Watch: Draymond Green looks like next Splash Brother at offseason workout

During an offseason workout in Los Angeles, Draymond Green looked like Steph Curry and Klay Thompson with his corner 3-point shooting.

After an extended edition of the offseason, the Golden State Warriors could finally have a target date for their return to game action.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the NBA Players Association has approved the league’s plan for a Dec. 22 start date for the 2020-21 season. Members of the Warriors will have the remainder of November before returning to Chase Center for the start of preseason training camp.

In the final leg of Golden State’s eight-month offseason, Draymond Green is working on his long-distance jumper. On Friday, NBA skills coach Travis Walton shared a video of the former Defensive Player of the Year splashing a series of corner 3-pointers at the Samson Center in Los Angeles.

During the Instagram video, Green drilled four consecutive catch and shoot triples from the corner.

Via @gswchris on Twitter:

Green’s latest display isn’t the first time he’s been spotted getting up shots from beyond the arc. In early October, the three-time All-Star was back in the gym, showing off his range.

After shooting only 27.9% on 3.0 3-point attempts per game last season, there’s a reason Green has been working on his long-distance jumper. Although Green dealt with injuries and load management, his 3-point shooting numbers from 2019-20 were his lowest mark since his rookie year (20.9%).

With Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson back on the floor creating space, Green will have the chance to capitalize on his offseason work in 2020-21.

Warriors Rewind: Splash Brothers combine for 72 points vs. Lakers in 2014

With no hoops on the schedule, Warriors Wire is rewinding through Golden State’s history for memorable matchups and standout performances.

With no hoops on the calendar, Warriors Wire is rewinding the tape back through Golden State’s history for memorable matchups, standout performances and everything else in between.

On their way to an NBA Finals run in 2015, the Golden State Warriors started the regular season with a sizzling performance from the Splash Brothers against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers.

November 1, 2014

After winning their first game of the year against the Sacramento Kings, Steve Kerr’s Warriors hosted Bryant and the Lakers at Oracle Arena in Oakland.

Bryant tallied 28 points on 12-of-28 shooting from the field with six rebounds, two steals and one assist. However, Bryant’s effort wasn’t enough to slow down the Splash Brothers.

Klay Thompson notched a game-high 41 points on 14-of-18 shooting from the field with five rebounds and two assists. The future five-time All-Star splashed five 3-pointers on seven attempts. Thompson’s 41 point effort turned out to be his third highest-scoring performance of the 2014-15 season.

At the time, Thompson’s 41 points against the Lakers surpassed his previous career-high total over his four seasons in the NBA.

During Golden State’s 127-104 victory in Southern California, Steph Curry followed Thompson with a double-double act. The future Most Valuable Player tacked on 31 points on 10-of-19 shooting with 10 assists, five rebounds and three steals.

Curry’s 31 points against the Lakers marked the first of 14 times the future six-time All-Star point guard would register 30 or more points in the 2014-15 regular season.

Golden State’s win at Oracle Arena moved their record to 2-0 while the Lakers dropped to 0-4 on the young season.

Steve Kerr says Klay Thompson ‘looks great’ in pre-offseason minicamp workouts

After watching him train at Chase Center, Steve Kerr says Klay Thompson “looks great” prior to the start of the Warriors offseason minicamp.

For the first time in 15 months, Klay Thomspon is expected to make his long-awaited official return to the Golden State Warriors practice facility. After going through a tedious recovery process from the knee injury he suffered in the 2019 NBA Finals, Thompson is slated to join the Warriors on the floor at their voluntary offseason minicamp.

Prior to the start of minicamp, Thompson was working out at Chase Center in San Francisco. According to Steve Kerr, the five-time All-Star was training with Warriors assistant coach Chris DeMarco.

Although he missed the first day of camp while he goes through the NBA’s coronavirus testing protocols, Kerr said the Washington State product “looks great.” In an after practice interview with the media, Golden State’s coach revealed Thompson is “anxious” to get back on the court to play.

