Bills to stay put as NFL names home teams for 2024 international games

No Europe #Bills in 2024:

The NFL designated four home teams out of the five international games taking place in the 2024 NFL season.

The league will play three games in England, one game in Germany, and one game in Brazil next year.

The Buffalo Bills’ full list of opponents in 2024 was finalized following the end of this year’s regular season. Buffalo was considered the “home” team when they played the Jacksonville Jaguars in October in London. Bills players did not enjoy that game with multiple injuries and jet lag decimating Buffalo’s chance to win against the Jaguars in their international home game at Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium.

The only home team not announced is the game in Brazil.  There is still a chance the Bills might have to play internationally – but definitely not in Europe where it is considered overseas and multiple time zones away.

For those curious, here is the full list of home teams playing in the European international games.

Bills’ 2021 strength of schedule ranks in the bottom half of the NFL

Buffalo Bills 2021 strength of schedule as of their 16-game schedule.

The Buffalo Bills should be a highly-motivated bunch in 2021. After a massively successful campaign this past season, the Bills will want to prove that was no flash in the pan. This team here to stay, right?

Well in doing so, the Bills will actually… have an easier road? According to numbers recently calculated by Steelers Wire, the Bills’ 2021 schedule is tied for the 23rd easiest in 2021. Game-by-game predictions for Bills’ final six games

The Bills are entering the post-bye week portion of their 2020 regular season slate this week. Buffalo will welcome the Los Angeles Chargers to Bills Stadium on Sunday to kick that stretch off.

Now that we have a big sample size of 10 total games so far which has amounted to a 7-3 record for the Bills, we can take a gander ahead and guess as to how the Bills will finish the year. Is undefeated possible?

Here’s Bills Wire’s game-by-game predictions for the Bills over their final six games of 2020:

Bills’ remaining schedule among NFL’s toughest

Buffalo Bills remaining strength of schedule for rest of 2020 NFL season.

If the Buffalo Bills are going to complete their 2020 NFL slate the way they started it, they’re probably going to have to play even better than they did in the first half of it.

Currently at 6-2 overall, the Bills are in the driver’s seat in terms of their playoff future and chance at winning the AFC East title. Buffalo hasn’t done so since 1995. But the reason why the Bills might have to start playing their best football now is because their remaining eight games are among the NFL’s toughest schedules left, according to Tankathon.

Buffalo’s second half of the season lines up as the fourth-hardest in the entire league. The Bills’ remaining foes have a winning percentage of .579. The only teams with a tougher go en route are the 49ers (.610), Jaguars (.615) and Falcons (.644).

In regard to the rest of the division, the Patriots have the best left, the second-easiest remaining slate in the NFL. The second-place Dolphins sit at No. 21 overall in terms of current strength of schedule.

Here’s the full rankings of the NFL’s remaining strength of schedule:

1. Falcons (.644)
2. Jaguars (.615)
3. 49ers (.610)
4. Bills (.579)
5. Rams (.576)
6. Panthers (.569)
7. Broncos (.522)
8. Colts (.540)
9. Titans (.538)
10. Cardinals (.529)
11. Eagles (.525)
12. Jets (.517)
13. Giants (.517)
14. Texans (.508)
15. Packers (.507)
16. Bengals (.500)
17. Chiefs (.492)
18. Vikings (.485)
19. Chargers (.478)
20. Bucs (.475)
21. Dolphins (.470)
22. Lions (.470)
23. Saints (.464)
24. Football Team (.464)
25. Steelers (.456)
26. Ravens (.455)
27. Cowboys (.450)
28. Seahawks (.450)
29. Bears (.429)
30. Raiders (.424)
31. Patriots (.418)
32. Browns (.398)

The rest of Buffalo’s schedule kicks off on Sunday as the Bills host the Seahawks (6-2). Buffalo will also host the Chargers (2-5), Steelers (7-0) and Dolphins (4-3) over the course of the rest of the season. The Bills will face the Cardinals (5-2), 49ers (4-4), Broncos (3-4) and Patriots (2-5) on the road.

Bills-Chiefs Week 6 game moved to Monday

Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs Week 6 game has been moved to Monday Night Football.

The Buffalo Bills have had one change to their upcoming schedule made by the NFL on Sunday, but it’s the one that’s two games from now… not the one only a few hours away.

According to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer, the Bills’ Week 6 game with the Kansas City Chiefs has been moved to Monday Night Football on Oct. 19. Previously the league already announced that the game would not be played this upcoming Thursday. Now it appears there’s a date and time for it, as ESPN’s Chris Mortensen adds the kickoff between the Bills and Chiefs will be at 5 p.m.

Currently the Bills are unsure of when they’ll play in Week 5 after the Titans’ outbreak with COVID-19 continued on Sunday, but we have a Week 6 update, at least.

As things currently stand, the Bills and Titans will still play on Tuesday at 7 p.m. to wrap up Week 5 in the NFL. At minimal, moving Thursday’s Bills-Chiefs to Monday gives the league some flexibility to possibly even push Titans-Bills back to Wednesday, if needed.

Stay tuned to Bills Wire for the latest schedule updates.

How the Bills have fared in past 2-0 starts

How the Buffalo Bills ended their seasons in which they started 2-0.

