LOOK: Michigan football spring game highlights released

Though there were no fans or media at the Michigan football spring game, the Wolverines highlights have surfaced.

Unlike last year, when Michigan football had exactly zero spring practices, this year, the Wolverines managed to get the full complement of practices in. And on Saturday, that culminated in the spring game.

However, unlike most years when fans or media are allowed to witness the final scrimmage of the spring sessions, the only people in attendance were family and friends of those participating.

The ‘teams’ came out in color rush style, with one team wearing maize jerseys and maize pants, while their counterparts were clad in all blue. Third-year quarterback Cade McNamara led the maize team, winning game MVP, per reports, while defeating the blue team, 22-10.

The official Michigan football account released highlights from the ‘game’ where you can see snippets of the maize vs. blue going at it in The Big House.

When will Notre Dame’s spring game be?

Soon!

It’s a question Notre Dame fans have been asking as other programs nationally have announced their official spring football practice and scrimmage plans.

Now, according to Tim Prister of Irish Illustrated, it appears that Saturday, May 1, will be the day for the annual Blue-Gold Game.

My biggest concern with that is how will it be shown on NBC Sports as the first Saturday in May is usually reserved for wall-to-wall coverage of the Kentucky Derby.

Prister also mentions that spring drills are set to begin this Saturday, March 27, pushed back from the original date of March 24.

This spring will be an incredibly important spring for Notre Dame as the Irish started last year 10-0 before losses in the ACC Championship and College Football Playoff, and have starting positions to replace all over the field.

Texas announces full spring practice schedule, spring game date

The first spring of Steve Sarkisian’s tenure is on the horizon. Texas announced its full spring practice schedule.

The first spring of Steve Sarkisian’s tenure is on the horizon.

Texas announced its full spring practice schedule on Wednesday and it will officially begin on March 23. There will be 14 practices prior to the annual spring game on April 24.

Workouts have been taking place with the new staff over the last few weeks, but no official practices have taken place. Most will take place on Tuesday and Thursday with a Friday and Saturday mixed in there.

Here is the full schedule:

The biggest storyline across the 14 practices and spring game will be the quarterback battle between Casey Thompson and Hudson Card. Both will have an equal opportunity to become the heir to Sam Ehlinger’s throne. Thompson is thought to be in the lead at the moment, but it will be tough to count out Card.

Outside the signal callers, how Pete Kwiatkowski aligns his defense will raise eyebrows. Will he keep the mold of Chris Ash’s scheme or move into what he had success with at Washington. DeMarvion Overshown and Alfred Collins are just a couple of defensive players with locked down starting roles and there will be a few positional battles.

Georgia football: 2021 G-Day information

Information for Georgia football’s 2021 G-Day game.

[jwplayer seDb7X31]

On Saturday, April 17, Georgia fans will get their first look at the 2021 Bulldogs when the Red team faces the Black team at the annual G-Day game in Sanford Stadium.

Kickoff time and television information have not yet been determined for the intrasquad scrimmage.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, last season’s game looked a bit different. Expect a similar feel for the 2021 game as many of these game-day policies will remain in place.

Tickets will be $10 each and will all be digital. Proceeds will be donated to a variety of charities, all of which will be announced later by Georgia’s official website.

Once again, attendance at G-Day will be limited to approximately 20-25 percent of full capacity at Sanford Stadium. Attendance at all three home games in the 2020 season was listed at 20,524. All seating will be reserved and in groups intended to maximize social distancing.

Ticket requests can be submitted starting on March 1 through March 3. Tickets will be offered to all 2020 and/or 2021 Hartman Fund donors.

Report: Date announced for 2021 G-Day game

The date for the 2021 Georgia football spring game has been announced

According to a report from UGASports.com, the 2021 Georgia football spring game will take place on April 17th.

Last year, the Bulldogs had to hold a ‘virtual G-Day’ by showing a re-run of the 2019 Notre Dame game on the SEC Network.

However, as of right now, the Dawgs will return to the gridiron this spring after a one-year hiatus on the annual April tradition.

Michigan State football cancels spring game amid coronavirus pandemic

There will be no spring game for MSU football this year.

Michigan State football has canceled its spring game according to a program spokesperson.

The annual green and white game was originally scheduled for April 18. The cancellation comes as COVID-19, the coronavirus, spreads across the world.

The news is more of a clerical confirmation as the Big Ten announced yesterday that all athletics would be suspended until the end of the academic year. Today the conference said they would reassess competitive team activities on April 6. The NCAA has announced an indefinite nation-wide recruiting dead period.

Earlier in the day Friday Michigan State announced they would also be canceling their NFL pro day, which was scheduled for March 18.

Georgia football Pro Day postponed amid coronavirus outbreak

Amid the growing concern over the spread of the coronavirus, Georgia football has postponed its Pro Day.

As a result of the growing concern over the spread of the coronavirus, Georgia has announced its Pro Day, which was to be held next Wednesday, has been postponed.

This announcement came shortly after the school also said that spring practice has been postponed.

According to this tweet below, Georgia will host no spring football through at least March 30th.

That means the Pro Day and the Coaches Clinic will not take place. It’s unlikely that the coaches clinic will be rescheduled, though the Pro Day should be moved to a yet-to-be-determined date.

The Pro-Day turnout would have been underwhelming, as NFL teams are being cautious about sending scouts across the country to observe. Many NFL teams have already said they will be sending nobody.

Previously, the SEC suspended all on-campus and in-home recruiting for its member institutions.

With students scheduled to return to Athens from spring break on Monday, Georgia announced it will not hold classes for the next two weeks. Students have been asked by authorities to stay away from campus until Sunday March 29.

On Thursday, the NCAA cancelled all championships for the rest of the 2019-20 academic year, including the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments.

NCAA suspends all recruiting until April 15 per report

In a statement sent to NCAA coaches, recruiting has been placed under suspension. Schools must now follow dead period rules.

In the latest news regarding NCAA suspensions, recruiting is now suspending until April 15th. That day is the first day that players can submit their NLI (National Letters of Intent). It is uncertain at this time how that will impact basketball recruiting. For the Texas Longhorns, they do not have a single signee for the 2020 recruiting cycle for Shaka Smart’s team. Greg Brown is the main target for the class and this might delay his commitment. We will keep you updated on the situation.

In a report released on 247 sports, the following statement was sent to coaches on Friday.

“Dear Coaches and Staff,

The NCAA has adopted emergency Legislation to establish a temporary recruiting DEAD PERIOD. The Council Coordination Committee adopted emergency legislation to establish a temporary recruiting dead period in all NCAA Division I sports, effective immediately. The dead period will remain in effect at least until April 15 , at which time the Council Coordination Committee will re-evaluate the status of the situation. Based on the immediate effective date, reasonable measures should be taken to cease all recruiting activities that are not permissible during a dead period (e.g., official and unofficial visits, contacts and evaluations). From now until April 15, all sports are prohibited from any on-campus or off-campus recruiting contacts or evaluations.”

In a dead period for recruiting, coaches are not allowed to have any face to face visits at the university or in a players home with the prospect or parents. Teams are allowed to communicate through emails, texts and phone calls. It is also unclear at this time if the NCAA will delay National Signing Day in light of this new ruling.