Via Warriors Sound Cloud:

Yeah, he’s doing well. He worked out here at the facility for several days in a row, maybe four or five days in a row with Chris DeMarco and Chris gave me really positive updates. I was here for a couple of those days and got a chance to see him, and Klay looks great, and he says he’s anxious to play, so we’re excited about that.

Not only will Thompson have the chance to knock off the rust before Golden State’s preseason training camp, the sharpshooting guard can also grow familiar on the court with players like Eric Paschall, Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins and Marquese Chriss.

After he goes through the league’s testing protocol, Kerr expects Thompson to join the Warriors in camp sometime later in the week.

Steph Curry and Klay Thompson react to Doc Rivers’ powerful response to the shooting of Jacob Blake

Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry shared praise for Doc Rivers’ passionate response to the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Clippers took a 3-2 series lead over Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks with a 154-111 blowout victory.

After the game, Clippers head coach Doc Rivers was asked about the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Blake, a 29-year-old Black man, was shot in the back seven times by police in Kenosha on Sunday.

When speaking about the Blake shooting, the veteran coach delivered an emotional response inside the Orlando Bubble.

Via @NBAonTNT on Twitter:

It’s just so sad. What stands out to me just watching the Republican [National] Convention, and they’re spewing this fear. All you hear is Donald Trump and all of them talking about fear. We’re the ones getting killed. We’re the ones getting shot. We’re the ones that were denied to live in certain communities. We’ve been hung. We’ve been shot. And all you do is keep hearing about fear. It’s amazing to me why we keep loving this country, and this country does not love us back.

Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson thanked Rivers for his powerful message. Thompson shared prayers for Blake and his family, along with those demanding justice in Kenosha.

Golden State’s two-time Most Valuable Player Steph Curry tweeted he was “proud” to know the Clippers coach, saying there is “so much truth” in every word of his comments.

T.J. Warren joins group with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson after 53 point performance in Orlando Bubble

With his 53 point performance against the 76ers in the Orlando Bubble, TJ Warren joined the Splash Brothers as the only players to record 50 points while taking fewer than five free throw attempts since 2010.

While the Golden State Warriors are in offseason mode, the hoops are heating up in the NBA’s Orlando Bubble. After only three days of action, the first 50 point performance has been officially recorded.

In 41 minutes against the Philadelphia 76ers, TJ Warren exploded for 53 points on 20-of-29 for the Indiana Pacers. Along with his career-high in scoring, The former Phoenix Suns record a career-best from beyond the arc, splashing 9-of-12 long-distance 3-pointers. Only four of Warren’s 53 points came from the free-throw line (4-of-4). The NC State product added four boards and three assists in the Pacers 127-121 victory.

After his 53-point performance against the Sixers, the five-year veteran joined a group that featured both of Golden State’s Splash Brothers. According to Stat Muse, Warren joined Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson as the only three players to record 50 or more points while taking fewer than free throw attempts since 2010.

In February of 2016, Golden State’s two-time Most Valuable Player dropped 51 points against the Washington Wizards on 19-of-28 from the field with 11 3-pointers. Curry added only 2-of-3 from the free-throw line in 36 minutes.

In 2018, Thompson torched the Chicago Bulls for 52 points in only 26 minutes for the Warriors. The five-time All-Star buried a career-high 14 3-pointers. On his way to 52 points, Thompson went 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.

Juan Toscano-Anderson putting in work to become the Warriors next ‘Splash Cousin’

While the NBA is returning to the court in the Orlando Bubble, Juan Toscano-Anderson is working to become the Warriors next “Splash Cousin.”

While 22 teams make their return to action at Disney World, the Golden State Warriors are at home. With the league’s worst record, the Warriors are one of eight teams on the outside of the NBA Bubble.

Although the Warriors won’t be partaking in the NBA’s restart, members of Golden State are staying busy in the gym. With Chase Center reopening its doors for individual work, members of the Warriors have been spotted working out at Golden State’s practice facility.

During the Warriors’ extended offseason, Juan Toscano-Anderson has been trying to get on Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson’s level. When the Golden State Warriors shared a pair of photos with Toscano-Anderson and Jordan Poole working out at the Chase Center, the Bay Area native said he’s trying to become a “Splash Cousin.”