The Buffalo Bills have started the 2020 regular season 2-0. This is the 18th time in team history that’s happened. It’s actually the second time of those 18 that the Bills have done so against the Dolphins and Jets as well, with the first time coming in 1980.

Most recently, the Bills started 2-0 just last season, defeating the Jets and Giants to get there.

In terms of making the postseason, the Bills are pretty par for the course in terms of doing that after a 2-0 start. Since 1990, teams that have started the their campaign 2-0 have made the playoffs 61.3 percent of the time, according to Pro Football Reference. Teams that start 2-0 have won the Super Bowl almost eight percent of the time.

Overall in those 17 previous seasons, the Bills have made the playoffs 10 times and missed out on seven occasions. Prior to last year when the Bills did make the postseason. Buffalo’s four times starting 2-0 prior to that resulted in missing the playoffs. Of all 17, the Bills have only had a losing record three times.

Here’s a full rundown of the Bills’ 2-0 starts:

1964: 12-2 overall, AFL Champions.

1965: 10-3-1, AFL Champions.

1975: 8-6, missed playoffs.

1980: 11-5-1, divisional playoff loss.

1981: 10-6, divisional playoff loss.

1982: 4-5 (NFL strike), missed playoffs.

1988: 12-4, AFC championship round loss.

1991: 13-3, lost Super Bowl.

1992: 11-5, lost Super Bowl.

Bills Wire 2020 staff record predictions

Buffalo Bills 2020 NFL season predictions from the Bills Wire staff.

Let’s get right to it. The Bills Wire team came together and provided how we see the 2020 Buffalo Bills season going.

Here’s how each of our contributors record predictions and the upcoming season:

David De Cristofaro, Contributing Writer

Prediction: 12-4

Last season, the Bills bucked most preseason predictions to earn 10 wins and a playoff berth. While the Bills lost in the first round, it was in a game that could have been won. The Bills did that without the improved talent on their already-imposing defense as well as the replenished offensive unit they have now.

Buffalo’s new-look receiving corps is ranked in the top-five in the NFL by analysts, as the Bills added an elite talent in Stefon Diggs to that group as well as a ready-to-contribute addition to the backfield in Zack Moss. Both should translate into opening up the passing game and creating headaches for opposing defenses. With Diggs and Singletary both commanding attention, it should create more playmaking opportunities for returning contributors like John Brown, Cole Beasley and Dawson Knox as well as rookies like Moss and Gabriel Davis. Moss’s catch-and-run abilities could potentially add a Kareem Hunt/Alvin Kamara-like option in the offense.

The defense also added another key piece to pressuring opposing quarterbacks in AJ Epenesa and at cornerback with Josh Norman whose star rose in McDermott’s system back in Carolina. Even at efficiency, Norman’s coverage on No. 2 receivers complementing Tre White could be a nightmare for passers. The way Buffalo defended the Ravens, providing a blueprint for other teams by forcing Lamar Jackson to throw by containing the run jumps to mind… It’s exciting to imagine how adding a player like Norman, with forces like Epensesa, Ed Oliver, Matt Milano and Tremaine Edmunds collapsing pockets, could help pressure quarterbacks into defensive stops and turnovers.

In terms of players taking a next step in 2020, we have Allen, as the passing game will open up to showcase more of his arm strength throwing downfield. Tight end Dawson Knox, who flashed some big play potential last season, may get more mismatches and open looks with the expanded offensive group. On the defensive side, anticipate Ed Oliver begins to shine in an expanded role in his second year with the team.

See where the Bills schedule ranks in terms of strength

Bleacher Report ranks the Buffalo Bills’ 2020 regular season schedule.

It’s nearly impossible to predict how hard a team’s upcoming schedule will be in the NFL prior to a season. Sure, you can go off the year prior, but in football, year-to-year, teams just fluctuate so much. Each season it seems like we see a worst-to-first scenario.

Instead of strictly going off of the Bills opponents’ record from 2019, Bleacher Report factored in the whole picture recently… looking back and looking forward. In doing so, the Bills actually have a favorable slate ahead.

B/R says Buffalo only has the 22nd hardest schedule in 2020. Here’s the explanation:

Opponents’ 2019 win percentage: .525

Opponents’ projected 2020 win percentage: .510

What makes it so easy: Despite a tough schedule based on 2019 win rates and a middle-of-the-pack sked based on projected win totals, the Bills land slightly below the league median because they face just four teams projected to win nine or more games and only two projected to put up double-digit win totals. They’re one of just three teams in the league with as many matchups with teams projected to win seven or fewer games as with those projected to win nine or more.

There are few obvious highs or lows in a schedule that contains no deadly stretches.

B/R makes note of it, but based strictly on last season, the Bills actually do have a difficult series of opponents. Based on 2019 alone, Buffalo will have the fifth-hardest schedule next season. The Bills are in a three-way tie for fifth, along with the Lions and Falcons. Looking back on 2019, Buffalo’s opponents gave them the NFL’s 26th-hardest schedule to navigate.

That’s a big flip… one that’s certainly welcomed.

And it gets even better. According to B/R, the Bills have the easiest schedule in the AFC East, edging out the Dolphins (20), Patriots (11) and Jets (4).

Here’s the Bills’ full upcoming 2020 schedule:
