarterbacks have gone on different paths. Russell Wilson continued his lofty ascension in the MVP race, while Jared Goff’s turnover problems that plagued him the last time have only continued.

When the Seahawks first saw Goff, he had only six touchdown passes against six interceptions. He has hardly improved as he now has 13 scores against 12 interceptions. The rough year continues for the former Cal standout, especially over the past month.

In November, Goff did not throw a single touchdown pass. Yes, you heard that right. One of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the entire NFL, a former No. 1 overall pick and Pro Bowler, went an entire month without a touchdown pass. During that span, the Rams went 1-2 and Goff threw five interceptions.

He appears to have gotten himself out of his slump with a monstrous performance against the Cardinals in Week 13. Goff torched Arizona with 424 yards and two scores on 32-of-43 passing. The difficulty in defending Goff is that when he is allowed to really get into a rhythm, it is incredibly challenging to stop Los Angeles.

If Goff has truly turned a corner and is positioning the Rams for a late-season desperation push, then it will be significantly more difficult for the visiting  Seahawks. However, Seattle leads the NFC in defensive takeaways. If there is a team to get Goff back to his poor ball security ways and knock him out of sync, it would be the Seahawks.

Jadeveon Clowney expected to play Sunday against Rams

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is practicing on Wednesday, a good sign he’ll be able to play Sunday against the Rams.

The Seattle Seahawks welcomed back defensive end Jadeveon Clowney on Monday night against the Vikings, after he missed the previous game against the Philadelphia Eagles with a core muscle injury.

Clowney recorded three solo tackles, one for a loss, and one quarterback hit on Monday, and his return was critical for a team that needs his presence in both the run game and the passing game.

Despite playing 78 percent of Seattle’s defensive snaps, Clowney appears to have recovered well and is in line to play again on Sunday night against the Rams in Los Angeles.

“He’s practicing today, and that’s a really good sign,” coach Pete Carroll said on Wednesday. “It’s a really good sign.”

Clowney’s addition has been instrumental in Seattle’s recent success on the defensive side of the ball, and they’ll need him to continue to be a disruptive force if they want to win out and secure a top seed, and a first round bye, in the crowded NFC.

Texans CB Bradley Roby played with heavy heart against the Patriots

Houston Texans cornerback Bradley Roby was playing with a heavy heart during the club’s 28-22 win over the New England Patriots Sunday night.

HOUSTON — Houston Texans cornerback Bradley Roby played with a heavy heart Sunday night in the team’s 28-22 win over the New England Patriots at NRG Stadium.

The 27-year-old buried his 85-year-old grandfather in Mississippi the day before making his return to the gridiron after being sidelined with a hamstring injury since the Week 6 win at the Kansas City Chiefs.

“This game was special to me because my grandfather just passed and I went to the funeral yesterday and I promised him and I promised him that I would make some plays,” Roby said. “He was blind, so he never saw me play. But maybe he could see me now. That’s what I wanted to do was honor him and rest in peace for my granddad.”

Roby collected three tackles and was arguably the best thing the Texans had going defensively. The former 2014 Denver Broncos first-round pick intercepted Patriots quarterback Tom Brady on a third-and-4 from the New England 25-yard line and returned the takeaway up to the Patriots’ 6-yard line.

Even though an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Roby pushed the Texans’ starting position to the 21-yard line instead, the interception was the catalyst for Houston’s first score of the game, a 14-yard touchdown pass from from quarterback Deshaun Watson to running back Duke Johnson to take a 7-3 lead with 45 seconds to go in the first quarter.

“That’s something that I like to take pride in, being a game changer and making plays,” said Roby. “I was telling the guys earlier in the week I was going to make a play. I don’t know what it was, but I was going to make a play. So, I’m happy that I was able to.”

Roby added 1.0 sack, a quarterback hit, a tackle for loss, and a pass breakup. The Fort Worth native would have collected his second interception of the night, one that would have gone for a touchdown, but it was called back due to defensive holding on Roby.

Nonetheless, Roby picked up on the emotion.

Said Roby: “When I scored, I felt that energy, the whole crowd just went crazy. That’s why I took my helmet off. I just wanted him to feel me. I felt so good. I felt so great.”

Huge sentiments often lead to big performances, and the Texans benefited from Roby’s play to improve to 8-4 on the season and prove their worth against the best team in the conference.

Chargers-Vikings flexed out of ‘Sunday Night Football’ in Week 15

The NFL has decided to flex the matchup between the Chargers and Vikings out of primetime.

The NFL announced that the Los Angeles Chargers’ matchup against the Minnesota Vikings has been flexed out “Sunday Night Football” in Week 15.

The game, which will be played at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, CA, was previously expected to kickoff at 5:20 p.m. PT on NBC, but will now kickoff at 1:05 p.m. PT on CBS.

It’s no surprise that the Bolts were flexed out. Originally going into the season, there were hopes of a playoff contender. But sitting at 4-8, their aspirations of playing in January are basically extinguished.

With the Chargers and Vikings being flexed out, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills, who were scheduled for an afternoon bout, will get the primetime game.

The matchup between Pittsburgh and Buffalo has some significance as both teams are fighting for Wild Card spots, being 7-5 and 9-3 respectively.

Bills-Steelers Week 15 meeting flexed to Sunday Night Football

The Buffalo Bills’ Week 15 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers has been flexed into Sunday Night Football.

The NFL has added another national television appearance to the Buffalo Bills’ remaining schedule.

The league announced Sunday night that Buffalo’s Week 15 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers has been flexed to Sunday Night Football. Kickoff is now scheduled for 8:20 EST on NBC.

The flexed game could have serious postseason implications. At 9-3 and 7-5, respectively, the Bills and Steelers currently occupy the AFC’s two wild-card playoff spots.

The NFL’s decision comes just days after Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen put on a show in a Thanksgiving Day shellacking of the Dallas Cowboys. The game averaged 32.5 million viewers, per CBS, making it the most-watched regular-season contest in three years.

This is the second Buffalo game to be flexed this season. The team’s Week 16 matchup with the New England Patriots was recently flexed to Saturday, December 21, and moved to the 4:30 EST kickoff.

When the Bills’ 2019 schedule was released in April, fans quickly noted that it contained zero primetime games. Given the team’s consistent success and strong performance in its sole nationally televised game, the fact that a late-season game has been flexed into primetime is not all that surprising.