Klay Thompson reacts on Instagram to recent praise from Jerry West

After Jerry West called Klay Thompson “the perfect player” for Steph Curry, the Golden State Warriors shooter paid tribute on Instagram.

After earning a trio of championships and a bevy of All-Star appearances, praise is common for a player like Klay Thompson. Yet, when it comes from a legendary hooper simply known as “The Logo,” words hold a bit more weight.

In a recent interview on 95.7 The Game with Damon Bruce, Matt Kolsky and Ray Ratto, Jerry West shared his appreciation for the Golden State Warriors’ backcourt. When discussing the rumored Kevin Love for Thompson trade from his days in Golden State’s front office, West called the Washington State product “one of the most underrated players in the league.”

Via 95.7 The Game:

But to me, the perfect player — and he wasn’t as far along in his career when this trade had been talked about —the perfect player for Steph [Currry] was Klay [Thompson]. He never seeks the spotlight. He just plays the game. And he has gotten better and better, and frankly, he’s one of the most underrated players in the league who gets not as much love as he should get.

After seeing West’s comments, the sharpshooting wing weighed in on Instagram. Thompson posted a message saying West knows he’s “about that life.”

Via @KlayThompson on Instagram:

I’ll never forget working out in front of Jerry [West] back in 2011. And ever since he knows I’m about that life. #realGsmoveinsilence #webeenworkin

With West currently serving as an executive board member of the Los Angeles Clippers, Thompson will have to wait to connect with the NBA Hall of Famer. After a 15-50 season, the Golden State Warriors are one of eight teams to be on the outside of the NBA’s Orlando Bubble restart.

As their season is officially over, Thompson will have an extended offseason to work his way back to the court. The three-time champion hasn’t played since injuring his knee against the Toronto Raptors in the 2019 NBA Finals. Luckily for the Warriors, most of the news surrounding Thompson’s injury has been positive.

After watching him work out in Southern California, Steve Kerr said Thompson was “draining shots everywhere.” With Thompson’s anticipated return to action on delay, the Splash Brother will have more time to continue “workin.”

Juan Toscano-Anderson praises Steph Curry and Klay Thompson’s ‘ELITE’ shooting

After watching Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson knock down a series of 3-pointers, Juan Toscano-Anderson has a new outlook on elite shooting.

Outside of a few familiar veteran faces, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson have a bevy of new teammates on the Golden State Warriors. After missing the bulk of the season due to injuries, the All-Star duo had little time on the court with Golden State’s new cast.

With an early entrance to the offseason, Curry and Thompson will have a jump start on getting familiar with their new crop of teammates. Although their season is officially over, the Golden State Warriors practice facility is back open for business. Curry and other members of the Warriors are beginning to trickle into Chase Center for individual work.

With Curry and Thompson set to return to the practice court, new members of the Warriors are beginning to take notice of the Splash Brothers.

After a couple of practices with Curry, Juan Toscano-Anderson praised Golden State’s sharpshooting duo on Twitter. The Bay Area native called Curry and Thompson’s shooting “ELITE.”

Via @juanonjuan10 on Twitter:

Toscano-Anderson was in the starting lineup for Curry’s return from injury against the Toronto Raptors. In his first appearance in months, Curry led the Warriors with 23 points on 6-of-16 shooting from the field and three triples. The Davidson Product added seven assists and six rebounds. Toscano-Anderson finished the game with five boards, three assists and two points in 22 minutes.

With Thompson medically cleared to train without restrictions and Curry already back in the gym, Toscano-Anderson will continue to have the opportunity to watch the Splash Brothers do what they do best from beyond the arc.

Stephen Curry chimes in on viral Splash Brothers impression video

Stephen Curry got a laugh out of a recent viral impression video of the Splash Brothers.

With no live games on the calendar until further notice, parody basketball videos might be the next best thing for hoops fans.

On Thursday, parody hoopers Brandon Armstrong and Maxim Peranidze linked up for an impersonation video for Golden State’s Splash Brothers. The duo, better known by their social media handles @BdotAdot and @Maxisnicee, incorporated all the subtleties from Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson’s game.
